Hum, McSteamy-ish...wonder if I would like Atlanta, lol.
Carla - hope you don't mind if I re-ask you some stuff we talked about ages ago...this time I'm writing it down, I promise, lol. Does your doctor have you on any supplements for the adrenals? I'm taking all kinds of supplements--no prescriptions, just a lot of supplements. I swear, it's only been a couple of days and I haven't even been taking them all yet cuz I'm trying to introduce each one at a time to see if I react to any AND I was trying to finish that stupid stool test, but I already feel a little better...maybe it's placebo effect, I don't know, lol.
Rinne - I found some Himalayan salt at my Whole Foods yesterday, so in honor of you I bought some, lol. How much did you start off with. I'm drinking some warm water now with about 1/4 teaspoon I think. Reminds me of chicken broth without the chicken.

Thank you Judy!!!

Happiest of Birthdays to you!!

Donna- I didn't know you were single?????
Yep, so very single.
Just heard from Evie's daughter Shirleyhere is the post I just put on the new thread for her-
I just heard from Evie's daughter Shirley,
I haven't writen her back yet as wanted to post this ASAP.
I'm hoping she won't mind me posting her email to me.
I'm going to write her and ask her if she has time to print out the messages we write to Evie on the thread I did and take them to her in the hospital. I think they will cheer her up. Jim did that for me when I want in the hospital and it sure was wonderful.
Here is the email--
Hi-
Evie (My Mom) is in the hospital in Missouri with a serious intestinal infection, C-Difficile and there has been a problem with her kidney (she has only one). The infection has caused problems with the kidney, plus several other areas. She hopes to get to come home by mid week next week. The C-Dif is a very strong and BAD bacteria that takes over when too many antibiotics have been prescribed. She is doing better and the kidney is doing better - just a slow long process. I know she misses her friends on the forum and am sure when she gets home, you will be hearing from her again. I will let her know you are praying for her and thinking of her. Shirley
At least we know that she is in the hospital and her daughter is there.
Judy
So, if Evie is in the hospital, who DID I see, lol. Her user-name was definitely online yesterday--I even went back and check the last active time.

I've had horrible itching on my legs since around June of this year. Only in my case there is no outward sign that anything is wrong...no swelling, no rash, no discoloration, etc. After I scratch it looks like a war zone however. I had a massage yesterday and kept thinking she would be afraid to touch my legs, lol. I haven't found anything to make it go away completely. I've tried antihistamines (Zyrtec), but those didn't help. In the last couple of weeks I've started an elimination diet (for other reasons) and that seemed to calm everything down...a couple of days ago I tried eating mango again (which I was eating almost every day since June), and for the last two days my legs have been itching like crazy again. So in my case, it may be either too much sugar and/or the mango. I don't know...I scratched in my sleep last night.
Oh, and the other odd thing about my itching is that it happens symetrically most of the time...for instance, if one thigh is itching, the other will as well. Crazy!

We really miss you Evie! I am praying that you get well very soon!

I couldn't get into the ones Oprah reccomended the jersey ones. What thread count do you reccomend? I deserve the best.
It's been a while since I've bought mine, but I think anything less than 200 thread count is kind of thin. I think mine are around 300 thread count. They've lasted a long time, but then, I'm single so don't wash mine every week, lol.

Hey Donna,
They do look old don't they? Did you see the Seinfield episode about the book George took in the bathroom?
If they are good I'll have to try them.
I didn't see that Seinfeld. And, it's not only that they LOOK old, they act old too, lol. Maybe I'm just immature, lol.
On the sheets--just be sure that they are a high thread count. Knit sheets are nice too, but not quite as warm as flannel.
-
I missed so much- Saw something on here about flannel sheets. I've been thinking about getting some but didn't know what brand -
I LOVE flannel sheets...I think I got mine from JC Penney cuz they seem to have a nice selection of deep pocket fitted sheets. I think I've also purchase some from QVC which were nice.

