  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURA!!!!!

    HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!!!

    That is exactly what that was! Carla did not rachel that doughnut! One doughnut is actually doctor's orders for Rachel!

    Carla is way too good at Carla-ing. I could never do that!

    Yes, apparently Carla is the expert on carla-ing. :P

    I don't think he's saying protein is bad for lyme......just high protein diet.

    Haven't read the article yet...maybe later...did he say now much is "high"? :P

    Nothing will ever make ME more sick than celiac. Choosing betw that experience and (edit: hypothetically) being a burn victim that requires 6mo hosp stay incl grafts, pain of peeling off skin to replace etc and in the blink of an eye I say Burn Baby Burn.

    Requiring a one year stay might get iffy.

    :o So, how strongly DO you believe that nothing will make you more sick that celiac? :lol:

    I can't feel your pain.

    Even this is funny to me. :P:lol:

    Mercury is in alot of stuff....a HUGE list of stuff....normal household items. Its also in the air we breathe....so yeah....no way around the exposure and if detoxification becomes a problem...so do the heavy metals. :(

    Hehe.....not today.

    I think some hair dyes haev it too. :( Don't know for sure, but think I read that on a thread at LN.

    Oh yeah....my mom thinks I'm stupid too.

    OMGosh, the suspense is killing. It didn't involve a yam and the most amusing aftermath did it?! Nope, sounds like whatever is being planned for next weekend...must involve something else. :P

    I found out Amy's new patient waiting list has gotten really long.

    She cant see any new patients unless she extends her visits....and even then...she still wont be able to fit everyone in....and the list continues to grow.

    Andrea....does she have many openings over there in WA...or is she pretty much booked up there as well??

    :( I wonder if I got on the list... I never heard a confirmation from Amy (receptionist) so I don't know for sure if I'm even on it. Not the end of the world though, so far I'm happy with Scott but it would be interesting to have at least one session with Dr. Amy too.

    Magnesium citrate is like Liquid Plumber.....Holy Sh*&! Warning: If you consume this product and think you have to fart, RUN, do not walk, to your nearest water closet because that is not an incoming fart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    :lol: !!!! Or outgoing fart as it were. :P

  2. Bev does the funnest things. :P

    Think she'll answer if I only give her my 2 cents worth?

    Maybe. :P

    Thanks for the info on symptoms...since I have a problem with all three, it's helpful for me to see what might be what. Pretty sure that what I have right now is a lyme thing then.

    Remember a couple of months ago when I sprayed the mold in my bathroom and got so sick...that happened pretty quickly!

    Very interesting.

  3. Hey

    Remember all that talk of cookies yesterday? I bought some jeannies macroon cookies in a can. Should I have one, just one or even half of one? Please someone say yes!

    NO, don't do it!! :P I resisted buying a brownie today....resist, resist, resist.

    FakeAnthony would actually accept a SuffragentSpice moniker, but that's him, he's quirky that way.

    I kind of like FakeAnthony SuffragentSpice.... :lol: But, either one would do it for me. :lol: I bestow on you either one of those names!

    Does anyone go through times when they are hungrier than normal?

    YES!!!! Heinous!

    Oh...Andrea....I totally broke my New Years Resolution today!!!!! :o

    OMG....shoot me now!! I was doing soooooo good. <insert rows and rows of head banging emoticons here> :rolleyes:

    Ooooh, sounds interesting! Worthy of confession even. :P

  4. I still say it's destined to become a myth or fable. Future celiacs will say their cousin's teacher's daughter's friend knew someone (who was a friend of hers from choir) who SWORE she'd cyber-met this woman who could make a gluten-free donut last 3 wks!!

    <"she swore it was true">

    :lol: !!!!

    SCATOLOGY ALERT - - - Last night I ate some of my faves - the Trader Joe's soy flax seed chips - - OMG - - - BIG PERNICIOUS GAS BOMB TODAY - - all day - - - the farts will not come out - - - - so I'm just carrying the bomb around with me all day. :huh: not so much fun.....constipated also......must go lay on side to see if things can be worked around in there. Back hurting again....ouch.....must recline.

    Tom (and Donna, and really EVERYONE!) needs a BOBO!!!!!!!!!!! :D

    :lol: !!!! Sorry to laugh at your misery, I think I WOULDN'T or COULDN'T had I not been there myself. :lol:

    I have a bobo!! I have my sound machine! (not Miami) I think I was not meant to sleep. :P

    Actually, I racheled that donut ... doctor told me no sugar and I ate it anyway. :P

    Hum, nope, I don't think that qualifies as racheling...racheling involves massive quantities in a short amount of time...carlaing involves miniscule quantities over a longer period of time (or if your name is Rachel, following doctor's orders).

