ARCHIVED Got Worse On Wheat-free Diet
Ursa Major replied to KevinG's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with the others. Also, have you ever considered that dairy may be one of your problems? It can cause the same villous atrophy as gluten (as can soy), with generally the same symptoms. It could well be a combination of gluten and casein. Plus, as has been said, you weren't gluten-free, just gluten light. And withdrawal can be a real problem. Many... -
ARCHIVED Happy Birthday To Andrea!
Ursa Major replied to Rachel--24's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Happy Birthday, Andrea! Wow, 40, you're still a spring chicken! I hope you are having a wonderful day, and a great dinner tomorrow. Your outing sounds like fun. -
Angie, he is definitely rude! I've never had a seller treat me like that. He doesn't deserve positive feedback. If the part turns out to be acceptable, I'd leave neutral feedback, stating that you're satisfied with the merchandise, but not the quality of communication.

ARCHIVED Pott Trained Having Accidents All The Time
Ursa Major replied to AmyTopolski's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Those accidents make perfect sense. Because gluten will affect the nervous system, she apparently cannot sense a full bladder any more. Once the gluten has cleared out of her system, I'm sure she'll return to going to the bathroom on time. It must be distressing for her as well, though, poor little one. You may need to get her a t-shirt that has reminders... -
Well said (and I'll take the Jewish mother any time, sounds good to me). I was being abused by my husband throughout our whole marriage, the celiac disease just brings another dimension to it. Janet has been difficult for me to deal with all along, she is too much like her dad, self-centered and controlling (even though most people outside this family thinks...

IMResident, where did I say that the diet doesn't help me feel better? I used to be on codeine 24 hours a day for absolutely horrible fibromyalgia pain, and that only took the edge off, barely allowing me to sort of function. Many days I had to supplement that with extra strength Tylenol. I also was extremely ill for six months last summer with terrible,...

ARCHIVED Daughter Diagnosed Yesterday, Tons Of Questions
Ursa Major replied to mom2two's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
There IS life after gluten and dairy, trust me. Your daughter will adapt, she is little. Was she tested for soy, too? Beware of substituting with soy, it could very well be a problem, too. And soy, as well as casein and gluten, can also flatten the villi. Just explain to her that her tests show that she will get very sick if she keeps eating normal bread... -
ARCHIVED My Hospital Experience
Ursa Major replied to lonewolf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I sure hope that I won't have to spend any more time in a hospital EVER again. I'd be toast with all my intolerances (and not gluten-free toast, either ). They'd kill me if nothing else would. -
Thank you all for your encouragement. Unfortunately there isn't much I can do at this time to make things better. John, my son (23) is so busy, he hardly manages to have any time for his wife (who is pregnant with their first child). He works nearly full time at Staples Business Depot (where he fixes computers), works 15 hours as our youth pastor (in reality...

I've had that problem for six whole months, all day and all night last year. It would happen within minutes of every meal. First that, and then more 'regular' diarrhea. I was so sore, and would actually bleed badly into the toilette at times, because it would burn my hemorrhoids. I'd have to put lotion on my toilet paper to wipe, otherwise it would hurt too...

That sounds interesting, and may work for you. I won't be able to do that, as I really can't tolerate raw foods very well at all.

Things at home are getting harder all the time. I have virtually no support in being gluten-free here. My oldest daughter tells me, that I am being ridiculous in how careful I am about cross-contamination. She tells me that she has a friend with celiac disease, who thinks that it's crazy to have separate can openers and dish brushes etc., she doesn't get...

