  1. Monica-- I drink Boylan Cane Cola (there are other varities, too). It is sweetened with sugar only. I get it at Whole Foods.
  2. Spelt is definately a no-no for Celiacs!
  3. Hi Taz, Millet is a grain that is safe for Celiacs
  4. Mike-- I don't know why you joined the board and made this your first post. Please know that it has been reported--this is a place where people come for helpful opinions. Unless you have something supportive to contribute, or a legitamate question to ask--I would suggest you not post here.
  5. Gulp--Looks like you have 2 options: one, you say nothing and keep on fixing his machine. Two, look him in the eye and say something like "what you look at is your business, but going onto these um sites is what is causing your computer virus problems." (Don't tell him he's getting what he deserves) Then say something really technical.
  6. Yea--one side of our house gets neon green, too! We bought a pressure washer a couple years ago, and it's already paid for itself. We do the house, deck and even the "green" side of our next door neighbor's house It's especailly good on the windows/screens.
  7. I've never tried it, but there is Windsor Pilates--you do the excercises on the floor.
  8. Hi As mentioned by Andrea, the problem with non stick pans is that gluten can get lodged in the scratches, and transfer to the food you're cooking. Wooden utensils and cutting boards once used for gluten containing foods, you really need to replace. This goes for your collander, too. In both cases, it's impossible to get all of the gluten out...
  9. Hi LaaLaa1, welcome to the board You are correct in that eating large amounts of gluten can be a trigger for Celiac Disease. At this point, I would persue the testing--you've been eating tons of gluten for a long time, so the results should be clear. Keep eating your normal diet until the testing is completed--don't be tempted to go gluten-free...
  10. Hi Sketch, I just wanted to welcome you and remind you not to go gluten-free or even "gluten lite" until your testing is completed. Doing so will skew the results. Good luck with everything--I agree with everyone above about your symptoms. Let us know how you do
  11. Hi Lawstudent, and welcome! It's a shame that you did everything right--and the doctor still didn't listen or even take the time to consider something other than IBS, which we all know is just shorthand for 'he has no idea'. At this point, I would think they'd want to do a full work up, that would include the Celiac Panel. I hope that your GP...
  12. Hi, I'm sensitive to corn, but was not allergic according to skin testing. I get reactions from corn syrup every bit as bad as from the other froms of corn. It truly is in almost everything processed.
  13. Danielle, Thamks for the update! I'm so happy that the boys will remain with you and your parents Sorry about their mom--she's your cousin, right? Hope her injuries aren't very serious, and that she'll be able to come home. Keep us posted!
  14. You're very sweet Now, I hope that you are going to take care of you! Make sure that you get enough good "fuel" and maybe a little less of what you don't need You know that we'll all be here for you Lisa, and feel free to PM or email me anytime!
  15. Rachel--I have an idea, though it'll cost ya--you could have it power washed. Maybe a company that does houses would give you a special rate to come and do just your doorway. We have a power washer, and that's how my husband got it clean to begin with--the stuff is too sticky to use a regular hose.
  16. Lisa, I think you're amazing--and very brave! You are so right, it's not always about the Celiac....I'd been nauseous for several days, on and off all day. Yesterday, I went to the doctor suspecting an eye infection. It was an infection, and it turns out, the nausea was from that. Since I began the antibiotic drops, the eye is already better, and...
  17. I'm jealous of you west coasters being able to get together
  18. Thanks for that, Judy
  19. I gotta try that with almond butter--wish I could still eat peanut butter
  20. Lately, I've been Racheling Nestle's chocolate chips--right out of the bag
  21. OMG--Nini, thank you so much for saying that! I've been "stewing" a bit myself lately about all of this. All of these points have to be taken *in context*. By the time people find us here, they have already, in most cases, been through the mill--misdiagnosis, disbelieving relatives, sick kids, etc. This is a support group board--people shouldn't...
  22. Your symptoms could point to a lot of things. If you suspect Celiac, ask your doctor to run the Complete Celiac Blood Panel. Another possibility is food intolerance--that wouldn't show up on an allergy test.
  23. I have a Pilates machine with a cardio rebounder attachment (kind of like a vertical trampoline). It allows me to get my heart rate up while lying down--no stress on my knees or ankles.
  24. When I wear my hair curly, I like Dove Anti Frizz Creme. The curls stay soft, not "crunchy"
  25. Rachel, Yes, this would be an excellent time to clear away the nest and all of the mess tht you're gonna find along with it. Last year, we did this in the fall and ended up having to actually repaint the trim around the doorway. It's white, and was a litttle stained in places. After it's clean, you will probably want to do something up there so...