  5. Same for me...I did an elimination diet back in November...couldn't ever get to the point where I could add food back in because I was "reacting" the entire time on the base diet. Turns out I have a problem with chicken and lamb. I have no problems whatsoever with beef though. Turkey is okay and so is pork for me.

    I am going to try the Kosher chicken Patti talked about. I had been buying Rocky chicken from Whole Foods, and that is what I was reacting to. I know of two highly sensitive people now who have said they did well on kosher chicken but not rocky chicken.

  6. Hum, I don't need pain pills to go to my happy place apparently, :lol: Actually give me one drink and I get pretty goofy...sick as a dog, but goofy. :P:blink:

    No I did not get to vote. But I will vote for you being able to vote.

    Pretty good job on the quoting...but you still do not get to vote. :lol: Carla is right...vote amongst yourselves, but it carries no weight. :P

    I am having something truly strange happen and wonder if any of you have had anything like this experience.

    The peripheral vision in my right eye is like a ferris wheel of light though I'm only seeing half of the wheel. :unsure: Before it started happening I felt almost as if I was going to faint.

    Oooh, maybe bad bugs indeed. I have been reading of similar things (although don't remember the fainting thing) on lymnet. Do you get migraines? Sounds a bit like an ocular type of migraine.

    Any good lab practitioner knows, in far more detail than the end-user of the results needs to know, all the ins&outs, limitations, possible sources of deceptive results (equipment precision, humidity variation, material purity/variability etc), and just about all other possible circumstances (& combinations thereof) that can cause the signal/noise aspect of the results to force admission of a "heck *I* can't really say" result.

    Yep, which is what happened on my biopsies for my bile ducts last year...three labs on two different biopsies couldn't decide if it was PREcancer or not. Sheesh. :lol:

    It's pretty quiet around here. The slow falling asleep isn't new.

    Yep, see I usually fall asleep fairly quickly, but I wake up at 12, 1, 2 and 3. On a workday if I wake up at 3 there is no hope of falling back to sleep...weekends it's about a 50/50 thing. Ocassionally, I can't fall asleep right away, THEN still wake up at 12, 1, 2 and 3. :P

  7. I think I may be finally understanding the difference between a flare and a herx...I think I'm going through a flare. Over the last week a couple of my symptoms have been slowly steadily getting worse. The disconnected feeling in my brain and the skin burning. Yesterday and today being the worst...this morning the water from the shower hitting my skin was torture. It started getting bad yesterday when my hair touching my next was causing much pain. Uggg! I don't think this is a herx cuz these symptoms don't seem herxish and it seems to me herxes might come on a little quicker.

    Oh and Tom...uh YEAH, I definitely understand about the sleep issue!!! I am the QUEEN of insomnia, lol. :lol:

    And, NO, NO, NO, there is NO auxigrow in Rachelville!!! I am the head of security and ain't none of that stuff getting past me....Rachelville is an ant, tick and auxigrow free zone (oh and gluten free as well). No one in their right mind would try to get past me with any of that stuff! :lol:

    Oh, and can someone explain to me how anyone thinks there is more than two bites to a donut anyway. :lol: How is that possible?

    RACHELVILLE AUXIGRO TRIAL

    Very funny, but see my comment above. :lol:

    No, he gets no vote either. You guys are here for our entertainment.

    :lol:

    Umm, I believe it took me three weeks to eat that donut. The next week I split the remainder in half .... it was a gluten-free donut btw.

    :o

    I dont know whether or not oil of oregano will be helpful to you. You react to alot of things so I cant even begin to guess as to what you'll feel like taking oil of oregano. I know that for me it didnt help but made things worse. I dont really do well with alot of herbal supplements.

    Yep, oil of oregano was not a good thing for me either! :(

    So it has been long week for alot of reasons. I had a hard time i think my body is still trying to (and not very succesfully) recover from the hormones and diflucan. I'll start off with the positive though I went to my 3 sessions with this new guy, the physical therapist. He is fascinating!!! He really does combine so many different methods and is so intune with the body and what it needs. I really like him. He spoke to my doctor and we all agree it is sowrth me continuing with him for ahile. He acknowledges what a hard case I am though but he does think he can help me and I think he can to.

