  1. As I said in your other thread: Lard will work fantastic, guaranteed. I've used it in cookies, and they come out fabulous.
  2. I don't think your doctor knows what he is talking about. How could gluten NOT affect a baby in the womb? If it is in breastmilk, I expect that it will be in the blood nourishing an unborn baby as well. I have read that when a baby has hiccups before being born, that signals food intolerances/allergies.
  3. Some people don't start feeling better for six months or so. Plus, you haven't really had a chance to recover with still consuming dairy all this time. Four days off dairy isn't much. Are you eating soy? I'd suggest you eliminate it as well. Give it more time! I know it is hard to be patient when your health is at stake. Still, don't give up. If you...

    ARCHIVED Diagnosis

Right, I forgot about that! No more testing needed.
  5. You know, those wipes are toxic. And while they kill germs, you poison yourself by using them all the time. Soap and dishwashing detergent kill those germs as well, without harming you (unless you use antibacterial soap, which has been proven to be detrimental to health, and no more effective than regular soap in killing germs). AFH, unless your doctor...

    ARCHIVED Diagnosis

You have been gluten-free for two weeks. Chances are that a blood test will be false negative by now, even if it would have been positive two weeks ago. Eating gluten for a few days before the test might still result in a false negative result. If I was you (and had the money), I'd forget about ignorant doctors and get tested with Open Original Shared...
  7. Can you afford to hire a babysitter to come to your house, instead of bringing him to daycare? I babysit for a family right now (where I get glutened, unfortunately). I would be awfully happy to work for a family that need to be gluten-free as well. Maybe you could put an ad in the paper to find a babysitter who has celiac disease/gluten intolerance as...
  8. I just use good old lard for anything like that (make sure it is non-hydrogenated). Despite the negative press, it is NOT bad for you, unless you eat it in excess (which even goes for water, anything is bad for you in excess).
  9. My second oldest daughter (now 26) was overactive before she was born. She had colic as a baby, and projectile vomiting as a two-year-old. They never figured out what was wrong with her. Of course, they also never tested her for gluten intolerance. She was always very hyperactive. Fortunately, she was also shy, and therefore quiet in school (so never any...
  10. You doctor claims you can't have celiac disease? What evidence does he have? A colonoscopy and checking out your esophagus without looking at your small intestine and taking biopsies there will NOT rule out celiac disease. There is a reason why your esophagus is in such rough shape. In the article I read just now, the stated reason is gastric reflux having...
  11. Krista, eliminating SOME dairy is useless. It is either all or nothing in this case. I find it rather telling that you love cheese so much. It is very true that we are usually addicted to the things we are most allergic/intolerant to. You need to eliminate every tiniest little bit of dairy for at least a few months to know if it makes a difference. Just...
  12. Alison, I will pray for Noah right now. I could sure use prayer. Things are deteriorating here at home, it is getting unbearable for Susie and me. Her vice principal in charge of her at school is a complete jerk, and her and my husband are getting to be great buddies, which is very upsetting to Susie and me. They seem to be doing everything they can...
  13. Well, you can stop those carb load ups, because they DON'T help you do better in athletic competitions. It has been proven that people who loaded up on protein did much better. It is a myth that carbs are good for you when doing sports. You do sound like you are gluten intolerant. So, go ahead and go gluten-free. But only if you don't want an official...
  14. I don't think you have acne at all. It sounds very much like either dermatitis herpetiformis (DH for short), which is caused by celiac disease, or some other kind of eczema. The symmetrical rash on your legs is very telling, as DH is most often symmetrical. Are you still consuming dairy products? They are known to cause eczema. One of my granddaughters...
  15. Most vegetables aren't any good for me. But I can tolerate cabbage, celery, rutabaga/turnip, cauliflower, lettuce and limited amounts of a few others. Raw carrots are no good, and cucumbers are definitely out for me. But cooked carrots seem fine in small quantities. Potatoes aren't as hypoallergenic as most people think. I can't tolerate the nightshades...
  16. Well, if you'd buy that house, you wouldn't have to worry as much about scrubbing everything to be safe from cc.

    ARCHIVED Kelsey's

After reading that now Kelsey's uses rice flour for thickening sauces, my husband and I went there to have supper last night after going shopping (Barrie, Ontario). I was hoping to be able to have the creamy chicken, which looked delicious. I asked the waitress to please find out what the ingredients were, since I can't have any wheat (I tried to explain...
  18. You can't do it yourself, and neither can the moderators. You need to PM Scott (admin), and ask him to delete your account and posts for you.
  19. Unfortunately, the permanent teeth are formed inside the gums long before they come out. So, it is quite possible that they will all be yellow. It is also possible that his teeth are so yellow because he doesn't have enamel on them (common with people with celiac disease). Dentists will whiten teeth with bleach (personally, I don't think that is healthy...
  20. I'll be praying! I hope you can make it on time, how very sad.
  21. Psychiatric conditions are a very common symptom of celiac disease. Many here have gone off antidepressants, and I know of children (and adults) who where completely healed of their ADD/ADHD, mood swings, rage etc., simply by going gluten-free. Give it some time, and don't quit any of those types of meds cold turkey, as that is dangerous. They are all...
  22. Hi Sharon, and welcome to these boards. It is obvious that your daughter should be gluten-free, which includes not eating any oats (in America they are usually contaminated with wheat). Also, it would be best if you also take her off dairy and soy (if she eats/drinks any). Don't be surprised if the tests come back negative. They are very inaccurate for...
  23. Well, today I had to see Susie's principal, who was contemplating expelling her for missing so much school. It had only been 15 days since Susie's kit had been sent back to Enterolab, but I really needed evidence that something is wrong with her, and she isn't just lazy and skipping school for no reason. So, I called Enterolab and asked if it was possible...
  24. Since obviously there will be flour dust floating around in the air, you will be glutened all the time. There is almost no point of being on the gluten-free diet if you work in an environment like that. So, I agree, either wear protection, or find a new job. Of course, even with wearing a mask you'll have flour all over yourself, your clothing, hands and...
  25. It never occurred to me that the pads could be causing a discharge! I bet it is on purpose, too, so people will 'have' to buy them. I've made my own pads out of flannel now, and my discharge has gotten a lot less. I also used to get terrible rashes and unbearable itchiness, which stopped as soon as I started using fabric pads.
