  1. This is part of NAET testing.....for many it is a strange concept..Mainly because most believe in only FDA regulated treatment & drugs... They will not look for alternative forms of help. NO I DO NOT in any form believe this practice will cure anything but it is used by a large group of alternative practitioners in the holistic world.....to dx allergies...our forefathers did not have the medical marvels that we see today.. BUt again there was much less illness back in the old days.. today we look for a pill for a cure-all.. Did you ever read all the side effects of these modern day drugs, they can be deadly alone without the illness... I have heard many say the chemo drugs are far worse than the cancer itself.....

So, just my opinion is that if someone can use their own body without drugs to finds a problem & they feel better then no harm done......I actually used to use this method years ago & a practitioner found a serious problem that he turn sent me to my PCP & later to a surgeon... I'm grateful this problem was found & fixed.....the only problem is finding a practitioner who truly understands the body... Way to many Quacks out there so hence the bad raps come...

Just think what did your grandparents use or do for finding things before modern medicine....they had to think outside the box....

some people are just dependent on a drug instead of trying to heal in a more natural way , drugs are like a badge of armour , I guess...

Mamaw - I highly respect your opinion and expertise. But this is what I am referring to specifically:

"Also, a little harder to do, but with practice you can do the same thing with holding up next to your chest and rocking your body back and forth. If your body rocks forward it is OK – but if your body rocks backward it rejects product. I am not as good with this method as the other that takes 2 people."

I think alternative medicine/theories has it's place after conventional diagnosis has not met a cause, reason and cure.

  2. Ok. I could see this if the food wasn 't sealed in a can. If they are reacting to anything, it's the can or glue or label. Or the fact that they know what's in the can.

I just see him sitting at home laughing that he got a bunch of people to try this. It's like those games you play at a Girl Scout sleepover.

    or maybe magic. B)

Seriously, the only way to determine gluten in a product is to simple read the label - no magic at all, just common sense.

  3. I'll take a stab...Have you eliminated dairy from your diet. Dairy can mimic symptoms of a glutening. After some healing takes place, dairy can be reintroduced successfully.

Are you dehydrated? Drink plenty of water to keep things moving along. Before going gluten free I had terrible lower/mid back issues with debilitating pain. Currently, when a bit constipated, I get that same old back issues, although not near as severe.

These products have been tested below the suggestion 20ppm. If a product is not listed, it has not been tested.

The dip has not been tested, but contains no gluten ingredients.

Frito-Lay is a pretty great company with regard to listing gluten.

  5. I have not gotten the real diagnosis yet( i should get it today). However, regardless of the diagnosis because it could be a false negative I plan to go gluten free. The only thing stopping me is i get overwhelmed when I get to the grocery store. Even when I look in my kitchen cabinets I get overwhelmed thinking where do I begin. I think part of it is that I'm still waiting to start my temporary job so money is tight and gluten free eating doesn't seem cheap. So if someone could shed some light on this for me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Keep it simple and natural. Meats, fish, rice, veggies and fresh fruit. And give it some time before you try prepared gluten free products.

The only gluten free products I buy are Van's waffles, pasta, an occasional cookie mix and Udi bread which I use for croutons and bread crumbs for cooking.

It is overwhelming and I recall may tears in the grocery isle. It will get better. Check out the Product Thread here. It can give you plenty of ideas.

  6. I am a 29 year old female and I feel awful. I constantly feel like I can't breathe, I have moments of feeling "surreal," I am tired all of the time, I have severe IBS, am lactose intolerant, I have aches and pains in my joints and neck and I don't have insurance. The breathing issue happens every day and usually multiple times a day anywhere from a couple minutes to a couple hours in length. I can't remember the last time I woke up feeling refreshed. I had a blood test for Celiac Disease many years ago, but it was negative. I was being treated for IBS and GERD while I had insurance more recently, but, since I told the doctor I had already tested negative for celiac disease, it did not come up again. Things seem to be getting progressively worse to the point that I feel like I'm dying. I'm really scared and confused. Hopefully I will have insurance again soon, but I am considering trying to go gluten and lactose free to see if I get any relief in the interum. If anyone has any suggestions for me, I'd really appreciate it.