    Part of this week that was so bad was the bathroom I had alot of trouble mostly C issues and I noticed some disturbing stuff in my stool the other day which I reported to my doc. He thinks becasue of that it might be good idea to see this gastro doc (I hate gastros though). I am alittle hesitant becasue I really want to see this other guy first the one who deals with metals and lyme. I am not sure what to do. I was supposed to call the gastro yesturday but I decided to put it off until Monday so i have alittle time to think about it.

    Aw Mia, I just wish all this stuff would go away! I like the sound of your PT guy!!! I don't know what you should do first, but as I was looking at everyone's lyme results (still need to find Rinne's original post, lol) yours was shocking to me...I guess I don't remember it having so many positive bands. A good LLMD will also do some of this other stuff and mine at least is also interested in all the other practitioners I'm seeing.

    I asked my father if he thought when i was better I sould be able to eat jars of almond butter in one sitting- he was like "would you really want to do that?"

    Silly father! He doesn't know us very well does he. :P:lol:

  8. 2 1/2 in total I think, but wasn't posting at the get-go.

    Indy500 talk was about the only thing I understood!!

    1st post that I remember was that chronology was an -ology not defined as "the study of". Mighta been Murph still.

    Now I rachel the threads like a madman!!!!

    :lol: Yes, rachelling of the threads is a good thing though!

    And picked up the lingo quite quickly, I must say :lol:

    Indeed!

    AWWWW! That Yorkie puppy is so adorable! I had to copy and save that one! My mother would love that picture!

    Dart looked like a little badger when we brought him home. He had this black stripe across his eyes like a raccoon!

    Yeah, I thought you'd like it...lower down on the page is a really cute pic of a white dog with sunglasses on. :P And further down than that is a chihuahua in a life jacket. :lol:

    Oh my God, the pain. They say to take a half teaspoon and I took a tablespoon. Hope I live through this it hurts so bad, and going every 3 minutes. HELP

    OH MY!!! Do NOT Rachel the magnesium!!! Yikes! Hope the pain passes quickly, but you may be running for a while.

    But I ain't bringin' 'em up agin, no ma'am.

    And deprive us of some fun!? Harumphf! :lol:

  9. The baby theory is very interesting. Here all this time I just thought I was getting FAT from my wifes cooking, or maybe the pants were just shrinking in the was. But this may explain some or most of the discomfort, and cravings I have, :rolleyes:

    :lol: Well, I've never fished, but I like boats, so I'll go too!

    And, about the multiple quoting thing...when you read a post you want to respond to, look towards the bottom of that particular post...off to the right there is a "reply" and a "quote" button...hit the quote button then go on reading...if you see another post you want to respond to hit the "quote" button on that post. When you have read and hit quote for all the posts you want to reply to, hit "add reply"...all of the stuff you hit the "quote" button for will show in the window. Each separate post will have quote tags around it which look like this:

    [ quote ]text[ /quote ]

    but without the spaces between the brackets and text. Leave those in, but delete out any text from the message you don't want, then type your response right below it.

    Sorry, that's probably clear as mud!

    If you want to do just one reply to one post at a time, instead of the quote button hit reply right below the post you are reading...that will quote the whole post and then you can reply below it.

  10. You are going to rachel Bumble Bars!? Do you remember what happened last time? Be careful! Racheling foods is not a good idea. I am proud to say I have done better about that lately.

    Thank you for the information on the sound machine. I was surpised. I expected that thing to be more expensive. It was priced fairly low. Maybe I could get one sometime!

    It would be great if you got the chance to put some snippets up. We would all enjoy that. Those who were not here then could get some good laughs, too! They missed out on some of that! It is hard to believe that was six months or more ago!

    No, no, not intending to Rachel Bumble Bars YET...that was something Bev mentioned as possible things to do when we get "well". :lol: Although, I DO look at them every time I open that cabinet. :P

    I ran out of energy for the snippets thing today...everytime I get started someone brings me work.

