The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
cyclinglady replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Seriously, it hit 100 yesterday and we opted for cold Costco chicken, cold salad and cold cantaloupe. Tonight it is grilled pork tenderloin and more cold salad and fruit. It is expected to be even HOTTER! Ugh! What happened to "Gray May" (ocean-driven, cloudy-overcast that typically occurs until noon and keeps temperatures moderate)? I sure hope "June... -

There is malted barley in regular Rice Krispies, but I know that there is a gluten free version of this cereal by the Kellogg's. Check the label again? -
ARCHIVED New And Really Really Need Help
cyclinglady replied to samantha303's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Keep eating gluten until all testing is complete (lactose intolerance often goes hand-in-hand with celiac disease due to intestinal damage) so that might have to go until you are healed. Sorry you are feeling unwell. -
ARCHIVED I'm Sure You Get Asked All The Time, But...lab Results
cyclinglady replied to ladyhutch's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes! I was a crazy lady! I became anxious and irritable. Frankly, I just did not think well. Weird, since I used to be a very successful marketing manager before I opted to stay at home with my daughter. I blamed it on perimenopause, but it was Celiac disease. My husband and I still become irritable if we accidentally ingest gluten (he can not have gluten... -

ARCHIVED Newbie With Question On Labs
cyclinglady replied to SPinch03's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yep, I have had Hashi's for 20 years. My antibodies have been off the charts over the years. I have thalassemia, so I have always been slightly anemic. Then the last year of perimenopause I began very anemic. No one suspected anything. Lowest ferritin was a 2. Went for a routine colonoscopy and the GI suspected Celiac. Blood test mildly positive...- 3 replies

I am not a dentist, but those look like teeth affected by celiac based on my highly scientific research "Google Images"! Ha! Sure an endoscopy is invasive, but why not start with a celiac blood panel? Here is a link to the University of Chicago's celiac website. Print off testing procedures and symptom list to share with the Ped Gastro. Open Original...

ARCHIVED Always Feel Like I'm Having A Reaction
cyclinglady replied to imari's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Good strategy on sticking to whole foods! I can tell you that I after my diagnosis, I started consuming gluten-free breads and desserts that I made or bought for my gluten-free husband for the past 13 years. I think my gut could not handle Xanthan gum. It could not handle lots of things. Things really improved when I ate whole foods and allowed time to... -
I just bake gluten-free items for everyone and no one can tell the difference. My daughter requested my gluten-free cake over a store-bought bakery cake that was rated best in our county! Adults rave too. But bragging is not the topic. I would never bake with gluten in my kitchen. It is too hard to contain. My husband has been gluten-free for 13 years...

Feeling Worse 1 Month Gf
cyclinglady replied to Sueps's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Keep at it! Took me six weeks to get relief and I only got tummy issues during the actual diagnostic period (ate tons of gluten as a farewell). Do not go back to eating gluten. Carpool time. Got to go. -

ARCHIVED Celiac Elusiveness Of Diagnosis In The Philippines
cyclinglady replied to GeorgeDaniel's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So, you had both an endoscopy and a colonoscopy? I had both but the gastro took biopsies of the small intestine during the endoscopy to determine celiac disease. The colonoscopy was just a well-check since I was over 50. Yes, you can have more than just celiac. -

ARCHIVED Self-Diagnosis
cyclinglady replied to newuser01's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There is no "reliable advice" regarding the amount of time it takes to heal from Celiac Disease. That is because it is an autoimmune disorder that relies on diet alone for healing and everyone heals at a different pace. How can doctors or researchers track actual compliance from patients other than locking them up and feeding them gluten free foods for... -

cyclinglady replied to Glutens gotta go's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here is the link to U of C: Open Original Shared Link A gene test is not really worthless but is typically used to help diagnosis (or exclude) when the other celiac tests have been done. Your doctor skipped some critical tests. I would find another doctor. If you change your diet now, you'll never really know if you have celiac disease. A firm diagnosis... -
ARCHIVED Help- Sick Children Taken Away From Us
cyclinglady replied to scaredfatherof3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The foster parents should not start a gluten free diet! You have to be consuming gluten in order to be properly tested. A definitive diagnosis would be best in this instance so that this family can be reunited.
