  1. Hey again... I'm continuing to struggle with my thyroid. Sigh...I've been on the compounded med for a few weeks now and I've had a headache every day. It's so frustrating. After crying about it last night I went in this morning to get labs done...A week earlier than planned. I need to see if anything is off with the numbers. Otherwise, either my body...
  2. Hi blueshades...it's great to hear that you've had some times if feeling really well. Great motivator to stay completely gluten free right? I do think life tends to be too fast paced as well.
  3. Shepherds Pie tonight...mmm...comfort food.
  4. Agreeing with Nicole. That IgA is so close to deficient. And with the D and iron being low too it makes me wonder. The IgG tests would be good to have done. It will be very interesting to see her thyroid stuff. From what I've read, low D and iron are fairly common in Hashis. I'm low in both and I have it. Let us know!
  5. ((Hugs)) It can be such a struggle! I've always had impressively low cholesterol! Lol! Probably because my body wasn't absorbing. Anyway, a few months after my celiac diagnosis I had a physical that included cholesterol. All of a sudden I had high cholesterol. What? My triglycerides were 155. Anyway...my Dr gave me a whole lecture and printout...
  6. Thanks havanesemom...totally agree on the frustration. I had a call in to my Dr about something and when the nurse called back it was quite obvious that something had been lost in the relaying of messages. Argh! I hope you have good luck getting your levels back up...any progress on getting off the ppi?
  7. Let us know how it goes!
  8. I hear you on that! I started my period a month before I turned 12 and they've always been awful...and are getting worse. I do think I'm in perimenopause and I do think that there is a hormonal component to my breakouts. Really interested to see what others say.
  9. I would like to know too as I get it there as well and don't like it.
  10. Thanks Nicole. Ugh...I've been using them to wipe the counters when my kids do have gluten. Ugh! What do you use instead? I liked it because I wasn't getting gluten on my sponge. Feel so dumb!
  11. That's really interesting. I hadn't thought of that. It makes me wonder...are Clorox wipes enough to clean off gluten? Or is soap and water and scrubbing needed? Thanks
  12. It is almost gone and I'm so thankful. One thing that still seems to bring it on is large stores...done know if it's all the lights or what. I'm thinking it was something related to that cold...Some kind of swelling. Very uncomfortable. I'm so glad yours resolved!
  13. I would love to know what he recommends for the ferritin. And do keep us posted on your other thyroid stuff. Do PPIs keep you from absorbing nutrients? That stinks. I was on one for 6 weeks while treating h.Pylori. I was scared to come off because I kept hearing about a rebound effect. That didn't happen to me...but it is apparently fairly common...
  14. That's discouraging isn't it? (((Hugs))). The ferritin and D are definitely low. Did he give you an amount to take to supplement? As far as the thyroid stuff goes...The #s are within range. The free T4 is pretty low unless your reference range is really different from mine. Mine is usually around 1.35. But none of that means you do or don't have...
  15. The Dr that told me I should stop reading so much had no clue that having one AI increases your chances of getting another. He also had no idea about the connection between celiac and Hashis. He refused to fest me for Hashis. That was the day I quit.
  16. Oh I'm sorry... ((hugs)). I've had a Dr talk me out of testing before and then regretted it as soon as I walked out. Anyway...those tests will not tell you if you have Hashimotos, you need the antibody tests for that. You can even have those come back completely normal and still have Hashimotos. That happened to my mom. She finally insisted on the antibody...
  17. Awww... (((hugs)))...hope you are feeling better. That stinks!
  18. Thanks all for your input! I decided to order Better Batter again. Creature of habit I guess.
  19. I'm really low on flour right now and need to get some. I'm wondering what your favorite all purpose gluten free flour is. I've tried a few so far: Bob's- didn't like Pamelas- liked OK King Arthur- really liked for pancakes...cookies not as much Better Batter- my overall favorite so far I've been thinking about trying gfJules flour. Or I may just...
  20. I know! I'm amazed when a Dr says it looks fine when 1 point down it would be too low. It's tough. I really hate going to Dr's. I have such a mistrust of them and going to an appointment is very anxiety producing for me. I have to do serious deep breathing in the waiting room preparing to go in. So when my Dr says your ferritin looks good...instead of...
  21. Crockpot maple dijon chicken thighs and drumsticks, risotto and a veggie...not sure which veggie sounds good to go with yet. Hmmm...
  22. How very frustrating! I'm so sorry you are dealing with this (((hugs))). In my opinion you deserve a better level of care. A toilet bowl full of blood to me is quite concerning. Unfortunately, it does seem like a lot of Dr's don't care enough.
  23. Oh my goodness the setbacks can be hard! For me, the emotional part is the worst. But I'm an emotional person so it is to be expected. How did you figure out your egg intolerance? I'm taking ferrous gluconate on the suggestion of another celiac friend. It's supposed to be easy on the GI system and so far have had no issues. I did put in a request...
  24. I've been using this too. I like it. And the price is better than a lot of other ones too.
  25. You know more than most Dr's. Lol My Dr told me that same thing...that I needed to read less. I walked out of his office, sat in my car and cried and switched Dr's.