    ~~~
    I have decided I will relax the rest of the day. I think it's time for an Epsom salt bubble bath soak this evening...toes need one more coat of metallic watermelon pink, then into the tub to soak, then I shall don one of my new pairs of slipper--purple or lime...that is the question. :lol:
  11. They are trying SOOOOO hard to make me work at work today...harumpf!!!! I am having no part in it!
    I can just see myself driving up there half asleep. According to mapquest it's almost 2 1/2 hours from here. Taking traffic into account I'll give it 3, course you guys are used to traffic arent' you?
    I will definately have to abdicate the computer to hubby and go to bed early that night. Right now I've talked to his boss about having that day off. Mom's on vacation till the 24th so I don't know if she's able to watch the other two yet or not. I'd like Mitch to be able to see how this goes too.
    Did I mention that it's an ART appointment? Dr. Elizabeth is Dr. Amy's partner.
    You didn't, but somehow that's what I thought it was...I am so excited! Yeah, used to flippin traffic...had two bad drivers this morning...how can you have traffic at 5:30 in the morning when there's no cars on the road. :lol:
    Ok...this is "Scientific Spice"....reporting to the SpiceShip....launch time will be at appoximately 4:00 pm.
    I will reach final destination and disembark the Spiceship at approximately 4:05 p.m.
    Yup...I'm thinking the alien baby was quite active during that time. Perhaps thats when the alien baby was first discovered on ultrasound??
    Yep, that was around the time...very fitting for your spiceship!
    Um, Siough-zee feels MUCH MUCH better already. ;)
    :P So glad. :P
    I did call it community-defined and I don't know if my whoop-dee-doo 2week tenure even qualifies me to vote!
    Have you only been here for two weeks! :lol:
  12. Yes, Whole Approach is a good site! Theoretically, you would not have to eat strictly for life with candida, but you definitely have to give it a good LONG course. And, in my opinion it is best to limit simple sugars regardless of a candida issue anyway.
    Talking with your doctor is probably a good idea, though many don't "believe" in candida. Fortunately all my doctors do. There are tests that can be run...not sure which is considered the best though.
  13. Well, I've been back on my meds for three days and feel FINE. I haven't started the Plaquenil yet ... I wonder if that's the culprit? If so, I'll have to deal with it.
    Yay!
    Ok, I made an appointment with Dr. Elizabeth for Talitha at the end of the month. We have to leave the house by 6:30 and we don't usually get up until 7:30-8:00. :ph34r:
    Can't wait to hear about it. Um, I can call you...I get up at 4:20! :P Heck by 7:30 I've eaten two times already. :lol:
  14. Ok, it's certainly a community-defined term, and there's a rough consensus so far (besides me of course :P ).
    I still say the origination of "carla'ing" was such an example of EXTREME restraint, that applying it to cases of restraint which, tho admirable, just aren't on par w/ not just stopping at one bite per sitting or per day. ONE BITE PER WEEK is ridiculous to the point it may someday become myth or fable!! (With only OMG regulars knowing it's a true tale)
    In that situation, for me it'd be as likely as jumping over the Grand Canyon.
    (0 bites I can do!)
    [/end rant]
    Okay, but there are SOME people on this thread who shall remain nameless (okay Rachel and myself) who cannot exercise ANY restraint, so therefore we MUST adapt carla-ing to fit what small hint of quasi restraint may exist. :lol: (Not sure I understood what I just wrote) :lol:
  15. Ain't that the truth. It took me quite awhile to learn to resist - it was more the physical "do" for me. But also some eating for a test. Finally realized that the more often I do tests, the more often they fail.
    And maybe there's more to the cumulative effect of more consecutive 'better' days than meets the eye.
    I think there's just something hard-wired in the brain to try to take advantage of feeling better. (Bah not as well-said as I thought it'd come out) :huh:
    Pretty well said to me. :P
    Surprised not a single post re: my thoughts on refining a distinct, narrow definition to 'carla-ing'.
    I thought carlaing was anything that wasn't racheling. :P:lol:
  16. AND part 3 :lol:
    Hehe....the alien baby is gonna be history....just you wait and see.
    Sorry I can't help relocate the alien baby for ya! :lol:
    Hey wait a second wasn't the 1st U.S. manned spaceflight on Mercury One?
    Oooohhh, very good!
    Name the spaceship Freddy. UUMmm alien. So the alien and gonna be history?I don't get it but I'M scared whatever that means. We have aliens in us TOO! I KNEW IT. That's what Carla ment when she said that she would be surprised if I only had mercury.
    :lol: One of the things I kept coming across yesterday in my searing was the alien baby. :lol: Hopefully I'll have time to do snippets this morning... :)
    I know I couldn't do it. At a minimum I'd go all Adrian Monk and try to "even it out". There's no symmetry in 3/4.
    :lol: I can be a bit monkish myself. :P
    I think, either in this thread or start another, we should all make a list of the top 10 things we want to do when we feel better (even if it's as small as racheling all the Bumble Bars, peanut butter, martinis or (gasp) cute waiters
    ...
