  1. How bout I give yall the recipe? Taco Seasoning (3 Tbsp. = 1 packet of taco seasoning): 1 Tablespoon Chili Powder ½ teaspoon garlic powder ½ teaspoon onion powder 1/8 teaspoon red pepper 1 teaspoon dried oregano ½ teaspoon paprika 1 ½ teaspoons ground cumin ½ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon black pepper Directions for taco meat: Brown 1 lb. ground beef ...
  2. Next time you go there just tell them, hey I was looking online and I noticed you don't have this listed on my chart, and have them correct it. I do, however, always have places list gluten as an allergy as well, because that entry (particularly in hospitals and pharmacy settings) is one of the most prominent things visible to the healthcare professional...
  3. I had an epiphany when going to get my big bowl out from my cabinet, I used my cake carrier. It snaps near air tight, and it worked great. I was able to shake it and get everything blended easily. My gifts are going to turn out great
  4. A few weeks back I was watching a newscast on a TV that had closed captioning turned on. They mentioned celiac disease and on the closed captioning, -I swear to god I am not making this up-... said Silly Yak disease. I was in tears I was laughing so hard. I wish I could have gotten a screen grab of that. What makes it even more funny to me is that my...
  5. Colleen I know how you feel. I, too, am tired of heavy food. Like you look at something that is delicious but all you can think is "Ugh!" LOL... Last night I forgot to thaw out meat so I made grilled ham and cheese sandwiches on Udis white bread with american singles and ham lunchmeat. My gluten eater husband will eat grilled sandwiches on gluten-free...
  6. I am making taco spice mix in little jars this year for Christmas gifts. I'm about to go to sams club and get my spices. I am trying to come up with the least messy way to mix all of this together, 12 cups total. I was thinking about getting one of those giant ziploc bags, but where do I get those? Maybe if I am forced to use a whisk and a big bowl...
  7. I double checked what I had read before about Dailys, and their website currently states all their products are gluten free. On the rare occasion I drink alcohol, I really like their strawberry frozen drink thingy. Anyways, maybe it was a combination of all the heavy food that gave you a little tummy trouble? Especially around a holiday people tend...
  8. I also use the suave daily clarifying shampoo, after a few weeks I will get greasy buildup at the roots that my regular shampoo doesn't take out well. Thanks for sharing the products you use with us!
  9. I would say it is certainly worth it writing the companies about the ingredients. May save you quite a bit of cash long term to be able to buy the store brand. Be sure to share on here what you hear back from them!
  10. MSG, even though similar sounding, does not contain gluten in the US. Now, I think it can be made from any grain source, so it is possible that the manufacturer of the one you consumed could have made it from wheat. If you are able to get the information from where you ate the steak, ask them what brand of MSG they use, then contact the manufacturer to...
  11. Thanks, Irish That gave me a big smile first thing this morning as I have my chebe rolls in the oven! *drool* And GFlover, your injury list sounds like every day in my kitchen, I am such a huge klutz! LOL Today: Turkey, ham, crock pot dressing, giblet gravy, fruit salad, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, chebe cheesy...
  12. I am pre cooking some stuff for tomorrow so its microwaved leftovers until tomorrow, then Turkey and all the good sides. All gluten-free.
  13. I sampled something at the gluten-free expo recently, was cheesecakey and although the chocolate one I sampled had been ruined with mint, the other ones were good. They said they sell them at costco... I am boggling my mind right now trying to remember what they were called... Also, glutenfreeda has little individual cheesecakes now. I think they are...
  14. Yep and without me, my husband would eat much fewer vegetables. He knows about...most... of them. LOL
  15. I have discovered one of the best cures for boredom while I can't work is cooking things and spending time in the kitchen. Promoting stereotypes, haha. And no one has messaged me about the coupons yet, I just had all those and was about to toss them but I was like, there has to be $50 here and some family could use them. Feel free to send someone my...
  16. Yesterday: I made homemade mac n cheese, and put cooked cubed chicken, carrots, and broccoli in the sauce with the noodles so it was like a one pot meal. Today: Nachos with refried beans, taco meat, cheese, salsa, and guac Tomorrow: Grilled chicken with carrots and potatoes au gratin
  17. I would do that, too. I think you may need to stop asking for permission and either don't go, or just stop caring about what they think and bring your own food and do your own thing. You don't need permission to eat food free of your allergen.
  18. If you want a bunch of coupons (only doing 1 lot Im not going to peice this out) that I won't be able to use before they expire, please PM me and I will snail mail them to you. At least 8 enjoy life, crunchmaster, rudis, and a lot of brands I can't get at my local supermarket.

  19. Any baked good can be individually wrapped in those treat bags, so can snacks. Food you can do little portions in muffin cups and saran wrap them. People will think it is cute, and you will have a safe barrier around stuff.
  20. I have had a few gluten free processed items and mixes that give a vague metallic aftertaste to me. If it is that pizza, and that pizza only that causes the metallic taste and it goes away, I would say maybe it is just full of weird ingredients that don't add up to a proper flavor profile. If the metallic taste came and stayed, I would say it may not have...
  21. So I was on vacation last week in a strange town at a restaurant that was celiac friendly, the waitress had totally impressed me so far with her gluten-free knowledge until I asked her if they have a dedicated fryer for their french fries. She hesitated and then told me "Well usually each night it is the same person all night at the fry station but sometimes...
  22. w8in I feel your pain. Juggling multiple health conditions, one is always out of control, multiple doctors, any new doctor takes ages to get into, juggling appointments... feeling poorly... You are totally entitled to, and are going to have, crappy emotional days. I just really try to be grateful for the things I CAN do. For a while when I first came...
  23. My local grocery store, HEB, has their private label acetaminophen marked gluten-free. A lot of things they have are similar looking to walgreens house brand stuff so they might use the same manufacturer, at least on a few things. Worth a look.
  24. In my findings of "companies that don't take truly gluten free seriously" any time I see something prominently labeled vegan, I always double check the company and how gluten free it actually is. Just seems they tend to fall into the crazy health nut bucket a lot of the time. Of course, not all are like that, but look for the certified gluten-free symbol...
  25. I read the Amount Of Gluten In Single, Small Bread Crumb? headline and immediately yelled at my computer, "Too much!" LOL.
