    ARCHIVED Beer

I assume because he told me not to drink it that the malt was barley. I guess someone could try to find out the source of the malt. I don't think I will call again. Tom

    ARCHIVED Beer

Heck I've already been halfway out the door twice. First for Rolling Rock and then for Amstel. Glad I read the follow up posts! Tom
  3. Hi Cara, I may not be the best person to answer this as I have no children but I have often felt as though this is one of the hardest things to manage. I as an adult know what my options are and have to decide to do what is right. That said I have a few questions I would like to ask you. Is your son the only person in the house with celiac disease? If...

    ARCHIVED Beer

Katherine, Thanks for the warning. By the way how did it taste? It has been over a year for me and I forgot how good beer was. Tom

Do you definitely have Celiac Disease? Tom
  7. Hi Sillyak, My depression in the beginning was related to my physical condition. I was underweight and therefore unable to do those things that I had previously enjoyed. I took anti-anxiety medication only long enough to allow me to relax and sleep so I could gain back some weight. As soon as my physical condition improved I quit taking the meds. Dealing...
  8. This is how I feel exactly. I run into people all the time that try to feel sorry for me but I feel a lot more normal and healthier than they ever will. Tom
  9. Karen, That is exactly what I told my wife when it was down. 1760 views. Way to go Mrs. Altoid! Tom
  10. I've made chili numerous times but I use the Goya kidney beans in a can. They are already cooked and I add them in the last 5 to 10 mins of the cooking time of the chili. Never had a problem. Tom
  11. Hi Kiki, I was Dx'd almost 1 year ago. My symptoms went away in only 2 days. It did however take me about 10 weeks to gain any real weight. All of us are different. The biggest hurdle for me was to realize that I was going to be ok. Even though I did not gain weight right away I stopped losing as soon as I went gluten free. This told me I was healing...

IBS stands for "I've Been Scr...d" ! Tom
  13. Hi Lisa, I have a a couple of questions? First did you go completely gluten free for the couple of months? Also when you are in school can you get enough gluten free food to eat? You say you are in a dorm. Are you on a meal plan? Can you approach the school about your food sensitivity? There are a lot of naturally gluten free foods. This is not the most...
  14. I've been on the diet about a year and have never asked to clean slicer. I have had no problems. Usually get Boar's Head brand meats and cheese. Maybe I'm just lucky because I do have celiac disease. Tom
  15. ChelsE, Was that east BFE or west BFE? Also did they ask you to supersize? Tom
  16. I agree with this post and it is ok to feel sad in the beginning. I have heard two things since I have been gluten-free for almost a year that I take to heart. First food is fuel before anything else and second I eat to live and not live to eat. Good luck with the wedding. I personally did not have one but have been happily married for 21 years long after...
  17. Was Dx'd at 55 and as far as I can tell based on the positive diet results that is all I have. Tom

    ARCHIVED Advice...

Amanda, I'm 56 and I had D issues for about the past 10 years. Last year after a bad bout of the flu I started losing weight and was positively Dx'd with Celiac Disease. My D symptoms were about once or twice a month and sometimes lasted as long as 1 or two weeks. I think I was accidentally going on and off gluten during those times and that is why...
  19. Stephanie, Did you respond to the gluten-free diet in a positive way? Are you saying you have been gluten free for the past 2 years and still have problems? Tom
  20. Stephanie Who told you to go on gluten-free diet? Tom
  21. Just curious what did you eat to get the gluten? Tom
  22. Monica How long have you been on gluten-free diet? Tom
  23. I take a small bottle of La Choy with me to a local Chinese resturant and order the chicken and or shrimp with steamed veggies. Along with the steamed rice. I used my dining cards for first few visits but now they know me so all is well. (I read the label for the house soy sauce and it does contain wheat). Tom
  24. Except for the desserts this listing looks very close to the exact diet I have been on the past 11 months. I think eating the mostly non-processed gluten free foods is the biggest reason I have not been glutened one time. One of my favorite cooking vessels is the crockpot. I have eaten all the leftovers that I have ever created. For this reason I am positive...
  25. Cornbread with chopped bacon and shredded cheese added to batter or crushed pineapple added to batter. Put in muffin tins and eat for breakfast with coffee. Tom
