  1. I took Lactaid Ultra. I mentioned the two kinds that were gluten-free. But maybe they are not, according to the rep. I would think that if you are fine when you take Lactaid (but maybe switch to a gluten-free brand) then it is just lactose intolerance. Lactose shouldn't damage your system when you are taking the enzyme to digest it.
  2. I just went on the Lactaid website and sure enough the kind that I took is not gluten-free. Only the Fast Act caplets and the Original Strength caplets are gluten-free.
  3. Lactaid has gluten! No wonder I got sick. I was trying to figure out if I was casein or lactose intolerant and I was craving cheese like crazy so I took a Lactaid pill. Oops.
  4. I gradually had improved bm's in about three to four months of being gluten-free.
  5. That's cool. I wonder if the Edmonton German Canadian Club can do the same?

    ARCHIVED Nyc Pizza

Last week I had two different people tell me that it is okay to eat spelt. I told them spelt is wheat and they didn't believe me!
  7. Stephanie, he looks just like my male cat.

    ARCHIVED Homeopathic Doctors

I'm all for natural ways to heal (i.e. herbal and looking at lifestyle, environment...), but not homeopaths. The little white pills are basically a sugar pill. I'll try to find the research on this.
  9. What is the name of the Canadian company that has gluten-free oats? I would love to get some.
  10. Does Booster Juice have some gluten-free drinks? I used to go there all the time before I went gluten-free. I would actually be able to have something to eat (drink) on campus if they were gluten-free.
  11. I googled it for you because I love marzipan, but I have not had any since going gluten-free. That codex is such a pain. It is hard enough shopping here knowing that gluten-free means gluten-free and every time I see a European product sold here that looks good, I wonder if it is really safe. 2 cups of confectioners’ sugar ½ pound of finely ground bl...
  12. I don't like the Kinnickinnik frozen premade breads, but I bought the package to make the same bread myself, and it is great. I have made some of Bette Hagman's breads from scratch and they are good. I have also made the Celimix breads, they are a good starting point, but not great.
  13. I am from Alberta. Wow that's quite a move from Prince George to NJ. But for a fireman, that's great. I am using St. Ives, but I'm not completely sure that they are gluten-free. I just got rid of the soap I was using because it has wheat in it, how dumb. Does anyone know if vaseline is gluten-free?
  14. Depending on which store I buy them from, I have seen some labelled and some not.
  15. I stick with the Lays Stax because they are made in a separate factory.
  16. I'm kind of regretting that I started this topic at all. Thanks for looking into the CFIA regulations.
  17. I have been having gastro problems for the past month too. I will try an elimination diet. But, what can I replace cheese with to really fill me up? I have a very high metabolism and I need to eat often.
  18. I can't use Burts Bees lip products. I get extremely irritated lips from using them. It's too bad because it's hard to find good gluten-free products.
  19. I got a flu shot last week and I had no problems.
  20. BellyTimber, Parmalat is a large dairy products manufacturer in Canada. And they have stated that virtually none of their products are gluten-free.
  21. Our Lea & Perrins is the same recipe as the UK version. It's like Smirnoff Ice in Canada is made without malt, but in the U.S. with malt. Apparently we have more European tastebuds? Really is Presidents Choice soy sauce gluten free?
  22. You know, I don't have a celiac diagnosis, but my quality of life has improved significantly since going gluten-free. I just saw my doctor the other day, and she is very happy with the improvements to my health. She doesn't think it would be a good idea to eat gluten again just to get the endoscopy done, which may end up being inconclusive anyways. Where...
  23. Lizzy, I stopped eating Vans waffles after I read their contamination statement. It's really too bad because they taste so good. But, I don't want to take any chances since I am very sensitive to gluten. Stephanie is referring to Nightshade intolerance (potatoes, etc). If you do a search you will find some info. on this topic.
  24. I agree with Richard in that the internet is an open market where everything is for sale. You have to use caution with using websites for your primary information. It is always a good idea to post links to peer-reviewed scientific articles to back up your arguments.
  25. I have flat feet.
