  1. I agree with you that it certainly points to the construction work. Especially with it being an older building, they can be kicking up all kinds of particulates that irritate the skin and respiratory tract, and things like insulation and such can create little stabby fibers which can be especially bad for the skin. I feel for you because I, too, am...
  2. I got like 60 done at once on my back recently. It really is not that bad. The scratch is with a scratchy plastic knob thing, so it is just mildly unpleasant. If you react, it will itch, but that wasn't too bad either. When they finished up mine they put hydrocortisone cream on it which was nice. The worst part for me was laying on my stomach for 15...
  3. Paul that is so funny! My parents had a little miniature dachshund who loved human food. One day my mom cut herself a big slice of chocolate cake, sat down on the couch with it on a napkin and went to take a bite, before it got to her mouth the dog did a superhero move and swiped the whole piece of cake from her. So if you eat near that dog you have to...
  4. My cat, her name is Kitty: Open Original Shared Link She likes bags, boxes, fresh laundry, and Q tips: Open Original Shared Link (I miss wing stop!!!! haha) Here is a funny picture for you all, one day I was carrying in groceries from the car and I hear a "Shhhhhhhhhhhh" and this trail was through my whole living room. I cried, LOL...
  5. Yesterday: Breakfast for dinner- Hash Browns, Scrambled eggs with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese, bacon, and OJ. Today: Homemade hamburgers on the george foreman grill, with Local Oven buns and baked beans for the side. Tomorrow: Conte's gluten-free spinach gnocchi with garlicky tomato sauce and romano. With steamed green beans.
  6. I like to steam veggies in the microwave, in a glass pyrex dish with lid. Just put in a few tablespoons of water, and microwave til done. They used to sell steamer baskets you could put in them, but I can't find them anymore.
  7. Oooohhh snickerdoodles... my favorite grocer just changed up their gluten-free section, I will have to see if these are there when I shop on Friday. If they are, I will try them out and report back! I really like their soft chocolate brownie cookies, but I try not to buy them as I destroy them in a few sittings.
  8. I have seen this problem as well. Or it will be the opposite, like your store carries 2 out of 30 products by a brand, and the website tells you they carry the full line, etc. Especially with smaller companies, having a good locator function on the website can increase sales.
  9. My day was complete when we arrived at the zoo at 3pm after a late start to the day, and we saw a sign that said "Brief appearance by the baby elephants at these times... last at 3:30" So we waited with the crowd, they brought one out but they never said who it was, haha. Being two months old it/he/she looked about the same as the pictures but was a little...
  10. Thank you Tyria! I am going to have to print this out and take this with me.
  11. I am going to see her and the other baby elephant tomorrow! Maybe I can get a picture. I am going to squee with excitement the whole time I am there.
  12. They use local oven hamburger buns, and being from the local area, when I discovered them I bought some. The BEST gluten-free hamburger and hotdog buns, by far. They come individually wrapped in a sealed plastic pouch so you can take out just what you need, and let it thaw out on the counter. They are soft and moist, and the texture is the closest to gluteny...
  13. Adalaide, I'm sure it would be very simple to make your own bacon alfredo, even with a pre-made sauce, because of the fat content. I would just cook some chopped up bacon in a pan, drain out most of the grease, and add the alfredo sauce and simmer it a bit. It would probably be even better than the jarred version because you can go overboard on the bacon...
  14. I used to get this for a relative who had pill swallowing issues, the Walgreens brand liquid multivitamin. On the website it says no gluten, but is only available in stores. At the recommended dose of 15mL (3 tsp) a day, it will last 16 days. Open Original Shared Link He had problems with gagging on things if they tasted bad so I assume this wasn't...
  15. I have had acid reflux problems since I was a teenager, I take nexium, and will probably always have to, but I have been able to figure out what triggers my reflux. Fatty foods are the worst for me, then acidic foods. Mexican food & italian food I have to be careful on the quantity I eat. Spiciness doesn't seem to bother me but anything spicy +fatty...
  16. Thanks for the heads up, I think a lot of us get comfortable in what we buy and don't -always- read the label like we should.
  17. I regularly use the pacific naturals cream of mushroom and chicken soups, I am not on a sodium restricted diet but before I went gluten-free I bought low sodium everything, especially soups. I wish there were a gluten-free, store-bought option! Some of that stuff is just SO salty, but the pacific cream soups aren't too bad, at least. I have considered...
  18. I looked for their seasoned mixes at my usual grocery store to no avail, just the plain rice. I do regularly make their quick-cooking brown and wild rice blend (orange package I think) using broth as the cooking liquid and adding herbs and garlic, makes a really nice quick side dish. It doesn't have the usual odd texture of quick cooking rice that I usually...
  19. Grilled chicken breasts with mashed potatoes and steamed fresh green beans. Tomorrow I may do breakfast for dinner- bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns. The best part of being a grown up is eating what you want, when you want! I never eat that kind of stuff for breakfast.
  20. I sought some out today, tried the bacon cheddar ones. They do taste like cheetos, which every once in a while I will crave and seek out, but I am able to get those in very small packages so I don't eat the whole thing. I agree with you Karen & nights that they are bad for you with all those ingredients. If these stay on the market I will probably buy...
  21. Usually they are in paper bags (not sealed just folded over at the top) already on a shelf by the cashier, I assume they make them at the beginning of the day and portion them out then. Now I am curious, I will have to ask next time I go.
  22. Hi Celeste, I saw this article on a blog post, and thought about the questions you were asking. I think this sums it up nicely, that celiac disease does not automatically equal a topical allergy. From the mayo clinic: Open Original Shared Link
  23. NV, I hope you have a great time! I am going to Disney land in November, we will be in Anaheim for 6 days for a convention, so if you have any good/bad experiences in that area I would be thrilled if you let me know. Since I will be in that area for a good while and not staying at Disney itself, I am definitely going to do an informative writeup to help...
  24. I do what plumbago does, but I keep a running document as a saved draft in my email account, the top half I have to send to people who want to meet up for a meal and I email it to them with options, neighborhoods, fast food/sit down etc. I have on there a short paragraph like "just because it says gluten-free doesn't mean it is safe, CC blah blah" The bottom...
  25. I Love Chipotle. Did before I went gluten-free and it is one of those places where if I am stuck away from the house, it becomes a beacon of hope against my starvation. Here is what I do: 1. Be super nice to the server. This is really hard when you have terrible anxiety but try your best. "Hi, I have an allergy to the flour tortillas so can you change...
