  1. Armetta, Thanks for the kind words! who knows? Maybe one day I will get to open my own gluten-free restaurant in every shopping mall in the country -- the entire menu will be gluten-free, but even the weirdo non-celiacs would love it... Gotta dream......and dream big!

  4. Deb, I lived in C-bus for 7 years... they have a good support group there called the "Gluten-Free Gang" -- they were pretty organized when I was there... If you ever need a good meal, go to the Columbus fish market and get one of the fresh fish or steaks (grilled). the mashed potatoes are gluten-free and ask them to give you some steamed spinach...
  5. Carla, ditto what Armela said... 1. Fix in the Bellagio is a good place (steak, lobster mashed potatoes, etc) 2. Samba in the Mirage -- Brazilian BBQ place - the chef knows about Celiac and one of the waitresses' mom has celiac disease. 3. Buffets are very dangerous -- cross contamination is rapant there -- but breakfast is do-able at those places...
  6. If you have a buffalo wild wings by you, you can buy some of their sauces (they do sell them in the bottle) I love the Spicy Garlic -- yum yum!!!

A wonderful lady by the name of Karen (she works at Whole Foods - Vegas) contacted the New Grist folks and they are getting the beer out here in a few weeks... I am thrilled!!!   10. Not all bleu cheeses are made with bread mediums -- some are made with separate mold mediums. Even if the bleu cheese is made with a bread medium, the chance of you getting "glutened" is pretty small... Ketel One Rocks w/ a lime or Stoli/Tonic I also like shots of "good" tequila -- El Tassorro or Tres Generaciones (no training wheels -- just the tequila) and Wine (all kinds) -- Right now I am on a "Oregon Pinot Noir Kick", but in the upcoming summer months I will inevitably revert back to my love for Sauvignon Blanc...
  18. Personally -- no But I do have a friend that went on the trip to Italy -- he said it was amazing -- they took care of all the meals -- nothing to worry about -- I think they are a little pricey, but that is the cost for a guaranteed Gluten Free Adventure -- maybe for me in a few years...

  20. Technically, that is incorrect. The new labeling laws do not require them to list them as no longer gluten free. Gluten free has not been defined by the FDA. Hence, I could fill a box full of flour and label it as gluten free and sell it... They DO HAVE to say if there is wheat in it though....

  25. I work out in the morning and drink an Ensure at Mid-day (+ 1 Granny Smith Apple) and my energy level is ok (until around 8 or so)
