  1. Sandy...you must be kidding! NO SNOW! We are trying to finish our renos. Our 7 day job in the sun turned into a three week after work epic trying not to have rain pouring into our house through the 2 giant holes where the door and window used to be. We did get the door and window in last Sunday. Environment Canada says it's supposed to be sunny & ...
  2. Canola? That's what I used. Will you post the pineapple fried rice recipe please?
  3. I call the soap/laundry/detergent aisle the "stinky" aisle. I refer to perfume as "smelly". I've tried some of these recipes below, and they work well. The vinegar ones are stinky but in a rather inoffensive way. (Sorry for the length of this post.) Open Original Shared Link white vinegar Mildly acidic white vinegar dissolves dirt, soap scum, and...
  4. Not at all!
  5. Drink up me hearties! Yo Ho!
  6. It's just that we appear to be roughly the same age, and my kids are almost 7 and almost 9. You just don't appear to be a "little ol' granny". Ick. My dad and Ty are all stretched out and disgusting on my new avatar. Huh. The thingy said the update to Ty in his hockey didn't work and there he is. But really...for a brief moment in time there...
  7. Hijacking thread a bit to comment on Nini & CdnKaren's posts. When Walker was about 4 or 5 months old we spent a few days in Calgary (we'd been living in Edmonton) and our niece Riana, 8 at the time, was very concerned because she couldn't find Walker's soft spot. She asked me where it was, and I shrugged and said that I didn't really go around feeling...
  8. 2Boys4Me=I have 2 boys. 4 if you count DH and the dog. Floridian - There's a typo under your avatar. I'm certain it should say me and my baby, not grandbaby.
  9. Open Original Shared Link I was searching the Club House site looking for marinade recipes and found these recipes. I haven't tried any yet, but I hope to try the chocolate brownies soon. I'm a sucker for the Betty Crocker hot fudge brownies, but I won't make them since Ty can't have any.
  10. I thought Cap'n Crunch had oat flour. I may be wrong. I know Ty can't have them for either oat flour or malt reasons.
  11. Most of the cheese flavoured Doritos are gluteny. Nacho cheese and spicy (nacho) cheese or whatever being two of them. HOWEVER...for those cheese loving Dorito folks, the Doritos Zesty Cheese is gluten-free according to the CANADIAN list from Frito-Lay dated May 5/06. Also, if you can find them (and I can't anymore) Superstore's PC Rebellos Spicy Nacho...
  12. I have Wheat Free Menus & Recipes by Carol Fenster. A girlfriend from work found it on her book club order form and ordered it for me as a surprise. (Very thoughtful!) I use it for Lemon Chicken, teriyaki sauce, cookies and a few others. I tried the bagels, but they were a disaster. I am not a great cook nor a great baker...I don't enjoy it and I...
  13. Patti - You have to try the soft chewy breadsticks. They are very much like Carriefaith's (if not the same) and they are amazing. I did try the blueberry cobbler (can't remember the name of the recipe for the topping part - sweet biscuits?) and it was good at the edges, but not quite cooked in the centre. Next time I'll make smaller gobs of dough or bake...
  14. Welcome Ricco! I am sure you'll make lots of new friends and get some good advice and recipes from the forum. PS, I'm Canadian. There are a few Aussies and Kiwis, too. Just have to look a bit harder for them, they are few and far between. I think you're the first Dutch poster, though.
  15. I'm confused . I see three lovely ladies. I thought I would see some kind of hideous Quasimodo kind of thing the way you were talking.
  16. The first thing I thought was: No it doesn't! Sugar comes from sugar beets. Same result...different plants. All sugar beets in Canada are grown in southern Alberta. It's too cold here to grow sugar cane.
  17. Happy Birthday!
  18. Michelle - you beat me to it. I was going to say that my long ago borderline passing grade in high school chemistry made me think it was H2O - water.
  19. Ursula here's a (((HUG))). Do you still have plans to leave? Have you given any more thought to that? I'm so sorry about your family. Surely they must see how you suffer if you eat gluten or other foods you are intolerant to. I wish that I could help, but with so many bad examples of other celiacs close to them, I guess they just don't want to get it...
  20. I was just wondering if you wrote back to Kristi to say you were pleased with the FIRST formula change 6 months ago, it's the new one you're concerned about. I'm also curious how many people sent in thank you emails when they made the original change from gluten to gluten free vs how many are sending in notes that they are disappointed/angry about the...
  21. Banana Bread. Ty eats some everyday at school. Gramma says the Sugar Cookies taste just the same as the ones made with all-purpose flour.
  22. I ran out of time, so ended up baking half right away and chilling the rest of the dough and baking the rest later. I couldn't tell the difference. They were delish! I ate six right away . Then my friend who'd tried my gluten-free banana cake and said it was good, but not sticky tried them and said they were good. I said they weren't sticky. Then we laughed...
  23. My younger son is the only one in our family with celiac and he has no outward symptoms. That is, he never spends all day in the bathroom or has stomachaches. I will buy products for him that have no gluten-containing ingredients (items from Kraft, ConAgra, Hershey, etc.) including products that say "made in the same facility as wheat products." I will NOT...
  24. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH! The leaves are changing colour and it's getting dark at 8:20! I'm not ready yet!
