  1. Elye - Have you thought about an insulin pump? You are not restriced to eating at certain times with the pump - I can go all day without putting one carb/calorie into my body! It's the best thing I've done in my 26 years with this disease. I regret not getting one sooner.
  2. Thank you - may I ask where you found that info? I poured over their website and came up with nothing! Once I hear a response I will let you know...I can't think of what else it may have been. Thanks again!
  3. I ate one the other day and boy oh boy did I get ill - can anyone confirm that these do in fact have gluten or did I get it elsewhere? I have yet to hear back from the manufacturer, Jelsert. Thanks
  4. I also live in a household where I am the only one who is gluten-free. I bought my house with a friend of mine - I do not think it's fair to force him to become gluten-free when he does not have Celiac disease, so for the next 4 years I will be in a dual household (not sure if when James and I get a place I will make it strictly gluten-free - I somehow doubt...
  5. And I echo your sentiments - it's been 8 months for me and I empathize greatly. There are surprises at every corner, that's for sure! I know it's going to get easier with time...so I'll stick it out for the long haul! so what's the verdict on the store bought brands...do you think those are made alongside oats and other gluteny items??? I have bought...
  6. Are you, by chance, a Buffet fan?? I now know what Fins Up means due to my tenant having the following license plate: FNZ-UP We call her Funs Up because when we bought the house we figured that's what the plate meant - so we ask her, are you no fun?? What's the deal and then she explains the whole Buffet thing... Just curious!
  7. Seriously, I can't even imagine how many times I've seen on this board not to eat Quaker rice cakes because of cross contamination and posts from those glutened by them. So I said, no more Quaker! So I started buying Mother's...(I'm sure some of you know where I'm going with this now) so I'm eating a cheddar rice cake and BAM I feel like crap...can't suck...
  8. Oh man I felt bad for him...I was actually expecting a better series than this because the Mets have had such a fantastic season so far. You could definitely tell that he was having a hard time pitching against his former team mates, which is my biggest gripe with pitchers - NO EMOTIONAL PITCHING!!! I was always a "get rid of Lowe" advocate for the same...
  9. I can help you out with Billerica - I work there. There is a Whole Foods in Bedford, MA which is the next town over from Billerica. It's expensive, but you can get many gluten-free staples there. Demoula's, the local supermarket, also has an okay gluten-free section. As for eating out....Billerica itself doesn't have many restaurants that aren't fast...

    ARCHIVED Warts

I had warts as a kid - they covered the front side of my right hand - NASTY! I had them frozen off with liquid nitrogen - I remember seeing a similar OTC product - here's a link for it Open Original Shared Link it was painful as a kid...and took multiple treatments, but it sure worked! I'm not sure how effective the OTC stuff is. Good Luck!
  11. There are many sulfite free, organic wines. But I have yet to find one that tastes good, not state side anyhow. For the most part, they all taste like dirty socks
  12. I'll have to echo Green Mountain Gringo - there is just something so delicious about those chips! I also like that they are strips vs. triangles.
  13. Stoli is on the Clan-Thompson gluten-free list
  14. Your son shouldn't be reacting to the potato itself, it's just a potato. What else was in the recipe? Sweet potatoes are much healthier than white potatoes, low on the Glycemic Index and packed with fiber!
  15. I am in the minority here...I was overweight prior to diagnosis and have been gluten-free for 8 months. I do not cheat and am quite diligent. I keep putting weight on - I've put on over 15 pounds. I seem to have finally plateaued, but it's frustrating. I even started Weight Watchers two months ago and I would go down 2 pounds one week and up 3 pounds...
  16. I just called - it is gluten-free!!! I was curious myself... Edited to add - that I also have never heard of any tonic or soda waters that contain gluten tonic is only quinine (sp?), carbonated water and sugar and soda water is just carbonated water and sodium you can get seltzer which is just like soda water, but without the sodium
  17. It sure is! Silk is made by White Wave and all flavors of their soy milk (and cream which I love!) are gluten-free!
  18. You're gaining weight because as your villi heal they are absorbing the nutrients in food, whereas before you went gluten-free your villi were hardly, if at all, absorbing any of the nutrients. It's frustrating, believe me. I was already overweight and have put on about 15 pounds. Some here say they lost weight when going gluten-free, I'm just not finding...
  19. I love Pindar too!!! Do you know how long it took me to figure out the name on their sign outside? It looks like something foreign! I don't live on LI, but my family is from there - I'll actually be there this weekend! My family lives in Jamesport/Aquebogue
  20. I'd have to agree and say don't hide it - I haven't dated in a while, but I met my bf when I first started on my insulin pump. I never hid it from him and now he knows almost all the intracacies of it - he even knows how to take it off when we're intimate. One reason not to hide it is if this relationship were to progress further than he'll be surprised...
  21. I don't want to delve too deeply into the subject - it tends to offend some people, so I'll ask you to do a bit of research - buy the book even! It's very inexpensive...I don't mean to sound rude, but in a public forum such as this it can just stir up too much debate. I will leave you with this link: Open Original Shared Link it's intense, but accurate
  22. I have to agree with the other posters that won't succumb to Wal-Mart or Sam's club. I wont shop at either and actually just finished a great book: How Walmart is Destroying America and the World and What You Can Do About It - I'd highly recommend it for those that posted their distaste. I actually don't shop at either - I shop at BJ's and they...
  23. I just ate it and it was delicious...although I took my first bite and a lost a big blob of cream on the floor. I wanted that blob!
  24. well I had a peice of the bread this morning and I just had a macaroon - my boss picked me up THREE of everything - including the decadant cake. I am going to freeze most of it when I get home. It's so hard not to rip through the entire box though! Thanks again for the heads up!
  25. My boss lives in Worcester and is going tonight to pick me up some treats tonight! Thank you for the info - I am looking forward to a tasty cookie and whatever else they may have!