    I've got #1 secretly planned for October because I turn 40 in November. I want to be well enough by October to go to Ireland for my 40th birthday.
    Oh I loved Ireland!!! Would go back there in a second...I was only there for part of 1 day (on a cruise), but loved that and Scotland so much!
    Oh, and I have 5 Bumble Bars in my cabinet waiting for said racheling. :lol:
    Rachel! How about "The Spiceship" !
    :lol:
  17. And part 2.....
    I posted mine on page 977... here are my results:
    Oh thank you!! Yours was actually one of the easier to find, lol!! But I thank you for reposting!!!
    the balance symptoms I had upon starting the ABX went away after the first week... but it's been a little rough at times the past 2 weeks with headaches, getting more easily exhausted, and increased brain fog...
    I've stripped my diet back down to the basics for a few days, cutting out my "treat" foods like potato chips and tomato sauce... whenever I feel really off for more than a day, I tend to go down to a very basic diet of strictly meats and veggies and then wait to feel decent and lucid for at least a day or 2... I was probably eating too many potato chips anyway, which could have exacerbated any candida symptoms, especially considering the effect that antibiotics also have on candida overgrowth...
    I did have my best day of the week today so I think I'm slowly coming out of whatever funk I was in... and I have an appt in 2 weeks with my llmd which will be my 1 month appt on the ABX...
    Glad to hear you are feeling better!!! I need to go back to basics too...decided last night after I racheled some cashews (after racheling some other things which I refuse to mention)...so tomorrow I grocery shop, then strick for a week.
    Bloody hot here, Rachel would love it.......who needs a sauna? MISERABLE!!!! (yes, she needs a name for that space contraption.....hmmmmmm .......will ponder.....)
    night'night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Can't wait to see the new 'do. Yes, darned hot yesterday!!!
    Rachel, Thanks for the suggestion to e-mail Scott, the better health guy. He e-mailed me back tonight and confirmed that the ART person who I found in town is really good. Wow, that was quick! I'll be calling her as soon as my brain-fogged mind can remember! I feel so much better having a reference!
    Donna and Susan ~ I'll be contacting you when I get closer to coming to San Jose and Monterey. I've been to Nepente's too, but always too late to check out the store. I thought the redwoods were waaaay cooler! We found a hollowed out one to do chants in ~ it was a spiritual experience
    I haven't been to the redwoods since I was a little girls...we used to do fun things like that regularly. :( I am so very happy you have a good ART practitioner in your area!!! It really is a VERY interesting process!
    Oh yeah...Scott is really good about getting back to people. He's always quick to respond.
    Very good!
  18. What is that machine called again? I keep wanting to call it a sound purifier. That does not sound right, though. I would not mind having one. The noise bothers me. I do not sleep well because of the phone ringing and other things some days.
    Here is the machine I bought...I wish it were slightly more adjustable in tone, but I'm used to it now:
    Open Original Shared Link
    You guys are not senior citizens! Youth is not a number! Youth is in the soul! All of your souls are vibrant! Remember that!
    Well SOMETHING is vibrant...not sure it's my soul. :lol: Lime green toenails... oh, wait, they're metallic watermelon right now. :P
    Oh no...putting Spice names under avatars (how in heck am I going to in-bare-ass myself by putting Farts Like Machine Gun Spice under my wedding picture? I made a very BIG effort that day NOT to fart!)
    Well, you could shorten it to Machine Gun Spice.... :P
    My youngest son ( 17 ) and I have been trying to get this boat done so we can all go fishing. But because of all my medical problems it has been a very slow process. We actually started on it last summer and are still not done. But we are getting close and hope to have it in the water in the next couple week. My wife has been saying maybe we should get some one else to help with it. But it has been such a close bonding thing for the 2 of us I just don't want to go there. We are real close any way, but we started it and I just feel like we should finish it. But hey maybe it is more for my benefit then it is his. Either way we have been having fun doing it and will have even more fun when we get to go fishing in it. Ok I am done rambling now and boring you all to death probably but just had to brag on him,
    Grump, that is wonderful!!! Definitely NOT boring!
    Donna--If it's not too late, good luck!
    Thanks...lucked out...they cancelled practice. :P
    I'm feeling rather flat today which is no doubt related to my general misbehavior, my problem is I start feeling well enough that I am willing to suffer a little.
    :ph34r: I think this is one of my problems too...when I feel really good, I start to think I can do anything or eat anything.
    Donna...got my results right here..
    Oh thank you! :lol:
    Donna...sorry for sending you on a wild goose chase but at least you got some good laughs out of it.
    Yes indeed...not to worry...got to read posts from some of our old friends.
    Guess I gotta hit F5 to see Tom's villi :rolleyes: ....right now I'm looking at saxy Tom....only he's not looking so saxy
    :lol:
