ARCHIVED Werther's Original Hard Candy
2Boys4Me posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know if Werther's original is gluten-free? The ingredients look okay, but I can't find a website or phone number to confirm it. Thanks. -
Thanks Judy. I'm pretty sure they have one in Victoria, but Ty is rather "selective". Read: picky. I'll see if I can check out a menu on line. I did find a pizza place where we can just show up and 20 minutes later we can have a gluten-free pizza. We'll have something there for sure.

Open Original Shared Link There's a link to the summit mentioned earlier. Summer holidays in the mountains, perhaps?

If we find a Red Robin (very few of them in Canada, but we're going to Disneyland in Dec) that's gluten-free friendly, do any of you know if they have any "Kid-friendly" items? Or is it all quesadillas and mushroom-swiss burgers that no 6 year old would ever eat?

What about Fry's? That's gluten-free. Not sure if it's available in the UK, though. -

I always thought ConAgra was a company that clearly listed Wheat, Rye, Oats and Barley. -

Be sure to read the label on each McCain's product. Don't just grab one and go. Some of the "supreme" or "crispy" fries contain wheat. Also, I have never seen gluten-free written on a Canadian McCains package, but we haven't purchased fries in a while. I usually use potatoes and make oven baked fries with my own spices. -
ARCHIVED Would You Leave Your Kids?
2Boys4Me replied to skipper30's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Mine must be the only MIL to be trusted out there. I left my kids with her for two weeks in February. She baked gluten-free pies, and cookies for Ty to have as treats. AND she baked him gluten-free cupcakes and packed a lunch for him when he went to a birthday party where the parents spoke very little English. The party was at a restaurant (the parents of... -
ARCHIVED What's The General Rule For Xanthum Gum?
2Boys4Me replied to ilmotherof2's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Which one is considered Bette Hagman's "Basic"? All my recipes say to use the rice flour, featherlight, 4 bean, light bean. They all have names, but none of the names are "basic". I'm kind of in the market for an all-purpose mix. I can't find one I think is fabulous. Maybe none of them are. -
ARCHIVED Dr.s Are Frustrating Me...
2Boys4Me replied to num1habsfan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You're in/near Nanton, right? Is your pediatric GI Dr. Butzner? He did Ty's endoscopy but Dr. Scott is his doctor. I understand Nanton has a new gluten-free bakery and they also have many other items as well. Can't remember the name but sort of a gluten-free M&M Meat Shop. Have you tried any of their products or do your other allergies prevent it? -
ARCHIVED Worcestershire Sauce
2Boys4Me replied to kb8ogn's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I posted a recipe a while ago in a very lengthy worcestershire sauce thread. I think the thread was started by Carriefaith, and if you search recipes you should find it. Or google "homemade worcestershire sauce". That's how I found the recipe. I believe one site had three, and I made the easiest one. Stinky to make, but it tastes pretty much the same. -
What brand? Edited to say...I see the title says Nestle. I will just say that I'm only learning how to read, and subsequently pay attention to what I've read.

ARCHIVED What's With Kraft?!?
2Boys4Me replied to JSmith's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
On the front of the label is a picture of a salad with the word "Kraft" and the name of the salad dressing. On the back are the Nutrition Facts per 1 tbsp (15mL), how many calories, how much cholesterol, breakdown of fats, percentage sodium, carbs, fibre, etc. Also on the back is the Kraft 800# and website, and a bunch of checkmarks next to phrases like... -
ARCHIVED I Want To Be The First Celiac To.....
2Boys4Me replied to a topic in Publications & Publicity
Plus the families that eat with them. Let's face it, when one person in the family has Celiac, it changes everyone's diet to a certain extent. We only buy gluten-free cereal now. Where 4 people used to eat Kellogg's now it's zero. The end result has to be to encourage more people to get on board with being celiac friendly or at least aware that bread=flour... -
ARCHIVED What's With Kraft?!?
2Boys4Me replied to JSmith's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, yes, the label is the seal around the lid - easy to destroy. And not the dressing at my house. I'm talking about when we go to Gramma's house or cousin's houses or whatever and Ty gets it into his head to actually eat a salad. -
ARCHIVED What's With Kraft?!?
2Boys4Me replied to JSmith's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Oh, I know, but if it's salad dressing the label is destroyed immediately. Now you can't check w/o going to the store. Or unless you have the kinds of salad dressing memorized. Which I think is pretty much anything but Caesar. -
ARCHIVED Please Help Me Find Gluten In This Products
2Boys4Me replied to Carriefaith's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm not too sure about Kosher laws either, I only know that people who eat kosher could never have a cheeseburger, because they can't mix meat and dairy. I thought that Parve/Pareve meant never ever been near anything dairy ever. We need some help from our Jewish friends. Isn't Fiddle-faddle Jewish? Or am I confusing her with someone else? -

ARCHIVED Please Help Me Find Gluten In This Products
2Boys4Me replied to Carriefaith's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Carrie, We don't use any of those products so I can't help as far as that goes. About the Kosher thing though, I think you want to be buying Parve or Pareve labelled products that have never come into contact with dairy. Here are a couple of sites that may have some helpful info. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Dr.s Are Frustrating Me...
2Boys4Me replied to num1habsfan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm sure Ty's GI doc or the literature or something said 1/49th of a slice of bread...which is even less than your estimate. I can't count the number of times have I been tempted to get a slice of bread and cut it into 49 pieces, just so I could have an image of how small that is. -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Stampede Breakfast Yesterday
2Boys4Me replied to 2Boys4Me's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Ouch! I hope you feel better soon. Too bad about the Stampede article. I would have loved to read that. When we went, we took popcorn and apples. We were only there from 6pm until 10:30, but they did have some fudge where the workers were knowledgeable. We asked what the fudge was made from and they said do you have allergies. My husband said, "He can't have... -
ARCHIVED Good Gluten Free Bread?
2Boys4Me replied to porterpotti's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Guhlia~ Do you know if that's the same Bagel recipe as the GFG Bakes Bread? I'm trying that one later this afternoon. Walker had a craving for bagels so we picked some up today at Safeway and laughed out loud because the first four ingredients were wheat flour/germ/bran and barley. He offered them to Ty who laughed and said No Way. Mom, you make me...
