  1. Hi Amanda... It seems that thyroid issues are very common with celiac. There are a lot of members of this board with Hashimotos. When my TSH is over 2 I feel hypo...so good that your Dr recognizes that a level of almost 3 isn't great. Do you have any hypo symptoms? Have you had a full thyroid panel (TSH, free T3, Free T4, reverse T3, TPOAb and TgAb...
  2. Hi Jim...I hadn't looked at the prices...but gluten free stuff does tend to cost more. I'm spoiled because where I live we have a dedicated gluten free restaurant and a bakery. I love going and being able to order anything and not having to explain anything.
  3. That was a good read Cristiana. I wonder sometimes if I'm getting the right nutrients. Besides cutting out gluten and soy, I'm very dairy light. I don't know if I get enough calcium or magnesium or any of the B's. So much of the gluten food I used to eat was fortified with all of this. If you look at the breads, cereals, pastas that contains gluten...
  4. You have so much going on... (((hugs))) The thyroid is a pain to get regulated. At least mine is. Lol! I currently take Levoxyl...I had a reaction to synthroid. I've also tried a synthetic T3 twice with issues both times. Levoxyl has worked better than any others for me, but I'm still having issues as my body doesn't convert from T4 to T3 as it should...
  5. Omg...I'm so sorry. (((Hugs))) That's a tough one...at least now you've found it and won't eat it again. Maybe you'll even be able to add other food back in. Love Barts idea of the magnifying glasses...my eyes aren't what they used to be.
  6. Lol Gemini! It's like you know me! I'd already spotted the bakery and planned to go there! There do seem to be some good options...it's my first time so I'd love for it to go well. I remember when you went to the UK...The gluten free options sounded so great. I'd love to go back there...it's been a long time.
  7. Thanks Gemini...you are so much braver than I am! I was really hoping someone would say that there is a wonderful gluten free place that they eat at all the time...no such luck yet.
  8. Thanks mamaw...my husband wants a 5th wheel or something like it. I'll have to tell him how much you like yours. We are really far from Florida so we won't be driving. It would take 2 days each way. But the condo is owned by relatives who are super clean. Since becoming gluten free I've eaten at 4 restaurants...got sick after 2 of them...Red Robin and...
  9. Thanks mamaw...I was interested in the jules flour. How do you like it? I saw that glutenfreegirl has a flour now too. Gum free. I wanted to order, but the shipping was so high.
  10. We are planning our first vacation since my diagnosis. Well...last year we headed up to the mountains for a few days but brought a camp stove and cooked everything. But this will be out of state and I'd love to have somewhere safe to eat. We will be staying in a condo so will cook most of our meals and really I could cook all of our meals. I do that every...
  11. Hi Murphy... (((Hugs)))...it can be such a struggle, especially when you are starting out. I can imagine that it was difficult to eat your salad while watching everyone else eat pizza. I'm glad I was a stay at home home when I was diagnosed because the place I worked was always having food for something. Good for you to stick with a safe lunch. Keep...
  12. Oh yes...that thyroid has been literally kicking my butt recently...really hard to get it figured out and as soon as you do...it does something else to drive you crazy!
  13. Such a helpful response Gemini...I feel so encouraged when I hear someone like you, 10 years in and doing great, say it took 3 years to feel well. That reminds me to be patient in this.
  14. Hi RMJ...it's good to hear that this has helped you! A few questions: How long were you gluten free before you started it? What ongoing symptoms did you have? How long after starting it did you feel better? Have you tried reintroducing foods? Thanks so much!
  15. Really good question Cristiana...I don't have an answer, but am interested to hear the answer. I've heard this diet mentioned and have thought of trying it myself. If you decide to do it, please report back on any results!
  16. All of the above suggestions are good. If you haven't had your thyroid checked...it could be that. When I get hyper my hands tremble. I do get shaky when my blood sugar gets low too.
  17. Thanks ladies...I appreciate it. I don't even get it. What is happening to my body? I went in and saw the endo and had a truly disappointing appointment. He seemed annoyed that I was there as he had put a message in my patient portal saying one sentence...called in 25 mcg levoxyl to take with current meds until appointment. That was it. I called...
  18. Thanks cyclinglady...it's so frustrating! I'm going through 2 pairs of pajamas a night and not getting good sleep for sure. A couple of weeks ago I yelled at my kids...never been much of a yeller. I felt so bad. I feel like I don't know my body anymore.
  19. Labs just in... TSH: 8.16 (.45-4.5) Free T4: 1.03 (.82-1.77) Free T3: 1.9 (2.0-4.4) Wow...
  20. Interesting turn of events. Got a message from my Dr that my TSH is elevated and he was sending in a prescription for an additional 25 mcg of levoxyl a day for me to take until my appointment on the 2nd. I called in and got a cancelation appointment from this afternoon. My results aren't posted yet so I have no idea what the TSH is. This is weird right...
  21. Thanks so much Nicole...really need the hugs! Absolutely it could be something else...I just don't know what for sure. I do have terrible allergies, I'm certainly having hormonal issues (perimenopause)...I know that being hypo or hyper can give you a headache. I'm just lost right now. But the constant headache is wearing me down. I don't feel like...
  22. I like Canyon...but no one on my family does. My husband hasn't found one he likes...so he eats it without a bun now.
  23. Thanks Colleen...I appreciate the encouragement. I've seen some increase in energy with this med, but it's not worth the daily headache. The past few months working with an endo don't feel like I've gotten anywhere in figuring out my thyroid. Other than that it doesn't work right.
  24. Hi Colleen...thanks for the response! Last time I tried the T3 it was 5 mcg and I got chest tightness and D. This is 1 mcg in a slow release. No chest tightness, some D, every day a headache. I guess he likes to test 6 weeks after a med change? He has not tested pituitary function. I did have an ultrasound which found one small non suspicious nodule...
  25. Welcome to the board! I love your positive attitude. Please stick around and post some more!
