  1. Thanks Ellie I know "diagnosis" would help but my own experience with our local docs mean that it would be a complete waste of time, finances and diagnosis (do they actually have a clue?) is way beyond my means at the moment. As much as it breaks my heart. Financially better to go gluten free..??.. I hate it but he is starting to consider it. So the only...
  2. I am sitting here tonight wishing my son would sleep . Hard enough that my DH is explosive at the moment but how hard can it be for a mum to have my boy home from school with the typical "allergy" rash around his mouth?? There has been many "mosquito bites" that I have thought were DH but I think the gluten lite diet is showing its effect. I am sad. Just...
  3. It took me a while to get to this place, but I'm with you mushroom. Not worth the fuss, not worth the consequences.
  4. Be glad it was only your scalp!!! And you have resolution to the problem. Sorry I can't help you with a replacement for your product but thought I should check with you that you have been through your other products - make up, cleaning, laundry, soaps etc. If you have an obvious problem on your scalp you might not want to develop a problem in the future...
  5. Hi lil'chefy, Are you currently or recently gluten free and if not can you describe your diet, how much gluten in particular? If I was a gambler I'd say that off dapsone and if still having a gluten full diet that it may just be a matter of time before it sets in. I think you should read as much as you can here and on other websites about DH and...

    ARCHIVED Dh & Make Up

Hi Casey, Welcome to the forum. I can't help with your question because I haven't worn makeup since my teens - about 20 years - but am looking forward to others responses!! I guess my aversion to makeup was related to my dislike of bread, pasta, cake etc... Be nice to think I could use some after all this time. Di
  7. Hi squirmingitch, This afternoon a blister formed on the back of each leg behind the knee. I'm so weary. When will it end? It will end for you!! Just keep getting on here for reassurance whenever you need. For me to get any real improvement I have learnt to mistrust any food I don't see prepared or prepared myself. Against my introverted nature...
  8. WICKED yes but.. before I knew about the iodine connection I happened to have scrambled eggs. Nothing else but egg and water and my skin went nuts. It was a wicked self-experiment that I didn't even know I was undertaking. It wasn't till that day that I was truly 100% convinced it was DH and not acidic little microscopic bugs crawling around on and under...
  9. I'll be thinking of you Marilyn. Wish you luck !! (and next time skip the ham )
  10. I'll second takala's advice. I've had to remove all products (except one toothpaste that I have that doesn't have xanthan gum etc..) and use similar to what Takala has suggested. I keep a cup bicarb soda in the shower and one next the sink.
  11. Can't thank you "oldtimers" enough, ravenwoodglass. Doesn't matter what condition you are in you are always here to help. This has certainly been my place of sanity and you all know SO much!! I hope I stick around too because I wonder how many people are out there in the wilderness and really need to find this forum.
  12. It could the gluten + hot shower + bathroom products so I'd keep them out for a few days to see how things go the next few days. You might want to cut down on iodine (egg yolk, seafood, seasalt, anything salty like chips etc) to see if that helps too. It could be something else though? Let us know how it develops or otherwise.
  13. and seemingly so few DH diagnosed members on this forum?
  14. I just started to wonder tonight about how much we DH sufferers spend cruising this forum. May be just my imagination but are we really the crazy forum members? Is it really so long to get it out of our system (skin) that we seem to be around, and so regularly, that we appear so regularly and longer term? To be honest I thought back in June that I'd be temporary...
  15. I am low income but fortunately I live in a rural area so don't have "neighbours" nearby. For a long time my internet connection was only connected when it was a "bonus" for me and my 9y/o son. For the past 6 months it has been my sanity. If it wasn't for this forum and being able to read/research my conditions I believe my mental state/sanity would have...
  16. Are you seriously gluten free? If so how long? If not what is your diet like? Obviously you have something very serious going on and it is time you demand some action and if your docs won't play the game, then you need to pay all that money to someone who is willing/able to help. Research (post on here for example) for specialist that are sensitive and...
  17. Back in May/June when I was ignorant of my gluten problem and working in a bakery I had a terrible time with what I would now call DH in my nostrils. It tends to be another moist/wet area so it is pretty horrible. It took weeks to clear those lesions in my nostrils but they did fortunately clear soon after my (mistake-riddled) weeks of gluten free. It was...
  18. bartfull, If only we could hear you play!! You'll have to youtube it !
  19. I think she should go gluten free at least to see if it helps   Maybe she never really liked him ??!!
  20. Open Original Shared Link Try having a read through these. It might help you make sense of the lingo. I'm no guru ((someone please confirm or advise?)) but it seems to me that "marked villious atrophy" doesn't mean nil or mild villious atrophy ie you have "marked" damage to your villi therefore you have Celiac.
  21. They could be anywhere on his body -legs, thighs, back/torso, face, scalp, hands/arms etc. Does he often need a back scratch?
  22. Me too Though thankfully for me it wasn't as bad as other areas. Check all your bathroom and laundry. etc etc etc. It is worth the effort. If it continues you might want to "test" xanthan gum. It seems to be rare in DH sufferers however for me, in food and bathroom products, it makes my skin as bad as anything else. Have you got your iodine...
  23. Beer and bread all day could blow out ALL your symptoms and that is plain dangerous. Ditto on ciamarie's advice about the iodine. Eggs(yolk) are a nightmare for me so better for you have a 6 egg omelette with salmon and see how that goes.
  24. If people in Hollywood stop eating gluten for good reason then good on them - it will probably make them feel good/better. If they do it to get or stay at size 0 then there is little our opinions or experiences can do for them. I consider myself lucky that I worked at a bakery for 9 months. Sick and DH head to toe I became unemployed - so diagnosis is plain...
  25. Hi Emily - I just reread your post .. This post is actually for our other forum members that are so much better with these technical/testing issues than I am: I might have some of the logic wrong so anyone please correct me if I'm wrong: On Gluten + blood testing = very positive On gluten + biopsy = negative = could be negative or false negative...
