  1. Well then, I guess I should behave! Thanks Scott.
  2. As in my topic, what is the significance of the members "Reputation Level" found on your profile page?
  3. Crohns Disease and smoking have a correlation, in minimizing the symptoms. Celiac and Crohns have similar digestive issues. Crohns generally is associated with the large intestines. Might be something to look into. ..otherwise, you have received great advise.
  4. Gluten can effect other areas of our bodies. It's called Celiac Disease when the autoimmune reaction is contained in the small intestines. Gluten Ataxia can effect the nervous system. That might be something you might look into. Open Original Shared Link Good luck to you in your search.
  5. Open Original Shared Link This is the full blood panel that you should request from your doctor: 1. Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG 2. Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA 3. Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA 4. Total IgA level. Every lab had it's own ranges and everyone is different...
  6. Hi and Welcome! Yes, certainly many of your symptoms can be related to Celiac. Ask you doctors to give you a full Serologic Celiac Panel. Here is some information of testing: Open Original Shared Link
  7. Vaseline is gluten free. It is only petroleum jelly - nothing else. Chapstick is gluten free, but I'm not aware of a soy association.
  8. Hi Meagan! Welcome to the Board! Could you please post your blood test results. Generally, if you have positive results in the Celiac Panel, it's considered diagnostic. The blood panel, endoscopy/biopsy, or positive dietary response can individually diagnose for Celiac. Often times, the biopsies can miss effected areas and it's inconclusive...
  9. Hi and Welcome! Gluten free cooking does not need to be difficult. Meats, seafood, rice, potatoes, fresh veggies and fruit are easy to prepare. If you would like to tackle gluten free baking, there are plenty of recipes here on this thread....take a walk around. And Betty Crocker has four, ready made mixed for some great dessert options, available...
  10. The forum periodically clears itself. After a short period of time, you will see the posts accumulate.
  11. Yes, if you feel comfortable with that doctor, ask him to run a full metabolic blood panel to check for mineral and vitamin deficiencies. Most of us, due to Celiac, are deficient in several things. B-12 and Folic Acid are common.

ARCHIVED What Will The Doctor Say?

Well, no doctor is required to start the diet and if you are feeling better on the gluten free diet, there is an indication that gluten is an issue for you. If your doctor would like to test you for Celiac, you must continue to consume gluten for the most accuracy in testing. But, then, you already know that you feel better not eating gluten. The...
  13. Emily, how about the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I plan on meeting one Sillie there is July! It's a lovely place.

ARCHIVED A New Doctor Or Go Gluten Free?

Thanks for the clarification. But she should never be denied her records, even with a minimal fee, as she was told it was "confidential".
  15. Lisa "Goosey" is a good beginning.
  16. Out of the mouths of babes... Hum, I was the neighborhood hooker. Long story made short.. Before married, yet dating hubby, I flew in a small, hokey barnstorming air show. In a 1929 bi-plane, I threw out a hook to "hook" to mail, to demonstrating how the mail was delivered after he ponies got tired, and planes took to the air. The neighborhood...

ARCHIVED A New Doctor Or Go Gluten Free?

This statement made me so angry! These are YOUR records, and you paid for them. DEMAND your results! OK, I'm calm now........ If you don't get satisfaction from your doctor, try the diet for a month or two. It might just surprise you.
  18. Often times, it's recommended that you remove dairy for a short period of time, until some healing can take place. Dairy can often mimic symptoms of gluten. It can be re-introduced after a few weeks. Healing is often rapid in young children, with compliance of the diet.
  19. Here is an article of interest: Open Original Shared Link Advertisement/p/articles/mi_m0847/is_n3_v13/ai_8191936/ Obviously, this forum would not let me post, but here is a copy and paste of the article. MALABSORPTION IN ALCOHOLISM Direct Effects Ethanol consumption has both acute and chronic effects on the gastrointestinal tract. The acute effects...
  20. I don't have studies, but I believe it to be true in a back handed way. 1. Alcoholics don't eat, they drink 2. Causing severe malnourishment and weight loss 3. Causing destruction of the villi, the body is feeding on itself. 4. Thus a diagnosis of Celiac can be possible Can you go back to eating gluten after the alcohol is removed and the gut...
  21. NO DOUBT! Welcome mat is out!
  22. In these many years, I have not heard a concern.
  23. I don't know the age of your children, but I would be willing to bet that you can cook daily meals totally gluten free, and no one would know the difference. If you need assistance doing that, the Baking, Recipe Thread has many suggestions. Most meals can be cooked gluten free, and a substitution needs to be made for bread and pasta. I really is pretty...
  24. Happy for you Janet...glad you have someone who can work with you. Moms know best.
  25. Em, you might want to consider a few stop lights. Might miss sumfin impooooorrtant.