ARCHIVED Multivitamin That's Gluten-free, Dairy-free And Soy-free?
Ursa Major replied to hineini's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Also, check out the hypoallergenic vitamins on Open Original Shared Link. Even I can take them! -
ARCHIVED Ok....questions About Casein Intolerance?
Ursa Major replied to Lymetoo's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Same here, really very little difference in my reaction (more stomach ache than with gluten, really). -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease And A Rice Allergy!
Ursa Major replied to snomnky's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I find that rice will give me the same symptoms as gluten. Rice is not the hypoallergenic food that people believe it is. Unfortunately, I am not sure if it's possible to find crackers without gluten or rice. Unless you bake your own crackers! But there are still lots of snack foods available, it just won't be as easy to find them now. Still, there... -
Amy, I want to add that having inflammation, and a high tTg could also mean that you're dairy or soy intolerant, rather than gluten (or, actually, it could be gluten and dairy, or all three). Because all of these things can cause flattened villi and inflammation, and the symptoms would be quite similar, too. There are many people with celiac disease who...

ARCHIVED Cleansing?
Ursa Major replied to justme's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, it's quite acceptable to post a link to that site. That said, be careful with cleanses. They CAN be very beneficial.......if it's the right one for you. People with damaged intestines (which we are, until we're completely healed) can react quite violently to those. I sure did! It was a cleanse (all natural ingredients) that put me over the edge into... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease
Ursa Major replied to SVG's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would like to add that almost all newly diagnosed people with celiac disease are also dairy intolerant, at least for a few months. So, if your husband won't improve fairly quickly, or regresses after a while, keep dairy in mind and eliminate it. It is the rare person with celiac disease who doesn't have other intolerances as well, especially in the beginning... -
ARCHIVED Alternative Cure? Or Am I Just Hopeful?
Ursa Major replied to tailz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Steve, you are quite wrong when you think that MOST Christian and Jewish scholars think the bible stories are a myth. That in itself is a myth. I consider you saying that quite arrogant, actually. Why is it, that atheists think they should continuously put down people who believe in God, while they expect that others should be tolerant of their beliefs (or... -
ARCHIVED I Understand That "tailz" Has Been Banned From This Site.
Ursa Major replied to Lymetoo's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Now look, Steve, how would you like it if we'd discuss what you do and don't do, and what we don't like about you on the board? (not that we do, but let's just pretend) If you had posted some very controversial stuff, or are starting to harass people, or are constantly using swear words .......whatever..........and we weren't sure what to do about it. We... -
ARCHIVED Sodium Fluoride Chewables
Ursa Major replied to ashlee's mom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
By the way, the article on fluoride poison mongers is a sham. The fluoride in city water supplies has nothing in common with naturally occurring fluoride. It is a toxic byproduct from the fertilizer industry. Before they were able to sell it to put into our water supply, they had to get rid of it as toxic waste. Obviously, there are many people who would... -
ARCHIVED I Understand That "tailz" Has Been Banned From This Site.
Ursa Major replied to Lymetoo's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Rinne, I tried to help, really. I sent her a very long, very compassionate PM. I gave her good reasons why it would be good if she would stop pushing her agenda so aggressively. I even gave her my e-mail address, in case she wanted some personal support. But she didn't answer me, but rather went ahead with her new name and got more aggressive than before... -
ARCHIVED Sodium Fluoride Chewables
Ursa Major replied to ashlee's mom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I myself are very, very happy that we don't have fluoridated water. It is a nerve toxin and NOBODY should be ingesting it. It lowers IQ and poisons your body. My oldest daughter, who lives in Ottawa (and the water there is fluoridated), has chosen to only use bottled water, so she won't poison her children, her husband and herself with the city water. There... -
ARCHIVED I Understand That "tailz" Has Been Banned From This Site.
Ursa Major replied to Lymetoo's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Rinne, if tailz had problems logging in under her original name, why didn't she let us know who she was, when she started posting under her new identity? Why didn't she approach Scott, asking him to fix the problem, or at least post under the "Board/Technical help" forum? The fact that in one post she called somebody older 'child', creating the image of somebody... -
ARCHIVED I Understand That "tailz" Has Been Banned From This Site.
Ursa Major replied to Lymetoo's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thanks, Gayle, for understanding. I bring up the lectins and salicylates, too, if I think that people might have those intolerances. But I don't go searching for posts where I think people 'need' to hear it, and post exclusively about it. If only she would have started a post on Lyme Disease in the 'Related disorders' forum, put out all the info and the...
