  1. Never seen or heard of a thing. Trying to make one would be a pretty big pain, since the amount of gluten can vary if ingredients vary at all.
  2. Peanuts aren't a germ, but would she let a crumb of peanuts go onto the food of someone with an anaphylactic peanut allergy? Not if she's smart. This isn't about *infecting* you; this is about chemistry. It is the presence of the necessary molecules that causes a chemical reaction to happen. It's not necessary to have a *lot* of reagent in order for...
  3. I make a gluten-free vegan lasagna using Tinkyada's lasagna noodles, and avocado instead of ricotta(but just one layer). And, of course, no cheese on the top. Everyone loves it! (Haven't tried freezing it, myself.) I usually have layers involving spinach and mushrooms, zucchini, and sweet peppers. A vegan stew is easy to prepare and a good "generalized...
  4. I would suggest telling the dr's - after you do these things - what symptoms remain, and if it's "they're worse", say that. Bring them in for a visual inspection if you feel your doctors don't "get it". And, consider switching doctors if you think they're really just dismissing you. There may be a case of misunderstanding, no matter how hard you are trying...
  5. Awww, thanks guys! I'm a whopping 31 this year! Last year without kids too. Very weird.
  6. Definitely a vaccine reaction. (I had a similar reaction, though not lasting as long, from the pneumovax. Only, it's a fairly well known reaction with the pneumovax.) Absolutely, tell the doctor - any type of significant reaction (something other than "I feel a little more tired" that shows the immune system is doing it's job) is worth at least *calling...
  7. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  8. I've had no problem with them, though I'm not as sensitive as some of the really sensitive around here.
  9. It could also help with calming the overactivity in the immune system and supporting a healthy digestive system, but again, that would not *cure* celiac. Acupuncture isn't going to change your genetics, or the rules of chemistry. I use it for fibromyalgia, restless leg, migraines, and to support my pregnancy - to good effect so far. If I had been glutened...
  10. I didn't have the problem, but from what I understand, most doctors are going to want to give your body at least 6 months to figure out that it needs to be ovulating again. At the same time, I would probably be wondering why my hormones continued to be wacky too. If you want to see someone on the issue now, I would suggest looking for either a certified...
  11. you might try spending a little time at the bookstore or library and look for recipe books. not recipe books that have these gorgeous pictures of yummy food, but ones that have simple recipes that look easy for you to cook. stew, for instance, is easy to cook (if you make a simple recipe ). some soups are also easy to cook, some are a pain in the butt...
  12. Do you tend to slouch to the side at the computer, or in the car, or on the couch? Do you tend to slouch forward or stick the head forward at the computer or in the car? Both of those cause imbalance of muscles on different sides of the body (side to side, or front to back). Computer use for hours on end is a HUGE cause of kyphosis.
  13. It was my doctor who sent me to my chiropractor. I think that the problem is that it's hard to find a *good* chiropractor. A good chiro won't just have you walk in, crank you various ways, and then tell you to leave. A good chiropractor is going to talk to you about posture and strengthening exercises, may have you do traction of some variety, and may...
  14. I'm prone to tendonitis in my wrists, probably originating from the time spent on the computer. If I get stressed out, however, even without spending a lot of time on the computer, my tendonitis can flare up and become quite tender and sore. Many of us have physical locations in the body that we "store" stress. (Really, when we're stressed, we tend to...
  15. I would *NEVER* assume that ANYTHING is gluten free - particularly in a buffet. You'll have to call ahead and ask. (I'd bring food along, just in case.)
  16. Well, structural scoliosis is idiopathic, but not all scoliosis is structural. Structural scoliosis occurs when the bones (usually the vertebrae) are "misformed" in some fashion. A number of things - from infections to connective tissue disorders to birth defects to tumors can cause structural scoliosis, and sometimes they just don't know why the bones...
  17. Yep, those are fairly convincing test results that you do indeed have celiac. Celiac is NOT a "born with it or never get it" issue. You are born with the genes that *could* cause celiac, but they often need a trigger in order to be expressed. (Not all functional genes in the body are always expressed. What is expressed varies from part of the body to...
  18. It's a grey area of the tax code. In theory, with a doctor's note the price difference between gluten-free and non-gluten-free foods, and the full price of any "unique to gluten-free cooking foods" (like, xanthum gum) can be included in the medical expenses deduction, which can only be taken if your medical expenses total at least 7.5% of your gross...
  19. Silk Nog, yum! they make a pumpkin latte too. double yum!
  20. Whole Foods, Bartell's, and a few other random places.
  21. Awww, thanks guys. You know, when I was a little kid - like six - I wanted to be a psychologist. Everyone thought I was weird. (Well, I had seen one when my mom died when I was five, and I really liked her! She let me draw a lot. ) I ended up on a different path, but am coming sort of back to it as a yoga teacher. Not really therapy, but more of a...
  22. You might try finding pure shea butter. Good stuff, and perfectly safe/good for the pets too!
  23. Definitely he cannot eat a bird stuffed with regular stuffing. You could make gluten free stuffing. You can also cook the stuffing outside of the bird - which is more sanitary and gets you a juicier bird anyway.
  24. I am asthmatic and pregnant, so I got both vaccines. I did not have the flu mist, since I don't qualify for the live virus. I had no adverse reactions - not even much in the way of a sore arm.
  25. unless you know what's in the "vegetable seasoning", I would not assume i'ts safe
