ARCHIVED Should I Have My Children Tested?
Lisa replied to Mgyoung77's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Mgyoung77... Should you decide to have your children tested, this is the panel that should be ordered by your doctor: The following are the celiac specific blood tests: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA This... -
ARCHIVED Should I Have My Children Tested?
Lisa replied to Mgyoung77's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't see a reason to test them unless they show symptoms. A gene test just shows a low probability/association. <wouldn't waste my time and money at this time. I don't know how old your children are, but keep a keen watch. No need to be alarmed until there is an issue. AND WELCOME! -
ARCHIVED Can Anyone Tell Me If These Products Are Gluten-Free?
Lisa replied to sneaky-flute's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Most of your concern should reside with your shampoo and soap bar, as both could find their way into your mouth. The other ingredients would most likely not contain any gluten. But, you are wise to inquire. There is generally an 1-800 number on the back of the product, to find a customer rep who could answer your questions. -
ARCHIVED Can Anyone Tell Me If These Products Are Gluten-Free?
Lisa replied to sneaky-flute's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
But, please also note that Campbell's US and Campbell's Canada have a very different list of gluten free options. If you contact them by phone, they will send you their gluten free listings by snail mail, with several coupons of their products that, for the large part, are NOT gluten free. But...I guess it's the thought that counts. I buy Swanson... -

I AGREE! Progress, may be not for all, but it's still progress. The fine tuning comes with exposure, marketing reports, profits and time. I do think we have a large voice and a big pocket book, at least for the time being. And welcome mythumpa!

ARCHIVED Discussion About Liquor
Lisa replied to archaeo in FL's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
All distilled alcohols are considered safe for most people with Celiac to consume. But, there are a few that I know of that do react to grain based alcohol. /celiac-disease/gluten-free-alcoholic-beverages-r218/ -
ARCHIVED Starting A Gluten-Free Diet After 4 Years...
Lisa replied to RaeSaldivar's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Welcome Rae! Many here are self diagnosed and feel quite comfortable with that. If you choose to forgo testing, start simple. Meats, seafood, rice, veggies, potatoes and fresh fruit. No need for processed foods at the moment, or keep them to a minimum. I would be as strict as possible for over a month or so. If you have a possitive dietary response... -
ARCHIVED Discrimination Against Celiacs?
Lisa replied to alucard4545's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree. She is a highly paid actor and contracts are detailed. We don't know the facts and may never know. I don't know Jennifer's current state of health, or at the point of her dismissal .Nor do I know the reason for her dismissal by the networks. Do YOU know? As I stated earlier (as an advanced member)....I'm witholding judgement. -
ARCHIVED I'm A Newbie
Lisa replied to zebra's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I hope you get good news regarding your GI visit. Good news meaning that you find an answser to your distress. I would certainly recommend a full biopsy with 8-10 samples, should you have an endoscopy exam. The following are the celiac specific blood tests: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue... -

Hot Cocoa Causing Stomach Problems?
Lisa replied to megansmommy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sometimes we have to remind ourselves to think outside of the box. Chocolate and High Frutose Corn Syrup give me terrible reflux within 15-20 minutes, with chocolate being the worst as far as symptoms. It's not gluten related, yet bad enough that I try to avoid it as much as possible. I'm not sure if this is your situation, but.... OH WOW... -

WOW...Things change quickly around here. Locking the history of the Phsillies is a WOW, but technically, it's understandable. Not that I know "tech-nicks". Tom is the King and well deserved and honored. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. -

ARCHIVED Impatient
Lisa replied to AmberRS's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Amber and welcome! Could you post your blood test results here. We have some great peeps who can interpret them for you. I did everything backwards. I was really sick and my GP sent me to a GI who confirmed my diagnosis as Celiac via Biopsy. I had a blood test several months after being gluten free, which was negative. If possitive, that alone... -

I have an issue...may be me, but not too sure It seems that the longer the thread, the longer it takes to open up "View New Content". When I check in on the Sillie Thread, I can literally walk away and come back. New threads, no problem. The wait becomes progressive with the amount of posts.
