  1. I, too, only showed Marsh 1 and negative bloodwork. My dr called it seronegative celiac. I've been gluten-free for about 10 months and saw a huge improvement. Then felt worse than ever. I've found I am lactose intolerant, sensitive to corn and night shades, spicy, oily, or acidic foods wreak havoc for me and am now suspecting another food : / I'm also getting...
  2. I gave up on all beer once I was gluten-free. I do, however, love the hard ciders out there! They're naturally gluten-free and taste delicious! Don't be fooled by Redd's apple ale-it's a beer. I should have picked up on 'ale'. My favorite is Woodchuck pear cider. I also like Michelob's Light Cider when I want to watch my calories. Just another option to...
  3. Yes, it is possible to be seronegative (negative blood work) and have a positive biopsy. There are different combinations of ways people have been diagnosed. Many celiacs are IgA deficient, so if thats the case all IgA tests are invalid and you'll have to be tested on IgG tests. Whatever the tests show, you're probably definitely a celiac based on your biopsy...
  4. It was a faculty dinner, and as far as I know, no one else was sick. Thank you for your replies. This gluten-free journey sure has been a learning experience, and I'm sure will continue to be,. Case and point- no more Mexican food : /
  5. I've been gluten-free for almost 10 months now. When I get glutened, symptoms appear after 2 days, the 3rd day being the worst. Then I feel "off" for about a week. I was glutened about 2 weeks ago at a Mexican restaurant. I hardly had a reaction. Barely bloated, hardly noticed my symptoms. Is that normal? It was quite a bit of gluten as I didn't know the...
  6. I shared this today and had a great response from people who knew nothing of gluten or celiac disease. It helps people understand me more : ) Thanks for the article!
  7. This lifestyle is no fun, but gives us a better life! You have celiac, which makes it lifelong. I think it would be more severe than "just 10 years" off of your life. Exposing yourself to gluten could set off more AI diseases, osteoporosis, vitamin deficiencies, neurological defects, and CANCER! I think that would be more painful to live with. It wouldn't...
  8. I, too, have C. The symptoms did lessen for me, though not gone completely. I'd say give it more time. I agree about this site, I'd be a total wreck going through this celiac journey alone!
  9. Prayers to her and all involved! In the name of Jesus.. This was an eye opener as to the seriousness of this disease we're fighting.
  10. Lol!! I never read the whole box....just the front...Guess ill go read it!
  11. I've never heard of it. I'll try anything that works!
  12. Made my sushi finally and was quite impressed! I see what you meant by experimenting with the rice, I have a few adjustments to make. Again, thank you for the advice!
  13. I've always been on a probiotic and my body seems to get used to them after a while. I switch brands regularly. After being on philip's colon health for a while, I switched to culturelle. I've been having diarrhea with it, though it is marketed as helping with it. I don't usually get diarrhea unless I've eaten (unintentionally) a good bit of gluten, which...
  14. I'd ask for the full celiac panel. They're missing ttg-IgG and EMA, and the total serum IgA as you stated. My bloodwork came out negative, but I was diagnosed based on minimal damage on a biopsy, positive gene test, and positive reaction to a gluten-free diet. Currently, there aren't any tests to detect a sensitivity. If after all testing is done, celiac...
  15. Total day-turn around!!! I hear ya, but it smelled good!!! And I love a sweet, cheap moscato : ) ((I need those emoticons!))
  16. I so appreciated this post! I had a meltdown after making myself sick with corn, which was an unknown intolerance : / I'm so grateful for this forum and the great people with such encouraging words! I even sat and watched my family eat Taco Bell and KFC today and was feeling sorry for myself, as I ate nothing and just ran to the bathroom repeatedly. Glad...
  17. I just bought Nishiki, I'll let you know how it goes ! So glad I was helpful
  18. Thanks so much, kenlove!
  19. I guess he officially diagnosed me, but nothing 100% confirmed it. I'm seen as the drama queen in his office, so I'd rather not go back there and get vitamin levels checked. But I find myself in a strange position to ask for a vitamin level check because my dr said I'm celiac, though I have no definite dx. I'm thinking I'll talk to my GYN in July during my...
  20. Because my dr "strongly believes I have celiac though it didn't show up yet" -it isn't on any medical charts, so I have no follow up scheduled. Should I be concerned of vitamin levels? I'm only aware of low ferritin because I was seeking answers for hair loss prior to a celiac dx. Any concern or blow it off like my dr has? It's been a long battle here, where...
  21. Good to know! I'll be doing more research! Just wanted the gluten-free experts' opinions first
  22. Thanks for the advice! Guess I'll break down and buy the real crab legs. I'm wanting to make my favorite crab, shrimp, avocado, and mango rolls. I'd love to make a sauce similar to eel sauce. I love the sweet and savory contrast. I will be purchasing the mats and whatever else I need because sushi is my one true grievance since going gluten-free. Please...
  23. I just did a buccal swab through labcorp. Go to www.kimballgenetics.com to order. It was quick and easy. Only pit was that it was $395 for the test. I did not go through my insurance to order it, but you did have to have a dr sign saying they approve the test. Maybe your PCP instead of a GI can sign off? It was worth it for me. Good luck
  24. I'm dying for safe (cooked) sushi! The places around me are not accommodating, so as we all know, if you want something-you have to make it yourself! I'm having the hardest time trying to find crab sticks without wheat starch. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, what sauces have you made that are close to the real things? Thanks!!
