ARCHIVED Salicylates, Amines And Gluten Intolerance?
seraphim replied to kbridges's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
From what I know the theory is it has a lot to do with leaky gut putting strain on the liver. Various things can cause salicylate problems (not sure about amines)...low thyroid or adrenals are a couple.. I'm in the process of figuring out my own possible sensitivity. My doctor is looking into the MTHFR gene defect because apparently it can affect the bodies... -
My doctor is giving me this gene test...from what I read it can affect the bodies ability to detox...detox what exactly i'm not sure but I may have a problem with salicylates and I did read chemical sensitivities can happen as a result of this. I don't know if I completely understand the whole thing yet only that they often give methyl b12....does this help...

b12 isn't something I was fretting about since I started getting meat into me again the past couple weeks but I need to have optimal levels before thyroid treatment which I may need so someone shared this with me in a thyroid group. I'm about to be tested for a "MTHFR" genetic defect which can affect what kind of b12 to take and involves detoxing the body...

It just says Elissa Leonard at the end that I can tell but I have cross referenced the info they give about homocysteine etc and it's all true. It's just a matter of a few extra blood tests like that along with serum b12 and a couple others.

Yeah I'm hoping sublingual will be fine. Also hoping because i think under the tongue may be less likely to cause a tummy ache than a pill to swallow too. Plus if i'm malabsorbing a pill may not be best. Yeah I was wondering about the b12 and swelling because I was getting swelling and hives for about 3 weeks and i hadn't been getting any b12 for a couple...

This was the video I saw...basically serum b12 alone is not always reliable. It would take forever for me to type out why but it's a very interesting video if you have time to watch it sometime. There are a few tests one should have with that.

Does lack of b12 cause swelling?
-
I was watching info about how serum b12 is usually not enough for diagnosing b12 deficiency. It was something i was going to look into but I was curious...has anyone had b12 shots? What was it like? What are they injecting into you exactly? I know vaccines use egg white? Kinda curious about this. Only if i have a severe deficiency mind you. Otherwise I'll...

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Healed Some Of Their Intolerances?
seraphim replied to Maryw88's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I was just watching a youtube video yesterday about how normal serum blood tests are not good enough to test for b12. I see my family doctor on wednesday to get bloodwork done...what should i ask for to make sure about my b12? -
ARCHIVED Who Has Had Success With Hydrocortisone?
seraphim posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm going to be retesting my saliva to see if I still have adrenal fatigue. I know I had it before but I didn't do anything about it once I got focused on gluten. I may need to supplement with cortisone cream in the future especially if I do end up having a thyroid issue. I was wondering if anyone here has had success in using replacement doses to heal your... -
That's what I was thinking. Thanks.

So I wasn't in great condition last week and seem like I'm making progress. Me and my husband were talking about getting away for a few days possibly next month. Now, normally I don't worry about using microwaves in hotel rooms but I saw a few posts on here before by people claiming they got glutened by a microwave or an oven...So I'm just checking...what...

Oh how I feel your pain. Hang in there. I have yet to find a doc who actually figured anything out. Always had to figure out on my own...causing them to sometimes essentially go...oh, oops down the road. -
ARCHIVED Leaky Gut, Intolerances And Allergies
seraphim replied to seraphim's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Oh I just found out I do have milk allergy through blood test. I cut dairy last September...tried reintroducing a small amount of butter about two months ago and a short time after eating it had pains. Next two days my bowel movements looked weird. I just thought it was intolerance and didn't keep eating it. -

Interesting. I wonder how long I've had a milk allergy now. It's a moderate level allergy apparently. -
ARCHIVED Can Too Much Fiber Cause Malabsorption?
seraphim replied to seraphim's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Lol Peter too funny. I was getting about 45-50 grams of fiber with loose bowels but no crazy gas anymore strangely. I've been feeling much better without them so maybe I'll go easy in the future with them instead. -
ARCHIVED Can Too Much Fiber Cause Malabsorption?
seraphim posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
About a month ago I realized for months I'd been having too much fiber due to a high intake of beans. Practically every meal. I was wondering if this can cause issues with nutrient absorption? I'm guessing yes since it makes food move too quickly through the intestinal tract? Every morning I woke up...ran to the washroom and had to go right away. Always loose... -

Do yourself a favor and get an endoscopy...blood test or even enterolab. THEN go gluten free and see how you feel. I was too chicken to endoscopy at the time. I regret that a year later. Did the diet help? Yes...but...it's nice to have a solid view of what you're dealing with...seriously. The tests could miss it but they might not. If it shows up negative... -

Sorry on my kindle I didn't even notice that. I thought you addressed it because of a couple threads I have regarding histamine etc. -

I also did enterolab but I know many of you don't accept that but it got rid of those symptoms I was having and my family doctor has celiac listed on their system. Biopsies and blood tests have been known to miss it as well. They can't always get to the area of the bowel most affected. I know I'm not glutening myself just for an "official" diagnosis. I felt... -
ARCHIVED For Those Who See Gastroenterologists
seraphim replied to seraphim's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Why do you think I think celiac is an allergy and when did I ever say it? I am gluten intolerant and felt better initially gluten free but a whole host of other things began about two or three months in. I've never been to a gastro but could have undiagnosed celiac. Had a history of "irritable bowel" since I was eight or nine that went away once gluten free... -
