  1. Hi! A new post always goes to the last page of the forum until a moderator reads it and pins it in the appropriate forum. Try checking "View New Posts" to find your post until it's been pinned.
  2. Hi C--Just wanted to thank you for collecting and sharing all of those articles! Just got a chance to sit and read through all of them--very interesting
  3. Speaking of spelt--recently I was watching a cooking product show on QVC Ahem, anyway, the host made this statement when he was presenting a waffle maker--"if you're gluten intolerant, you could use spelt flour". I emailed him and very nicely explained about Celiac and gluten intolerance. I added that a person with a wheat *allergy* may be able to use...
  4. Today, I made the gluten-free Nestle Cookie recipe that Vincent found--they are very good! The texture is lighter, but they taste just like toll house cookies. I had all but given up finding a recipe that didn't call for a grain flour. This one is good.
  5. Hi Margie! Glad you found us It is obvious to me that you have Celiac. There are doctors who will diagnose it with positive blood work, and a positive response to the gluten-free diet. If you plan to go ahead with the testing, you need to stay on gluten right up until the test. Dr. Green, in his book, states that a positive biopsy for dh is a positive...
  6. Johnson's Softlotion Creamy Moisturizing Oil is gluten-free. I verified that by phone.
  7. Thanks for sharing that, Richard. What a gift, your Grace
  8. Hi Terps--I think in the case of a toaster oven, it is fine to clean it out as you did and use it. I would also use foil under your food to be extra safe.
  9. I know what you mean--we have a Cusinart toaster. When I was first diagnosed, I went to Wal Mart and bought an $11 toaster for myself--the others use the Cusinart. Actually, in my case, I'm glad it was only $11 because I found I can't tolerate grains, so there's not anything to toast anymore. To answer your question, I don't know of any way to successfully...
  10. No allergy to almonds--this was most definately a gluten reaction
  11. Well, I never would have seen it if you hadn't posted it so you're stuck with the credit
  12. Well, I have an update. They sent me packaging, and a label and I returned the product to a lab in Nebraska. I got a call--the woman from Whole Foods told me that they test to 100 parts per million, and that there was no gluten detected. So that's that. I'm not really sure how sensitive that is--I will still be cautious about their products, though.
  13. Great tip, Jen! We have an extra fridge/freezer in the basement--I can do the same thing
  14. Mine did, too. I posted this in a thread about Proactiv not long ago. I thought the reason was because I was approaching menopause--but it could be the diet.....
  15. Hey Vincent--Thanks!!!! That cookie recipe has no grain--just potato starch. Perfect for me
  16. I had both done, too. The doctor wanted to rule out other things like Chron's and microscopic colitis. It was really not that bad--the prep the day before is the worst part. I was asleep for the whole thing and woke up feeling fine. Not at all as bad as I thought it was going to be! Not to worry
  17. A wheat allergy shouldn't have anything to do with an elimination diet. Find an allergist who will guide you through one. You may have to make many phone calls, but they are out there! My allergist has food intolerances himself. But in my search for him, I did come across allergists who did not deal in food issues at all--you need to ask.
  18. All of the M&M's are gluten-free--except the crispy ones!
  19. Kim--I remember you posting that! I made a note of it, and when I finish what I have, I'm switching over--it's so much less expensive! Thanks for checking
  20. I was a weight gaining Celiac, too. Except for the period right before I was diagnosed (when I was the sickest ever) when I lost 15 lbs--I have always and still do have to watch my weight. After I went gluten-free, I immediately, in 2 months, gained back all of the weight I lost. I am also sensitive to dairy foods, and have found that cutting dairy out...
  21. Clatitan is gluten-free. I take it. Some of the formulations are not dairy free--but all are gluten-free.
  22. Hi Simon--welcome to the board! Everyone's reactions vary, but I began to feel less fatigue after about 4 months gluten-free. But, after almost a year, I still get tired easily, and of course more so when glutened or when I eat something I'm intolerant to. I also get the skin itching--no rash--just itchy skin. In addition to being gluten-free, I switched...
  23. Vlasic Pickles are gluten-free.
  24. Yes, all varities of Ajax dish detergent are gluten-free.
  25. Bev--I was thinking about you today! Good to hear that all went well
