ARCHIVED Gluten And Allergen Free Food Expo
GlutenStinks15 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Over the weekend there was a gluten and allergen free food expo at the Meadowlands in NJ. I found out about it by accident, and drove there and bought tix. It was $20 per person - not bad! SO MANY vendors were there! It was wonderful to be able to taste test everything! There were local vendors as well as the national ones. I couldn't believe how... -
ARCHIVED Does Lactose Produce The Same Symptoms As Gluten For Some?
GlutenStinks15 replied to answerseeker's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes! I thought I got glutened and by process of elimination realized I developed a dairy intolerance. Now I have small amounts of cheese with taking a lactaid pill first. Still too gunshy to have any gluten free pizza. (It's only been a few months since the intolerance started.) -

ARCHIVED Need Help Recovering From Full On Glutening
GlutenStinks15 replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Can you have Gatorade? I know it's gluten free - but I don't know if you can handle everything else that's in it, but that is the ONLY thing that works for me. The blue one - I think it's called blue freeze works the best - even dr's recommend that one - I don't know why! I hope you're finally on the mend! -
I have had nothing but good experiences at Outback. Their flourless brownie is awesome. I've never (knock on wood) had a reaction. I think they don't have the prices on the gluten free menu so that when the regular menu prices change, they don't have to reprint those menus also. At my location they take Celiac very seriously. Even the server comes...

ARCHIVED Dunkin Donuts In The Office Today :(
GlutenStinks15 replied to GlutenStinks15's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you both. I'm sure it will get easier with time. I was diagnosed at the end of March, so these things still tempt me a bit. I won't crack and eat one b/c I don't want to be sick, but it sure is tempting... -

ARCHIVED Dunkin Donuts In The Office Today :(
GlutenStinks15 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
OMG I really need strength today. Someone brought in donuts - they're less than 20 feet from me. I want one - but I know I can't have one. This is the first time since my diagnosis that something has been quite literally staring me in the face and beckoning. Sigh. How do you guys cope? -

ARCHIVED Perdue Gluten Free Chicken Tenders
GlutenStinks15 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So, I was in Pathmark the other day, and I saw a bag of Perdue Smart Choice Gluten Free Chicken Tenders in the frozen section. I decided to buy them and try them and WOW, they're really good! The breading is made out of rice flour, honey and a bit of brown sugar. I gave them to my 13 year old niece (who has Celiac also) and she loves them too. So... -

ARCHIVED Dairy Intolerance?
GlutenStinks15 replied to GlutenStinks15's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks. I gradually reintroduced everything I ate that day - one item at a time in this last few days, and it seems it's the dairy. Two days of the pain was enough for me to take a break. -

So, I started getting stomach pains this week after eating dairy. I got diagnosed with Celiac at the beginning of April. Is it possible I developed this intolerance now? How long should I wait before attempting anything dairy again? (I want to give it some time - the pains were BAD.) Since being diagnosed I haven't suffered any intolerances (until...
