  1. lmj623, I don't see where anybody has mentioned Magnesium. You can 't make energy without Magnesium it is best to find either 100% CITRATE form or Glycinate. See this link where other people discuss similar strategies and or Vitamins/supplements they took to resume their activities after their celiac disease or before they became sick with...
  2. johnnyboy, Niacin can help with the itching. I don't know if it will completely get rid of the rash or not but being able to get rid of the scratching sometimes is half the battle. See this thread where Knitty Kitty on this board used Niacin to help relieve the itching associated with the Celiac rash - DH. To learn more how to use the Niacin...
  3. Mrs. Doyle,

I saw you wrote about Niacin.  Did you ever get better taking Niacin.

Have you ever researched much about Niacinamide.  The Amide version of Niacin.  It is the naturally flushless version of the Vitamin.

See the website in my profile if you want to research more about Niacinamide.

    It really helped me.

    Posterboy,

  4. Babygirl6915, I remember reading some where that most antibodies goes down after 6 months with the most dramatic improvement after a month and why most doctor's follow back up after a month with more blood test and in again in a year for gluten free compliance. I think this is good news. You have successful kept yourself from gluten and have not...
  5. Antonette, It sounds like the Udon noodles might of got you. I have no proof of this it is only anecdotal information and might be disputed by people on this board but offer it for your consideration. Among my friends those who have never had DH? problems before with gluten often after a gluten fast as you say your were on . . . and after a...
  6. Stephy, Ennis_Tx is right. Magnesium Citrate will make you go. They sell it as a presurgical flush in a concentrated form. There is a good iconic powder form of Magnesium Citrate a little less powerful called "natural calm" that if you take in a heaped up teaspoon usually will cause a movement. Magnesium attracts 800 molecules of water...
  7. Cboray, An easy home test for thyroid problems is to take your body temperature. Our thyroids regulate our body temperatures. If it is more than 1/2 point off in the evening either way their is a thyroid problem. See this link from the NYtimes feature "Think Like a Doctor" that follows' a ladies diagnosis of a thyroid problem. Open Original...
  8. Pegleg84, This is from another post but I wasn't sure how to quote it. From another thread from my answer docs are clueless "I agree with GFinDC. Find you some BetaineHCL capsules. I suggest starting with 3 or 4 capsules at a time. Some people need as many as 6 at a time but you can usually count down to one if you have a "warm sensation...
  9. Cboray, I agree with GFinDC. Find you some BetaineHCL capsules. I suggest starting with 3 or 4 capsules at a time. Some people need as many as 6 at a time but you can usually count down to one if you have a "warm sensation" in the area of your stomach after you get used to the sensation you will know what to expect. If it gives you heartburn...
  10. Ennis_TX, Pica is a classic anemia (iron deficiency) induced activity as well as craving ice. Chocolate cravings usually indicate a Magnesium deficiency. Chocolate and Nuts especially Almonds and Cashews are the best dietary sources of Magnesium. And explains your strange cravings for Almonds and Chocolate. See this post where I talk about...
  11. Alyssa16, This is to follow up on what you said about the doctor's finding the results inconclusive. This quote is from the article by the Dr. Hoggan the author of Dangerous Grains about how a "biopsy" proven Celiac diagnosis came to be. Quoting Dr. Hoggan "Perhaps he missed all the twists and turns that researchers have experienced on their...
  12. Phaeri, I don't know of any "timeline" you asked about (maybe others on this board can help) but I had a friend who had never had the celiac rash "dh" until he was off gluten for a year and decided to cheat with a beer to celebrate one year of being gluten free. but i think for most people it is the intense bone deep itching that promps a visit to...
  13. Ironictruth, I don't know if this will help you are not. but when doing other research I came across this article on nytimes. Open Original Shared Link Quoting from the opening of the article (read it all for yourself) "On Thursday we Open Original Shared Link a 43-year-old woman had such terrible abdominal pain that she lost more...
  14. seeking2012, ponyridepele is right. Low stomach acid contributes to GERD and too many CARBS if Dr. Chris Kreser is correct. Timeline is important with any diagnosis. IF you stomach acid was HIGH as you often hear (everywhere) you hear an acid for acid reducer’s then eating food (carbs, greasy things) wouldn’t bother you. The acid would cut...
  15. sbatson1958, I want to add to what cycylinglady said when she said "We are not doctors here. Just folks who are willing to help each other based on common sense and experience." Even doctor's get it wrong I want to say sometimes . . . . but I think it is more often than we give them credit for sometimes. Readers of the well section in the...
  16. sbatson1958, See this post that talks about someone else who has had similar problems with a DH like rash. I think it will answer most of your questions. Where it occurs can be a clue. DH rashes and/or rashes that occur when someone is low in Niacin causing hive like reactions in the skin usually occur quoting Knitty Kitty from the link discussion...
  17. jorge0464, You are seeing more and more articles about what "Delimits" Celiac or is there environmental triggers that can cause those genetically predisposed to develop Celiac disease that can actually trigger it in our bodies. It reminds of this research that asks "Could changing Gut Bacteria Prevent Celiac Disease" linked here https://www...
  18. Ennis and Cstark, I wanted to reply to this topic but have been busy with other things (stressed) so I am finally getting around to it. Celiac.com reported these findings https://www.celiac.com/articles/23506/1/Stress-Common-Before-Celiac-Diagnosis/Page1.html and explains why stress (not day to day stress) but Trauma really can trigger worse symptom...
  19. Fyremaker, I know there is a more up to date reference to this but I can't ever seem to find exactly what I want using the search function on celiac.com so here is the older reference on celiac.com but just Google Benicar and Celiac sprue symptom's. Some medicine can cause some of these same symptom's. https://www.celiac.com/articles/22969/1/Blood...
  20. egs1707 etal (cstark mr. Pep'r, Ennis) I know Magnesium really works. There is actually a book called "The Magnesium Miracle" that talks about a lot of these benefits that Magnesium can offer people by Dr. Carolyn Dean. I have not read the book I found George Eby Research website had more than enough information about Magnesium to learn about...
  21. Mr. Pep'r, If you are having Iron problems take some beta carotene. It can improve iron absorption by a factor of three. The Journal of Nutrition link is a technical response. Open Original Shared Link The NCBI link is a more summary form Open Original Shared Link quoting "This information suggest that vitamin A and beta...
  22. cstark et al, (ennis and ironictruth etc), It is not uncommon for Celiac's to be low in many nutrients obviously (see ennis commment) but I found that when I found Magnesium helped all my fatigue issues drastically improve. Look up George Eby and magnesium and you will learn all you ever imagined about how Magnesium helps us make energy. I...
  23. Pegleg84, To answer your question about IBS and Celiac disease it not well understood that their is a continuum of disease often. ONE can lead to the other in time. Co-morbidity is hard to prove but new search is noting it does happen more than doctor's realize. See this link from Celiac.com https://www.celiac.com/articles/24058/1/Large-Number...
  24. Beachgirl, I do not have microscopic colitis but I agree with GFinDC. It is not uncommon to have multiple GI diseases in the same person. It is called Co-Morbidity. I do a lot of nutrition research (5+ years since my Celiac diagnosis) and it is sad to see how often doctor's don't find/recognize gluten as the trigger and a totally avoidable...
  25. gluten-free andee, according to an article on celiac.com that talks about this subject see this link https://www.celiac.com/articles/24406/1/Celiac-Diease-and-Other-Autoimmune-Diseases-Equals-Low-Inflammatory-Diet/Page1.html Quoting the author "In the author's personal experience, a gluten-free diet has many limitations. The reactivity between...
