ARCHIVED Need To Decide To Biopsy Or Not.....help Please!
AmandaD replied to Wendyp's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have three kids myself - and biopsy proven celiac. If it were my children - even though it's an expensive deductible, etc...I would have the biopsy done. So many people question celiac - especially when it's in children. They can be kind of crappy to parents until they understand that the child has the full, gold standard diagnosis and then you can actually... -
ARCHIVED How Long Did It Rtake You To Recover After Diagnosis?
AmandaD replied to sillyyak's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was diagnosed by biospy Sept. 5 and while things seem to be better, I still have setbacks on some days. And I know for a fact that at three months post-dx I was just STARTING to feel like things were change. Think - really it's only been a matter of weeks. AmandaD Sillyak - Did you have the ttg test and endoscopy to determine it was celiac? -

ARCHIVED What Do My Lab Results Mean
AmandaD replied to jeffreyd's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If these are from a doctor's office, then you have celiac. Your ttg test is specific for the celiac antibody - anything higher than 10 is considered positive for celiac. Although, your doc should be talking to you about these results. You'll need the endoscopy next to determine the extent of the condition/villi flattening. -

Glad to hear that -I'll be going in in about 2 months for my 6 month checkup. Can I ask how you've done overall - have all symptoms stopped completely for you? Or do you occasionally have gluten slip-ups? -

AmandaD replied to roses8's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My TTG antibody level at my doctor's office was only 10.5 and they found moderate damage when they did the endoscopy...weird? -
Has anyone had a gluten reaction to painting walls in your house with paint? Is that something I need to be careful of? Also does anybody have a reaction if they eat a really high fat meal? Thanks again!

ARCHIVED celiac disease And Other Food Intolerances?
AmandaD replied to ebrbetty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
BETTY - Be careful of some types of Rice milk and Soy milk...for instance, Rice Dream is not gluten free - it is processed with barley. I had my first gluten reaction to it two weeks ago (i just grabbed it and thought since it was rice it was okay). AmandaD -
Guys - I make sweet stuff from scratch now all the time - one of the best brownie recipes I've found is on this website - go to the recipes section - it's the chocolate traditional brownies, i think there's like cornstarch in them, eggs, etc. i add 1 tbsp. of potato flour to the recipe as well as a handful or two of nestle choc. chips and they just turn...

I thought I should just write a quick thank you to all of you out there on this board.
