  1. Jen--Do you wash, spin and then store your salad right in the salad spinner? I used bagged lettuce, but have been re-thinking that lately. I just hate wet lettuce Your method sounds great!
  2. Yes, we actually do have some gay folks on the board. Hopefully, they will see this and get back to you
  3. You too, Andrea? Hope you feel better soon! I'm actually going to the doctor this afternoon--I'm pretty sure I have an eye infection. It's been going on since last week, and I've been feeling a little nauseous and icky. I was hoping it would clear up on it's own...
  4. Aw Donna, sorry about all of the things that are happening right now I'm hoping that at least the physical pain will subside soon--and also that the work related situation will work itself out to where you'll feel comfortable with the new routine.
  5. I never had any noticeable problems with legumes either, before going gluten-free--and I used to eat a lot of them.
  6. Ev--I'm sending good vibes and wishes! Good luck--let us know
  7. Yep--tissues! I *never* go out without them in my purse. Saved my butt more than once. Sorry, couldn't resist
  8. Wow--Kristi's hair sounds beautiful! I wish mine would grow that fast
  9. eKatherine, That's great news about your friend! I'm so glad he took your words to heart
  10. So, the chicken was not a good idea after all.... "Loo roll" sounds nicer, somehow than "toilet paper" But sorry it wasn't there when you needed it--that's adding insult to injury! Hope you're better today
  11. Lisa-- Definately take in your list of Chron's symptoms, and jot down anything else you can think of that might give the doctor a clue as to what is wrong. Your new picture is cute! Good luck on Tuesday
  12. I use McCormick spices. When I spoke to them on the phone, they told me that any ingredients would be clearly listed on the label. Their Pure Vanilla Extract is gluten-free, also
  13. I'm 5'3''
  14. I actually thought of you--no eggs!--so it would be safe for Tim
  15. Angie--I think I'm gonna get a large size muffin tin. I'm thinking, after what you said, that those would be easier to deal with, and a better size also.
  16. Look at it this way, Lynne--she's very fortunate that her biggest problem is that she thinks your trash cans were on her property. People like this have no idea what it is to have a real crisis to deal with--so they go out and try and create one. What a loser
  17. My pleasure
  18. Hi!--A typical day for me might look like this (keep in mind that I have many additional food intolerances) Breakfast--Sliced banana with blueberries and slivered almonds. Bacon cooked in microwave to get rid of most of the fat. Spring water. Lunch--Large salad with olive oil and apple cider vinegar. Grilled lean hamburger (no bun) or piece of...
  19. This is from "The Gluten-Free Kitchen" by Roben Ryberg--I highly recommend this book!! PIZZA CRUST 1 packet yeast (1 tbsp.) 3/4 cup milk at room temperature (I used Vance's Dari Free) 1/2 cup potato starch 3/4 cup cornstarch (I used all potato starch) 1 tbsp. xanthan gum 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 cup shortening...
  20. This is a community, and like in any group, there will be disagreements from time to time. People's feelings will get hurt, and words will be misunderstood. It's been my experience here that in the vast majority of cases, these things work themselves out. This is one of the most caring, sensitive, funny, smart and loyal groups of people that I've ever...
  21. Her account was accidently deleated.
  22. I am so excited, I couldn't wait to tell everyone--I made Roben Ryberg's pizza crust, topped it with Muir Glen Tomato Sauce, Hormel Pepperonni, sliced black olives and grated Pecorino Romano cheese (sheep's milk). I swear, I haven't had pizza in at least a year and a half, and this crust looked so easy to make I thought what the heck! I used only potato...
  23. I use that expression myself
  24. Angie--Thanks, I'm going to try the mini loaves. With the recipes that use potato starch, she says not to use a bread machine--they are great for rice or other grain based breads, but too strong for the recipes that call for starch. It's always one thing or another! When I made the banana muffins last weekend, I used the banana bread recipe, and baked...
  25. It's like learning to bake all over again Since I'm also intolerant to grains, I was happy to find the cookbook "The Gluten Free Kitchen" by Roben Ryberg. It's a great book--lots of simple, straightforward recipes. The problem I'm having with the breads is that I'm following the recipes to the letter but they have a layer of thick moistness (can...