Donna
I guess you just don't know where that book has been
Yes, well, dont' I know QUIRKS
If I told you all some of my phobias.....shower and sink mold, bathtubs (I lost the ability to take a bath years ago, unless it's free-standing claw-foot tub, OR a BRAND NEW tub with NO sliding doors (don't ask, I don't know where this has all come from), hot tubs, blah blah blah.....THE OCEAN
and the bottom of lakes
many more I won't bore you with.......
Everyday I see we have more in common!
-
Donna - FYI, the most wondrous thing is half.com, an offshoot of eBay, this is where I get all books/celiac disease's/DVD's - - it can be amazingly cheap if you don't care about the condition of the book.
One of my many quirks...I have a "thing" about used books, lol. Don't know where it came from, but I just can't read a used book. Strange, I know.
Anyway, now that I know I have adrenal fatigue I can justify spending the money.
I am so bored tonight. ha - RUMPH!I wonder if I"ll ever go out on a date again? Oh, here's great news, just found out I"m basically spending Christmas ALONE until about 4 or 5 pm.....isn't that great.
I truly can't take this any more.......I know it sounds really stupid, but I could use lots of prayers over this. *sniff*
from Bridget Jones:
AT Christmas little children sing and merry bells jingle.
The cold winter air makes our hands and faces tingle.
And happy families go to church adn cheerily they mingle,
And the whole business is unbelievably dreadful if you're single.
BAH. I guess my bad winter mood started today.
don't worry, it'll be over on exactly January SECOND.
More from Bridget Jones throughout the next six weeks, sorry.
WHAT??? There was an Evie sighting???? oh praise God....that is good news! Where is she???
Yes, I saw Evie online a bit ago (or someone impersonating Evie), but she didn't post.
Re the single thing...I gave up on the whole thing a while ago. Seems like all the men in my age group are really OLD, and the ones I have the most in common with are at least 10 years younger...so I just gave up, lol.
-
Yep, I have it. Have had it over a year now--had it before I went gluten/casein free and still have it after being gluten/casein free nearly a year. I describe it as feeling as if my brain is floating. In my case it definitely seems related to blood pressure at least some of the time...I have very low blood pressure and I've tried to take it when I'm having a particularly "dizzy" day...my blood pressure is always lower than normal. I already eat tons of salt, so that doesn't help in my case. I've just started seeing some new doctors so I'm hoping they can help. I've had CT scans, blood tests, inner ear function tests, hearing tests, eye exams, you name it, lol.
-
Evie, I see you!!!! Are you okay!? How are you?
-
Donna, I also love your picture. It makes me feel like I know you because it just seems to be such a "real" picture of who you are. Ok, tooth girl---I had another filling come out during the night. This is now three in the past week. What the heck? I don't know if I posted this earlier, but my mom wondered if because of my malnutrition/dehydration recently, that my teeth are just shrinking just enough and then its releasing it bc it isn't fitting anymore.
Ha, I like "Tooth Girl", lol. Donna =
Hum, not sure what to say about the fillings falling out...I think the dentist I'm seeing now said the fillings expand, so not sure what's going on in your case. I would think the malnutrition would affect the whole tooth, but I just don't know. Maybe I'll ask my dentist on Wednesday if you haven't found any info by then.
Yes, my directions said to eat no more than one a day, and never alone. My mineral levels indicated too much sugar. Sugar is bad for adrenal fatigue.Thank you so much! I still haven't finished reading my book yet, and I think I'm going to go look for the one you had originally. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on books and such until I knew for sure I had it, lol. I cut down the fruit to only one today, so am off to a good start.
-
I'm going the saliva testing this month too for hormones. I'm getting used to the drool.
Yep, this was fun, lol. Surprisingly didn't have as much drool as I thought I did.
-
Donna- Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE your avatar. You look so happy!
Thank you! That was taken in March of this year at a fitness convention...I met up with a group of ladies I met online at a fitness website (we'd met before) and we asked some guy who was passing by to take our picture...just as he was ready to snap the picture he YELLED out "SAY SEX", which just really struck me funny...cuz, well, he just didn't look like the type. So that's why Donna =

No mojo here.

