  1. The only one to get tested in my family is my mother. She had the blood test, but the doctor only ordered one test! (not the entire panel, for some reason) It was neg. and she's going with it! I should add here that we live in different states, but I printed out the Celiac Blood Panel and the NIH Confrence on Celiac for her to take to her doctor...
  2. I play it safe and use only gluten-free personal care products. Shampoo and conditioner can very easily get into your mouth while you're rinsing it off. Early on, before I knew better, I was using a hair gel that contained wheat starch. I was getting sick every afternoon--I had the stuff all over my hands, rinsed it off, but there was evidently enough...
  3. Hi everyone! I love reading this thread--you all are so talented, and I get so many good tips! I've been wondering about something for the past couple of winters, and I just now thought--why not put this to the "home-canning" ladies. I have window boxes on the front windows of my house--the house is pretty plain from the outside--kind of boxy...

  5. Hi Celina Go to "My Controls" at the top of your screen Scroll down the left side, and click on"Edit Avatar Settings" Click on "browse" to choose and upload your own picture. (This can take several tries! Make sure the photo is cropped small enough to be accepted.)
  6. Hi again Noelle Food intolerance is a pretty individual thing. If you are fine with a particular food, then eat it. It's not necessary to cut out a whole catagory of foods (for example, lectins), if you only react to a few. As for whether or not you will feel better by eliminating a whole group, the only way to know for sure is to give it a...
  7. Great idea, Mia! Now "Dave" will go on the list of "Rachelisms"--right after "spinached"
  8. Hi Noelle, I was given a recipe for wheat-free chocolate chip cookies that used a lot of sugar. I tweaked it so that it only uses 1/2 cup. This is the one I came up with--if you would like the original also, I will find it and get it to you. Patti's Grain Free Chocolate Chip Cookies 1/2 cup Spectrum Organic Shortening (or regular shortening...
  9. Vincent-- Don't feel bad, you're not alone! I had 14 pages to read this morning. Good thing I had to get up early to wait for the Verizon repairman. I may have to give up sleeping Best of luck tomorrow morning with your heart testing. I will say a prayer for you tonight. Let us know...
  10. Yep Rachel, it was a pretty busy day here! I believe there's a country in Europe that offers gluten-free Big Macs. Can't remember which one, though. Finland, maybe?
  11. I think we should say it at the same time--spooky ! Mia--I hope tomorrow will be a better day for you! You're so sweet
  12. The red letters look very nice, Celia! OMG--mine are red, too!!
  13. Simply wonderful! What a joyful occasion Tim's birthday will be this year
  14. I love drama! Oh, every other Monday is better than every day, but still--ouch Uh oh--you're still calling him "Mister" I was thinking about what Mark could do. He's an Operations Manager, so I don't know. His hobbies are old cars and toy truck collecting. Help me here...I really can't live there without him--I mean we're married and everything...
  15. Hi Celia--I've missed you today! Wondered if you were ok Sorry about your arm Can't believe you have to go through that every day. Yep--I think "Good Googly Moogly" is the new "Have a Nice Day" or "Don't Have A Cow"--it will sweep the country! Celebrities will be using the term on the late night talk shows! No one will know where it came...
  16. Ryan-- My husband isn't in the military. He just got transferred a lot with his job! The year I told you about was the longest separation, but there were other times while our boys were young that he had to move on ahead of us. When my oldest was in 2nd grade, we had just bought a home in South Jersey, got settled in and they asked him to take a position...
  17. Julie--I've not checked on the Redi Tabs as I've not ever used them. I was talking about the regular Claritin pills. Maybe the Redi Tabs are better? Would the citric acid=corn? I'm so confused I hate to hear such things about chocolate Dumb histamine
  18. Unfortunately, I don't eat peanut butter anymore All legumes bother me, so I avoid them. Good luck with everything, and keep in touch!
  19. I've been summoned for jury duty 3 times in the 10 years that I've lived here! All before I was diagnosed--but that last time, especially, I wasn't feeling very well. (The 3rd time was within 3 years of the 2nd time, so I didn't have to go) I always packed my lunch and left it in the car. I went out on the break, listened to the radio and ate in...
  20. I don't know for sure, but I would think it could. The unfortunate thing is that Claritin has both milk and corn ingredients. I've stopped it along with my milky vitamins! I did a search yesterday to try and find an antihistimine that used potato starch. No luck--
  21. In my previous answer to you, I almost wrote "I can't eat rice, either" I'm actually intolerant to those foods. I eat meats, poultry, veggies (except legumes), a few fruits, potatoes, almonds, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, dark chocolate, tea, and spring water. For a thickener, potato starch. For milk (in mashed potatoes, etc.), Vance's Dairy...
  22. Don't feel stupid! It is entirely possible that your cat could be gluten intolerant
  23. Glad to hear that Terry is comfortable. At least now he can get some good rest. Highlighting! I had forgotten about that, and really had a time adding my R'ville title a few days ago Just hold down the left side of the mouse over the line or part you want highlighted. Then add the size and color that you want. Sorry Donna--I didn't see that...
  24. Ooh--we used to love Harry's! (No Whole Foods back then!) We'd go most Sundays, after church
  25. Hi Will--welcome to the board What a nice Dad! I use Oscar Mayer Bacon--I either bake it in the oven on a cookie sheet, or, for a few slices, in the microwave. I'm sensitive to so many foods that I don't know about the sausages or pot stickers, but I'm sure someone will be on soon who does. Feel free to post anytime you have questions
