  1. You mean Kraft has a gluten-free worstershire sauce? I don't think they make that in Canada. It's not on the Gluten-free/Lactose-free/Kosher list. I've never seen it. I think having malt in the w. sauce is a federal law in Canada. ( kidding, kidding) Open Original Shared Link
  2. There was a thread on this a while ago. I found a recipe and posted it. Just hang on sec while I open another window and find it. Open Original Shared Link I hope that link works. It's in the recipes section in a thread titled "CarrieFaith, found this today" thread started by me.
  3. Ditto on the recommendation for Incredible Edible Gluten-Free Food for Kids. It's the first cookbook I bought after my son was diagnosed.
  4. Just found out about this for you grown-ups who want to go. I don't think my six year old will be interested. Lori-When's your friend's wedding? I hope it's right after this dinner so they get some practice cooking for you. SAIT Dinner June 21, 2006 Fine Dining - 5 Course Gluten Free Meal prepared by students of the SAIT Culinary Arts Professional...
  5. Open Original Shared Link There's a link to all the locations in Edmonton and Red Deer. Looks like that Chebe bread all the Americans rave about. Are they any good? Should I try to get some in my health food store? I tried making some from scratch, and they're okay, I just can't tell if they're cooked properly. I baked them a bit longer than indicated...
  6. In our family, it's my six year old son who has celiac. My Mom & Dad live pretty far, so they haven't seen us since diagnosis (Aug. 2005.) I KNOW my Mom will be on board with cooking gluten-free for the time we are there (whenever we go), but I am pretty sure that my Dad won't quite get it. He'll want to go out and about and just stop at a shopping centre...
  7. Thanks, I'll try another search.
  8. I found a recipe for Angel Food Loaf in a Bette Hagman book. I wonder if anyone has tried it and how does it taste? Does anyone have a fool-proof recipe to share?
  9. I've made the Bette Hagman graham crackers, and I thought they had too much cinnamon. I discovered that they crisp up and get hard after coming out of the oven. The first time they were so soft I cooked them for longer and then the edges ended up burned and the middle soft so I gave up and took them out. Lo and behold a while later they were like crackers...
  10. No, not Bob. It would get confusing because of Bob of the Red Mill fame. Maybe Mike or Joe.
  11. Off Topic - that makes me wonder why Kellogg's doesn't have their R&D dept. working on artificial malt.
  12. Oh, I know, it's just that with all the testing mentioned a gene test was absent, so I wasn't sure how the Sarahjo knew that for sure.
  13. I wonder how you know she has the gene. Does anyone else in your family have celiac?
  14. The drive-thru ATM and ATM at the bank I use have self sticking envelopes. It's the Royal Bank of Canada. If our ATMs can find and use them, I don't know why American ones can't. Don't know the manufacturer or supplier, though.
  15. Cheesecake Crust 1/3 cup butter 1/4 cup sugar 1 1/3 cups graham cracker crumbs (I've never found these in the store. I use the Bette Hagman recipe but with less cinnamon than she calls for) Middle 250g (8oz) cream cheese 1 cup icing sugar 1 tsp vanilla 1 pkg dream whip, prepared Top 1 can cherry pie filling Mix together melted butter,...
  16. Aha! FINALLY something we Canadians have that you guys don't. Ty loves Guacamole Doritos. And for those Canadians who want Nacho Cheese flavoured dorito type chips head out to Superstore for PC Rebellos cheese flavoured nacho chips. __________ Go Flames Go! It's 3-0 in the 2nd.
  17. I have a no-bake cheesecake sometimes referred to as the crack-cocaine of cheesecake. It has Philly cream cheese, dream whip, icing sugar and pie filling/fruit for the topping. It goes on a gluten-free graham cracker crumb crust. Any takers?
  18. I'd love it! I make up a monthly supper plan (or try to, sometimes it's only two weeks) but I need some new kid-friendly recipes. Thanks in advance.
  19. I believe it's: kin-ICK-i-NICK. I've heard it that way a couple of times from people who live in Edmonton where the HQ is.
  20. This is the first cookbook I bought and I really like it. The sloppy joes, for example, are no harder to make than from a mix, except for dirtying a few measuring spoons, and everyone in my family said they were better than the mix. I make the banana bread about 2 or 3x a month. I get 3 or 4 mini loaves out of one recipe. Ty takes it every day for lunch at...
  21. Good Luck! Only two hours until lunch.
  22. I was at McDonald's last week, getting take out. I said the the lady taking the order (about 6 times) Cheeseburger...plain...NO bun...he's allergic...don't take it OFF a bun, I don't want it to ever touch a bun. So she tried to give me a cheeseburger w/o cheese instead of with ONLY cheese, and we were being interrupted every two minutes by the guy who ordered...
  23. We just use regular insulated lunch bags with ice packs in them. The ice packs can be found near the lunch bags or thermoses.
  24. Interesting...but if it's frozen, why wouldn't you just make a fresh one yourself? I can say that, because I'm at work during pizza and movie night here, so I don't have to make pizzas.