Wow, Armetta, glad you were able to get it taken care of so quickly!!!
-
I bought the Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type book, and I'm using its guidelines for my elimination diet. I managed to stick to it one whole day so far.
I'm finding it was MUCH easier to stick to than I thought it would be...I was eating MASSES of candy bars up to the day before I started it, and thought for sure I would struggle with cravings, but so far haven't. I've been hungrier than normal though even though I am eating plenty of calories (almost 2000 each day). I'm on day 12!

Hey--we need to get Alton Brown to do a show about gluten-free baking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely!!!
-
Could we at least invite Alton Brown - just to hang out in the kitchen and and offer goofy scientificness about okra? I swear he and I were seperated at birth (probably a good thing)
Yes, Alton Brown is a must!
I definitely need the Rachelville cliff notes too. And I have done the spreadsheet to keep track of all my supplements, but luckily, as my gut is healing, and I don't need as many....
He said he could do this treatment called Bioset and see if that would help with getting me back to eating more foods. Rachel sees someone who uses this kind of treatment, so I thought I'd mention it here. Has anyone tried it and had positive results? Dr. F said that it's about 60% effective. He said that sometimes he can clear most food allergies except for maybe one or two deep seated ones. Gluten seemed to be the first one I was diagnosed with, but at the time I never completely cut it out. So, I'd be over the moon if that was the only thing I couldn't eat!! He explained to me that the Bioset clears the antibodies to the foods out. He said after he does the treatment that I won't be able to eat the offending food for A WEEK
. Piece of cake, I said!! He said I would be a good candidate as my stool test showed that my digestive enzymes were normal and I didn't have any markers of intestinal inflammation. The only negative thing about the Bioset treatment, he said, is the money. He does 8 to 15 acupuncture sessions as the treatment. It sounds pretty easy to me, so I'm signing up.
Yep, they said I wouldn't always have to take this many, lol. So far I think RAchel is the only one who has done the actual BioSET, but I think a couple of others have done something similar. I'm getting ready to get this done...haven't called yet, but I would be very interested to see what that test would come up with.
-
Thank you! I so appreciate the responses. I'm going to hold off a bit, because I'm now being tested for Eosinophilic Esophagitis, and I very well may have to have allergy testing done, again. I've been tested for environmental stuff several times, but not food.
This is so much fun. (note my sarcasm)
Yep, fun, lol. I was tested for environmental allergies just over a year ago, and food allergies in the last couple of months...the food allergy test (skin scratch) showed a reaction only to oats. Which means I have to do it the hard way, lol.

For the first week you can eat anything that's not on the list above. Fruits, veggies, brown rice, chicken, fish and turkey. This entire diet is supplemented by a protein "shake" which I just mix with orange juice. AFter much experimentation, there's no way for it to NOT taste like crap.
Sounds like the one I got from my doctor, lol. It is called UltraClear. Yuck, lol. Today I got it a little more tolerable by using only 1 scoop with a little frozen mango, ice cubes, almond butter and stevia, and whirling it up in my magic bullet, lol. Otherwise it's pretty yucky tasting.

Well, I had an appointment with the nutritionist last night, who went over the results of my saliva test. I am definitely adrenal fatigued, lol. (sorry guys...hormone talk coming) My progesterone level was REALLY low, as was my DHEA. My melatonin level was also low. I'll be taking a bunch of supplements to bring up those levels.
I'm going to adjust the elimination diet just a bit for a little less fruit. Carla, did you say you can only eat 1 or 2 fruits per day? That was for the adrenals wasn't it? My doctor didn't say anything about adjusting the diet except to say that I shouldn't eat more than 1/2 a fruit at a time and never eat it alone.
I have a schedule for my supplements, lol.
I am going to type up a spreadsheet now to keep track of it all.
Omg...i Might Be On To Something

Ah, they based the supplements for me on the results of the saliva test, but what I'm taking sounds similar to what you're taking...an adrenal support (lots of things in it), calc (also with lots of stuff in it), progesterone, DHEA, pregnenelone, melatonin and D-aromatase which is on order so don't have it yet. No thyroid though...I'll have to ask them about that.
