  1. Rusla, How do you react to other fried foods?? Bronco
  2. Whole Foods is pretty good about cross-contamination issues. I would feel as comfortable getting the Tuna Salad there (as long as it has its own labels) as I would eating out a restaurant (ok). On a side note, I do get chicken salad from my Von's deli here in Las Vegas, but I get it early in the morning (8:30 a.m.) right after they make it (and before...
  3. It intersting that you bring up fried foods. I mentioned this about the McDonalds Fiasco -- I know quite a few Celiacs that the only fried food they ever ate was French Fries and they often felt sick right afterwards. My repeated attempts to convince them that it may be Fried Foods in general (as it was 99% eliminated from their diet when they went gluten...
  4. If you are a recently diagnosed celiac or just starting the gluten-free diet, you need to stay away from restaurants for a few months -- those places will be pure poison for you and you need to give your intestines a chance to heal. Also, it seems like you could be soy intolerant as well, you will need to avoid that for awhile (if not forever...) Eat...

  13. FYI, I went to IHOP on Sunday. I asked the manager to come over and she worked out a meal for me. They used fresh eggs in a skillet and made a bacon omelette and a side of hash browns. Both items were cooked in clean pans and it was wonderful. Always get a manager over -- they have the power to help!!!!
  14. If it helps, We have a Celiac support group here in Las Vegas. You can email me for more info if you like. Our next meeting is Saturday April 22 at the New Whole Foods in Henderson (it opens April 5) Bronco
  15. Tiff, Do you know why stools tend to float after a night of cocktails and drinking? I always wondered that...drinks don't have "fat" in them, do they? (unless you count the calories turning into fat, right?)
  16. There are some foods that are naturally harder to digest than others. These foods can be particularly bothersome after being "glutenized". Eggs are definitely one of them (fruits and raw veggies are another). After being glutened, take it easy on her system -- Try rice, chicken soup, plain chicken, plenty of water and vitamins... It helps me when...
  17. I know Lea and Perrins Steak Sauce is gluten-free! Although I think A1 is a kraft product, it should state clearly on the label if there is any wheat or barley in it. Bronco
  18. I have been on Dapsone for 9 years. Started out around 100mg a day and now I am at 25 mg a day. If I stop taking them, the blister will return - they always do -- guess I am unlucky that way (I have been gluten-free for 9 years also)... It helps a lot though....the ony side effects are sensitive skin (to sunlight) and liver issues (but these only...
  19. Mama, There is a nurse practicioner in Vegas that has celiac disease -- she can do some of the simple blood tests. I can give you her contact info if you want. Bronco
