  1. Get rid of the simple starches and sugars in your diet and replace them with meat, veggies and low sugar fruits like berries. You'll not only be less hungry and take in fewer calories naturally, you'll probably get a lot healthier. Open Original Shared Link is a good resource.
  2. Lots of sugar substitutes out there, Splenda, Erytritol, stevia, etc.
  3. Wow, you need to talk to your doctor and mention the word narcolepsy. There is a connection between gluten intolerance and narcolepsy but still, you'd better explore this further.
  4. The first thing that popped into my head was, what was your husband doing while all this was going on? I mean, he's the one that laid down the ground work for the meal, I hope he was in there supporting you when you took the heat. If not... follow his lead. If he's taking responsibility for his dietary needs, and it sounds like he is, then he should be...
  5. Going gluten free doesn't have to be expensive. You can simply opt to not replace items with expensive gluten free ones. Simply eat meat, veggies, eggs, fruits, nuts and you'll not only be much healthier but you'll be avoiding gluten and sugar and refined carbohydrates that we really don't need.
  6. maltodextrin comes from corn in the US.
  7. Dr. Fine says double DQ4, which is only found in Asians, is about the only genetic sequence that seems free of gluten intolerance. But you'd have to have 2 copies of that gene, so probably pure bred Asians only. However, there are intolerances to all kinds of foods like dairy, even rice sometimes. Another possibility is that you're allergic to something...
  8. This site has some good information: Open Original Shared Link This cardiac doctor blogs about the importance of D3 and has specific recommendations on which sort to take in this posting: Open Original Shared Link
  9. I agree with you Vyktor. Just like people getting stung by bees sometimes have dangerous reactions, others have very mild reactions. But everyone reacts. Personally I think the same is true of gluten. Everyone reacts, some of us just more than others. If we were eating the diet we evolved to eat, the word wouldn't be in our vocabulary.

    ARCHIVED No More D

Dairy constipates the heck out of me.
  11. Google dysmennorhea and see if that doesn't answer your question.
  12. Have you been gluten-free awhile? Your antibody levels will go down after awhile.
  13. Whatever. As far as the paleo diet, there are plenty of high calorie options, I think I posted about your comment about eating 60 pounds of veggies them in the Paleo thread you posted in, so I won't repeat it here. Paleo != raw, people have been cooking for a long, long time. Probably at least 140,000 years, some have the estimate much longer than...
  14. There are other things that can cause joint pain in young people. Ankylosing Spondylitis is one. It is an autoimmune disease that causes mistakes in repairing cartiledge. It often starts in young people, probably early to late teens. I'd imagine other forms of autoimmune arthritis can arise too. Of course, it could be gluten related. But you might want...
  15. Watch Super Nanny, she deals with this all the time on her TV show. I think you could probably find some of her methods useful. You might try googling and see if she has an online site with tips. I did the leg work for you: Open Original Shared Link
  16. DQ 2 is one of the main genes for celiac disease, if I recall correctly and you have a double copy. You're definitely gluten sensitive and casein sensitive too. Give up dairy and gluten and see how you feel! Because you have two copies of the same gene you can bet your child also has the same gene.

    ARCHIVED Paleo Diet

You should focus on eating fattier and starchier foods that are paleo: Nuts, coconut, avocado, squashes, yams. You'll get plenty of lovely fattening starch and fat from them. And the starchier and sugary fruits too: Mangos, bananas, dates, figs, etc. Honey and agave syrup too. Nuts and nut butters and coconut are very dense in calories. You can use...
  18. I found the best thing was to take an evolutionary approach with diet. Eat foods similar to what people ate before the advent of agriculture. If you're interested, look into "paleo diet". Science Daily's agenda is reporting on new science. I don't think they've got a hidden agenda to sell you a book or supplements.
  19. Well, you should hope it is your only symptom. You don't want lymphoma or colon cancer to be the next symptom! Check out The Gluten File and read up on neurological symptoms, sounds like you might have that.
  20. Negative blood work means absolutely nothing. About 30% of celiacs have negative blood work if they don't have total villious atrophy. You're just lucky enough you didn't get to that stage before it was caught.

    ARCHIVED Paleo Diet

Paleo isn't as low carb as many diets are since you can eat fruit. Right now my apple trees are producing buckets of apples and I'm eating loads of them and I'm putting on pounds. You can eat things like dates, figs, berries, apples, lots of things with fairly high sugar content. Not to mention nuts... Oh, I ran into this article that folks might...

    ARCHIVED Casein Free

You want to look for anything containing "milk" in the ingredients list, it should be listed as "milk" because it is one of the 8 allergens. Other words are casein, caseinate, whey, lactose. That's all I can think of. Yeah, giving up dairy is harder. I decided to just completely change the way I eat when I gave up dairy. So I adopted the Paleo diet...
  23. Enterolab reports on dairy protein, not sugar. Lactaid won't help with the protein.
  24. Whoops, double post