    Hello and Welcome!

While none of us would safely presume to diagnose you, there might be a possibility that you may have a gluten allergy and/or your gluten intolerance has reached a new level. I would suggest that you continue to seek a professional medical opinion.

You can go gluten free. But you must know, that if you choose of pursue further medical testing for Celiac, it will compromise your findings. Many here are self-diagnosed, and feel quite comfortable in those shoes.

If you are miserable, try a complete 100% gluten free diet. Or, you can request a full Celiac Panel from your doctor. It might be worth the expense at this point.

  7. :(

im having trubble with buying frosting so i dont know what to do please give me a recipe.

    thank you all.

There is no gluten in Pillsbury Frosting (except coconut pecan). They are owned by Smuckers, a great company who will always list any form of gluten. And Duncan Hines Frostings are gluten free. Just read the label.

Tabz - when you want to find the gluten free status of a product, you can do a search on this site or use Google. You would be amazed on what you can find. :)

  8. I had a salad bar today- only having lettuce, carrots, cheese, eggs, and my own gluten-free turkey and my own dressing.

After I ate it I got bloated. All the things I choose were away from the crutons, and I went way after lunch after everything had been changed out and was new.

What do you think made me bloated?

First, for most people (celiac or not) salads are hard to digest. If bloating is your only symptom...you might want to lay off salads for a while.

OR maybe carbonation from a drink...not all roads lead to gluten.

  9. I have been gluten free since 2004 and chocolate will get me every time, within a half hour, with regard to reflux.

Yes, keep a food log. And it took me up to six months before I realized I had a gluten reaction. All food created a reaction after first diagnosed. Dairy delayed my physical recovery for a while and then every thing settled down.

I am convinced that to master the diet takes a good six months. It can get complicated.

  10. I was told 3-4 weeks Lactose free, giving the Villi a chance to start healing. I plan on waiting the 4 weeks and then a nice Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Can't wait.

Just a word of advice....choose your bread carefully. Some gluten free breads suck up the cheese and you're left with cheesy bread....grill quickly.

  11. So babies will be born with "the human condition". If you don't think you can accept what little human will come to you if they aren't "perfect", DO NOT even think of being a parent. If you think there is a "test" for parenting, there is. Children will test your patience every day.

:) So very well said! (big smile on my face)

  12. My mum had a box of gluten-free products sent to her when she was first diagnosed. It contained staples like, flour, crackers, cookies etc It was all stuff that you'd need in your pantry. Does anyone know/heard of this?

YES!!! The Gluten Free Galley is a relatively new company and the proprietor has Celiac Disease.

They will ship box orders with a combination of mixes and breads, pastries, cookies, etc... Their products are yummy. :D

hum...are you in Britain? This is a US business.

  13. I found out that I have Celiacs this year. I have been doing everything I can to advoid gluten. I call all 800 numbers if I think there might be gluten. I research before leaving if we are going out. I thought I was doing everything right, until today when I was at the grocery store. I was buying meat, and I was going to pick up chicken. Now I usually buy fresh, but I have bought frozen when I know I am going to make stuff for upcoming meals. Well, today I go to pick up the frozen chicken and something catches my eye, it says prepared in chicken broth then frozen. I could not believe this! Here I was thinking I was doing it right, when clear as day it says chicken broth all over it. I almost started to cry in the middle of the store. I never thought that raw chicken would be a problem. I am not sure what to do now. SHould I call the doctor to see about a blood test? I don'tknow what good that would do, but I would hate to think that this whole year, I have done nothing right. Has this happened to any of you before?

Have you gotten symptoms from that chicken in the past? It's not likely, there was gluten in that broth. You could google the companies name and check on it's status.
