  1. Enough is enough, I thing the avenue is exhausted. Pointes were made, accepted or rejected.

But the bottom line here is that it is time to close this tread. There are newbies out there and they need our help. If you are spending time on a "go no where subject", you are not available to help others. All of you, remember where you began here on this site. I did not know where to turn and I expect that so many of you did not.

Chill your buns and go forth and help the ones in need. Be done with this mess.

  2. Welcome Adelle:

I just wanted to add that the poster "Nini" has a gluten free startes list, that has lots of great information for those begining the diet. Just remember, being gluten free, is not all about food. Gluten can be found the shampoos, soap, cat food, dog food, face creams and and basically anything that can get into your mouth.

Do a members search for her name and personal message her and it will be there for you.

Again, welcome to the world of Celiacland.

  3. A:

If it is not the Aleive, or Aciphex then I think it is going to a cassin issue, but the stress can't be ruled out.

I look like I could give birth in a few months, at my age, it could be a record. :(

If I remember correctly, once going gluten free, other intollerants may show up. If I have to give up butter, I will just die. :(

I had a full blood work-up Friday and will wait for the results...and little concerned about MS.

Thanks for being there. I'll keep you posted.

  4. Vincent:

My best advise to you is to learn how to channel that energy in a productive manner, reading, art, hands on puzzels, small tool (age approp), lego's are great and a good parent child activity. At 3 yrs old, you have a long road ahead of you. Keep those hands busy with productive and learning activities.

When my Catherine was in grade school, she would mix up toothpaste, shampoo, ajax, windex, and anything to could concoct in her bathroom sink....(which by the way ate up all to metal components of the sink drain, in every house that we have lived in). Today, she is a Chemist testing drugs, before FDA approval.

You have a long way to go, but feed that fire and good things will come.

  5. Eating gluten free can be a very complicated issue.

Let me say first, if you have damage to your intestines, it will take several months to heal. You may not know whether you have been glutened or not, between the healing process and eating well. Does that make sence? It took me almost 8 months to really feel that I have been glutened...or to know the feeling of being glutened.

What I find missing on the forum is the offer of the "Delfi-Forum Product List". I have not seen that being offered much at all to all the new folks.

So, with that said, I do not have the direct link, but google "Delfi Forums" and search for their Gluten free Product list. You can down load this on Word, and I believe on Disc and Handheld (I am soooo out of touch with tech).

There you will find a new 2006 Gluten Free Product List of food that you can just grab off the counters and not worry about it. It has been totally reasearched, and best of all safe.

This can take the worries off alot of people. I used it alot. Lost it to a new computer, but intend to reclain it soon. But yes, to intellectually read lables, that is the key to success on a gluten free diet.

Best wishes, and keep with it babe, no choice here. Gluten puts me down for three days, and at my age, I don't have time to lay around the sofa. :)

  6. I read the label and thought it was safe. I used a powdered Ranch Dressing to season the meat I cooked for dinner and almost immediately after dinner felt like I am having a reaction. I'm having horrible stomach acid, heartburn like, flare-up. What I am missing in the labeling? Other than that my meal was completely gluten free, just organic meat, gluten free pasta, and asparagus.

I don't know what brand you used, but to be on the safe side, don't use any package gravey or dried packaging, unless you know the true source or call the company. Often there are ingredences that most of us cannot pronounce. The rule here is, when in doubt, don't.

I am sorry that you are feeling bad, and believe me, WE HAVE ALL BEEN THERE.......and that's why we are here.

    Lisa

PS: Not to make you feel worse, I have tried to be gluten free for over a year now. I am alot smarter now, but the big G can still find me.

  7. Oh my gosh :angry: don't know whether to laugh or cry.........

I'm the wet poopie and have been know to mistake a big fat fart ( or even the small silent ones ) for a.........need to get to the bathroom in 4.0 seconds and got there in 4.5..........ooops. I lost alot of really nice jeans in total discussed.

don't thing I'll sign my name on this one.

  8. The one thing that I really miss is good dining out.... yah know, sauces and such.

Carriefaith has some really good guten free recipies on here. Check it out. Gluten free doesn't have to be boring by no means, just sometimes a little different. Tonight we had Boars's Head smoked sausage (listed as gluten free, yeah for them and we should support them) brocolli (oh, Lister and me <_< ) and a baked potato.

Breakfast for dinner is alway good for us, easy and quick.

Good luck, wish I had someone to cook for me. But, we have a deal, I cook, he does the dishes......I'd rather cook. :)

  9. Woa..this is exciting and enlightening. I just found the No list for Celiac's and the lightbulbs are blaring! I knew there were certain things that caused me to bloat with excruciating gas (I have come to call it "the Hindenburg reaction")..like the additive maltodextrin that is in so many processed foods but didn't know there was a digestive disorder to attach to it. Can't drink malted milk..anything with malt in it. Actually, 8 years ago when I had a month long bout they deemed it IBS and it was the first time I found out about Sprue and I frantically searched for my own answers. They did every test on me for parasites, the nightmare of a barium enema on my severley dehydrated pencil thin body..They said "oh no..you don't have THAT..and anyways you'd have to have a biopsy during an episode..". I sure hope one of those 7 vials of blood they took show it this Monday. I quit drinking my wine in March because I was getting too deyhdrated from poor absorption and figured whatever my problem was, alcohol was not going to help.

Maltodextrin is ok, malt is not. Yea, I know...confusing :)

  10. Land-of lakes pure butter and unsalted IS GLUTEN FREE.

Read the ingredients in margarine, then read

    the same for margarine.........You choose.

If you have an issue with milk problems , butter is out of the question.

(All, if not most of the questions regarding products have been asked before. I would suggest that those that post, do a search on this site first, read the posts and if there is any further questions, please ask away, we are always here._

There is a vast amount of information available here...and it is soooooooo easy to find. :)

  11. Elaine:

It can be a long process. First, you have to heal your insides. If they are not able to absorb nutrients because of the damage that celiac has caused you will not gain weight. I have been gluten free for over a year and I am NOW beginning to put on weight. Six years ago, (sorry to say) I was a 12 pant. Last year, I was buying size 4s. I went shopping today and bought a size 8.

Once you recover from the damage, your body will put on weight, but it may take some time. Be patient and dilegent by being gluten free and you will gradually feel better and your body will heal itself.

As much as this disease has it's burdens, it also has it's rewards.....You can heal yourself.

Keep on the diet and I can assure you that your weight will return. :)
