  1. Pssshhh!!! Umm...OK. Think anyone will notice? Schools do not allow kids to use it, anyway.

Pssshhh!!! Just sayin' and I hear that Google and others might boycott as well. It's a bit of a news event when things go dark. It's rather news worthy when the internet protests for the first time.

    JUST SAYIN'

  2. Sweet Baby Ray's contains soy, last time I checked, that may or may not be a concern of your's. It is gluten-free though.

The OP requested a gluten free status....one step at a time. :)

To explain.. some people, after being gluten free for a considerable time, find that they have other intolerances. If you're new to the diet, it should not be a concern until gluten safely removed from your diet for some time. Many people have no issues with soy.

  3. I think I was warned for the same thing twice. Can someone help me. I know posted An internet site that I had one of my recipes posted on, but I think that was my only mistake. And how long does it take for my warn status to go away?

    Hey Dad!

Only you and the moderators can see your warning status. The general population cannot...hope that makes you feel a little bit better. B) But, I'm afraid that you have "outed" yourself by this post.

  4. I understand where you are....most of us have walked in your shoes before. Give it some time and soon you will be a master of your world. It will come, I promise.

There are several drink options. I will post a link at the end.

Also, there are several chain restaurants that have gluten free menus. If you don't live in the boonies like I do, you most likely have several options.

  5. temps will hit 105 and stay there for 3 to 5 days)

This a LARGE concern. Four year olds can't handle that duration of temperature. Adults can't. I hope you found medical help asap.

One of my girls had a 105 and it was medically addressed swiftly (within an hour or two). Yet, I believe it re-arranged the person that she is. A temp of 105 for three to five days would be a worst nightmare.

I would hope that you are exaggerating her illness to some DEGREE.

  6. Thanks Lisa! We got to this sushi place a lot so hopefully they will accommodate. They were overwhelmed by my gluten questions but they don't speak the best English.

I think you may be able to find some translations on line for free.

    Here in one option:

  7. Hi All, I am considering purchasing the Triumph Dining cards. Do you think they are worth it? We went to sushi last night and trying to explain my daughters gluten restrictions was impossible.

I am curious if the wait staff and chefs really respond positively or if they are annoyed by the card.

    Thanks!

I have used them in Mexican and Chinese restaurants and were well accepted. But someone at the restaurant needs to speak English well enough to convey what they can offer.

I would approach the manager, though.

  8. It makes me sick unless I make it myself.

The information I read about the production of vinegar indicated that microbes are added after the distillation process. Their composition is stated to be gluten free.

So...I guess you're saying that vinegar makes you ill, but it's not gluten related?

BTW - how do you make you own vinegar?..from a girl who makes cakes from a box.

  9. She has DQ8, which is one of the celiac genes. Moderate risk means that her copy of DQ8 gives her more risk for celiac than the general population.

Possessing a specific gene does not insure development of Celiac. Thirty percent of the general population carry these genes and never trigger Celiac Disease.

We have a long way to go for genetic testing and reasons for the sudden unset of this disease.

Gene testing, blood testing, endoscopy and dietary results are a cumulative diagnostic result.

  10. Good for you. You just made my point by providing a picture of how FROZEN OJ is made. The issue I brought up was with supposed "fresh" orange. You see, that cute little tank where they do the blending is where they add all the extra stuff in. Frozen OJ bypasses that whole stage.

Even on the Meijer website, it stated that natural flavors may contain gluten or allergens.

On the "Is That Gluten Free?" app (which I know is not 100% but pretty darn good) I see that Kroger and Meijer both list their OJ as gluten free, but Tropicana, Minute Maid, and Florida's Natural don't even come up on the list.

From what I've read about the companies who have decided to put the "Gluten Free" guarantee on their label, at least the national brands, they are reliable enough to trust that they mean it when they mark it. I would still be wary of all foods that DON'T guarantee gluten-free, because you just don't know what might have mixed with it.

Honey, there is NO guarantee. BUT we have come to trust SOME companies who will clearly disclose all sources of gluten....Kraft, Unilevel, Hormel

Just because a product is not listed does not mean it contains gluten. Learn to read labeled and don't rely on lists. Learn to walk on your own.....imagine your freedom!

  11. I know I absorb gluten through my skin. And I react by breaking out with psoriasis. When I went on a gluten free diet they went away for the first time in 60 years. When I accidentally opened a gravy packet and it poured over my hand they came back under my fingernails.

Most likely, you have a gluten allergy which manifests itself topically, as well as a gluten intolerance. Gluten cannot be absorbed through the skin, as Gemini stated.
