  1. Tailz wasn't banned for anything she posted exactly. After she was asked to stop jumping into every thread were people were asking for advice on symptoms, telling them to find a doctor to diagnose Lyme disease, and kept doing that, Scott warned her (not banned her, by any means). Nobody said that she couldn't put out that information, just that she needed...
  2. First of all, your immune system is probably not working right, due to being poisoned with gluten for years before diagnosis. Secondly, that puts your hormones out of whack, which can, as Carla stated, lead to adrenal fatigue. But also, you could have other intolerances. I am intolerant to salicylates (follow the link in my signature if you're interested...
  3. Hi Ashlee, and welcome to this board. Your hormones changed through pregnancy, obviously. It appears that you may not be able to handle starches very well. You know, most of the time, we crave what we're most allergic to. I will gain weight just by looking at starches and sugars (not really, of course) . I very rarely bake at all, even with non...
  4. Good for you to stick it out, and give them a chance to fix things. What a great experience you had in the end! It is so gratifying to find out that some people actually care, and want to fix their mistakes. They'll likely get things right from the start with the next person with celiac disease, thanks to you spreading awareness about celiac disease.
  5. Yes, absolutely!
  6. I don't know how old you are. But everybody diagnosed with celiac disease should have a bone density scan (except for maybe children). Some people here in their twenties already have osteoporosis. If you don't have osteoporosis yet, then there is no good reason for you to still develop it while on the gluten-free diet (and preferably dairy free as well...
  7. Wow, what great news! That certainly is reason for celebration.
  8. Yes, you will need to go gluten and dairy free as well. Both the casein and gluten pass through breast milk. In fact, a mother has to stop ALL the foods a baby is intolerant to. A good example is my oldest daughter. When her twins (a boy and a girl) were very small babies, they both had severe eczema, and especially the boy would have his skin literally...
  9. Of course, Steve, all that assuming that those people were really, truly, planning on blowing up planes with stuff they would potentially smuggle on board in water bottles (or similar small containers containing liquid), which it appears, there is very little evidence for.
  10. Courtney, I get brain fog after eating rice or eggs as well, and it will last for several days.
  11. My second-oldest daughter was a 'wild little bumblebee', as I called her, when she was little, with wild curls and a mischivious little pixi face. She was ALWAYS in trouble, because she HAD to touch everything, and experiment. And I mean, she really had to, she couldn't help herself. When she was a young teenager, often she'd come down after she had...
  12. Gina, since you appear to have an agenda here, and a vendetta, I would like to let you know, that she was NOT proselytizing (check your spelling, this is how you spell it) while she was conversing with me on whether she should eat meat or not. As others have pointed out already, NOBODY was trying to convert anybody. And for your information, I got very...

    ARCHIVED Scd

There is an scd support group thread here, which you'll find when following this link: Open Original Shared Link I am glad the scd diet has helped you so much, and hope you'll continue to do well. My diet is similar, but even more restricted.
  14. Is your daughter off dairy as well? Dairy could be at least responsible for the vomiting, as most celiacs can't tolerate dairy for at least several months, until their intestines heal. Also, soy could be the culprit as well. Something to check out.
  15. Hi Anne, and welcome to this board! This is the most fun account of a horrible health journey I've ever read. I haven't laughed so hard in a while. All the time feeling for what you've gone through, of course. You're an inspiration with your positive outlook. Too bad you don't live near me, I would love to meet you in person.
  16. Bummer, are you going to complain? It seems that some companies are trying to make life harder for little kids with celiac disease!
  17. I wouldn't be able to drink anything else. I am intolerant to salicylates, which excludes me from drinking any juice, things made from juice, or even flavour to imitate juice, as they're all loaded with salicylates, and will cause me to be in terrible generalized pain by the next day. And no, coke isn't acceptable, either, and neither are tea, coffee or...
  18. Well, Pauliina, you have at this point 98 posts to go, before you can change the text, better get busy!
  19. Gina, this thread was started by Tailz. She has questions, and thinks she MAY have found an answer, or at least part of an answer. Where is she proselytizing? The American Standard Dictionary defines the word as: "To induce someone to convert to ones own religious faith". Can you please show me where anybody has tried to convert you to Christianity? I can...
  20. Butchers will hang up the carcasses to be thoroughly drained of blood before cutting them up to be packaged and sold. We don't have to worry about that, unless we go and butcher our own meat.
  21. I agree with the previous answer. First concentrate on getting yourself better. Then, only when you feel you're well again (which can take up to a year), and you've made sure that your vitamin and mineral levels are normal (have your doctor test you), should you consider getting pregnant. Having a miscarriage is miserable, and unless you're healed, and your...
  22. What it means is, that the blood should be drained from an animal before you eat and cook it, as you're not supposed to eat blood. And of course, that is being done with the meat we buy, anyway. I would never eat something called Blutwurst in German (it says its black pudding in my dictionary in English, but I know its something else here in Canada, just...
  23. I can't tolerate coconut, because it's high in salicylates. I can't tolerate tapioca, and buckwheat only in limited amounts, as I can't seem to tolerate any starches very well. As I've pointed out elsewhere (read Genesis 9, 2-4), God told Noah to eat meat. Even though before the flood, eating meat was not permitted, afterwards things were so different...
  24. Genesis 9, 2-4: (God speaking to Noah)"And the fear of you and the terror of you shall be on every beast of the earth and on every bird of the sky; with everything that creeps on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, into your hand they are given. Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant. Only...
  25. Hooray for your fabulous mother-in-law! How nice that Luke's party turned out to be such a success. The guests likely didn't even realize that the cake wasn't what they would normally get. A tractor cake.......how special. I used to make neat cakes like that for my kids (bunny, tiger, train, type-writer, piano......), and they're so appreciative when you...
