  2. We use Old El Paso hard (corn) taco shells and the seasoning packet (powder, add water and ground beef) all the time. The company (Gen Mills?) said they always clearly label gluten as wheat, rye, oats, barley/malt. Were they soft tacos? If so, there's your answer. I don't think Old El Paso makes soft tortillas that aren't flour. Not sure about the salsa sauce...

  13. Tell the doctor that you had inconclusive blood results but a positive dietary response, and that you'd like them tested. If the doctor tests for anemia, and they have low iron, get the Celiac blood panel done. Very low iron was my son's symptom. No GI issues at all.

  16. I can't find a phone # for Kindersurprise, tried emailing from the website and I don't think it worked. They're gluten-free, right? There's nothing at all suspicious in the ingredients, I just want to double check in case the Easter Bunny drops off a Kindersurprise Maxi in a couple of weeks.
  17. My older gluten-eating son had a hockey wrap up party at the Winter Club in Calgary. They were having hot dogs and fries and making their own sundaes.   18. Lie to your friends, Radman. Tell them it's contagious and soon THEY won't be able to drink beer either because you've infected them. That'll shut them up and you can have all the rum/vodka/tequila/jack daniels/whatever you want with no repercussions. Then you can sit there drinking your drink with your little secret smile and watch them freak out.

My son (diagnosed at 5 1/2) was always skinny, but with a tiny pot belly (not big like malnourished African babies) and other than that...extremely low iron levels which we discovered at age five. He never ever complained of a stomach ache. Looking back he never ate bread, but did eat buns and tons of pasta and pizza. No vomiting, no diarrhea, no constipation...

  24. I have a good recipe for Beef & Broccoli if you're interested. The trick is finding gluten-free Oyster sauce. Of course, you'd have to cook it as well, not as fun as going out.
  25. We didn't go to ACH, just the nearest Calgary Lab Services where it took 2 people (me and a nurse) to hold him still and another one to get the blood. Ty had a follow-up last month and then next March we'll go to the new "lego" ACH. Have you had our follow-up endoscopy? I've read a few posts where you intend to.
