  1. Well, I am so mad with doctors today after seeing my idiot dermatologist, that I almost wished I wouldn't have read this thread until I simmered down a little! It is absolutely unbelievable, that a doctor will diagnose a child with celiac disease and fail to tell his parents about the only cure there is. I say, shoot him! Seriously, it's about time...
  2. What is your GIs reason for outright refusing to test you for celiac disease? What are your symptoms? If you feel better being gluten-free, then it looks like you are intolerant to gluten. I know it is tricky to stay away from gluten! The best thing is to start out with only foods that are naturally gluten free, like meat, eggs, vegetables and fruits,...
  3. Hi Venice boy, and welcome to this board! To your question if any people ever test negative with Enterolab, check this thread, and you will find that they do. One of Carla's daughters came back negative, and one positive! Open Original Shared Link Of course, most people come back positive, as only people who suspect they have celiac disease (or gluten...
  4. I agree with Patti............go ahead and get tested! I am another overweight celiac here, and couldn't lose weight no matter what I tried! Well, not quite true, went on an Atkins type diet a few years ago and lost, but my family pressured me into eating 'normal' again, claiming all that meat I was eating was going to give me a heart attack. Boy, were they...
  5. Interesting, so many people have wondered if anybody ever comes back negative for gluten intolerance from Enterolab. You answered that question, with one of your kids coming back fine, and the other gluten intolerant. I read that lower numbers (but too high to be normal) don't mean a lesser intolerance. She is probably just as intolerant as you are. ...
  6. Well, after waiting five weeks for the results, I got told I don't have DH. Which I don't think is accurate at all. When I finally got in to see the dermatologist five weeks ago, the bad outbreak of DH I had on my left elbow in January was almost healed (no blisters, just still red, swollen and very itchy). He took a chunk of skin out of me (with a punch...
  7. I have been getting those blisters on the insides of my fingers for 30 years now (sometimes they'll spread all over my hands to my arms, though, but that's rare). In fact, I have a whole lot of them right now. Just got back from my idiot dermatologist, who declared they can't be DH, since you can get DH ONLY on your elbows, knees, scalp and lower back. Since...

ARCHIVED 1 Yr Follow Up Visit

Hi, and welcome to this board. You're not neurotic, and actually, you're probably right. Your doctor sounds like a jerk (sorry, just got back from a visit to an idiot dermatologist, so I'm kind of mad at doctors in general right now), don't listen to him, he doesn't know what he is talking about. People with celiac disease are NOT expected to always have...
  9. Yuck, my ONLY fruit has just decided to give me an allergic reaction! I get oral allergy syndrome reactions to a lot of things that aren't even on the lists of foods I officially can't tolerate (and which give me systemic reactions). Now pears have joined the ranks of those. For a while I have thought I was heading this way (tingling on my tongue) when...
  10. Yes, psyllium is no good for me, it makes me worse. The main ingredient in the colon cleanse I tried was psyllium! Some people just can't use it, I guess.
  11. When I tried using one from the health food store a year ago I went into full-blown celiac disease! Those things seem to be way too harsh for somebody who's intestines are already damaged. I am not saying these cleanses are bad, quite the opposite...........for healthy people, that is. But I wouldn't recommend them for anybody who is recovering from celiac...
  12. First of all, I would try to make sure he has enough friendly bacteria in his gut after all those antibiotics. You can buy acidophilus for infants, which is a white powder you can mix with some breast milk and give to him (I did that with a newborn after they gave her antibiotics after birth without my consent). It doesn't seem to taste too bad, as my youngest...
  13. Okay, there is a misunderstanding out there, that one diet is right for everybody. This is absolutely false. Some people need to eat a diet with lots of meat (like me) to feel good, and some people need more carbs and little meat (and mostly the types of meat you're eating), and then there are the ones in the middle of the two. Try googling for 'metabolic...
  14. Hi and welcome to this board. If you were diagnosed with celiac disease at the age of one, you have it still. Because you either have it, or you don't, you don't outgrow it. And all the symptoms you have been having just prove that. Forget about what your doctor says, and go back onto the gluten-free diet! He doesn't know what he is talking about. Also, just...
  15. Yes, I believe this to be true. The things I crave most are German rye bread, tomatoes, juice, ice cream and potatoes. When eating some rye bread I finally connected the dots last October. Within half an hour of eating it, I was doubled over with severe stomach cramps, and soon explosive diarrhea. I react very badly to gluten, obviously! My favourite...
  16. It could also be from another intolerance other than gluten. I used to get awful pains in my legs as a child (they declared them 'growing pains', too bad I never outgrew them!). When I cut out the salicylates in January, the leg pains finally stopped (50 years after they started). The gluten (and other lectins) was responsible for the joint and backpain,...
  17. Ha, the 'scary' pictures look just like what MY OWN FAMILY is doing to me EVERY day. I know I get glutened in my own house, but they don't care, declaring me paranoid when I complain! You know, I get reactions that are very much like gluten reactions from soy, rice, eggs, dairy, all grains and starches and potatoes as well (as in D, bloating, gas, stomach...
  18. Check out this post for the answer to your Enterolab question: Open Original Shared Link
  19. Why does it have to be soy pasta? Rice pasta is nice (Tinkyada is fabulous) and easier to find.
  20. Have you considered finding out what is causing the heartburn? You may have intolerances other than gluten that could be causing heartburn. As for breastfeeding, I don't believe there is any reason why you shouldn't have enough milk for your baby, as it is a very rare thing for a woman not to have enough milk. The gluten-free diet is a healthy diet, that...
  21. Well, I saw somebody post a question about that a while ago, and was wondering about it myself, as my youngest daughter had the blood tests, and it was claimed they were negative. That's all I got, the lab didn't even submit any numbers to the doctor's office (I was mad, after having to pay $130.00 privately, because our provincial insurance won't cover celiac...
  22. Cassidy, I understand that it is very frustrating. Is it possible for you to get a hotel room with kitchen, to cook for yourself? That's what I've had the last two times I've been travelling, and it was great. You may have other intolerances besides gluten. What you're doing sounds like you're getting extremely paranoid, and all the washing and cleaning...
  23. Hi Rachel, and welcome to this board. You sound like you may have the same intolerances I have. To find out more, check the links in my signature on lectins and salicylates. If you read the information it will be easier to see what you need to test for, and will tell you how to do it. And it is possible that you will be able to have some of those things...
  24. I don't believe that breast feeding will have any negative consequences for you, but many benefits for your baby.
  25. Sorry about the double initial post, that ocurred because I merged two duplicate posts, because they had both gotten responses.
