Rachel--24

Omg...i Might Be On To Something

Recommended Posts

I was looking at some of the therapies they do and I must say I'm not comfortable with a lot of them, the ones that deal with the psyche.

Yeah....thats why I was saying that different practitioners have different ways of going about treatment.

I'm pretty sure Dr. Elizabeth and Dr. Amy have training in different areas. They both have the ART training and other training from Klinghardt but I think they also have different skills.

I dont think Dr. Amy practices some of the things that are on Dr. Elizabeths page. They have different titles...Amy is ND....Elizabeth is DC, CCN.

Its kind of like how in the clinic where Dr. S. practices....there are 4 LLMDS in that office....they dont all have the same treatment methods.

Dr. S. is least likely to use aggressive ABX treatment unless absolutely necessary....other Dr.'s in the same practice are very aggressive with antibiotics. So basically you're choosing what type of treatment you prefer when you choose your Dr.

Even though Amy and Elizabeth are in the same clinic...they are different Dr.'s.

You can see the differences in training and skills here:

Dr. Amy Derksen, ND, graduated from Western Washington University with a BS in Biochemistry and earned her Docorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in 2003. She has since completed a two year apprenticeship with Dietrich Klinghardt, MD PhD, where she developed her skills in neural therapy, as well as gained extensive training in heavy metal detox and treatment of Lyme disease and neurological disorders, including autism.

Dr. Elizabeth Hesse Sheehan, DC, CCN, graduated from Eastern Washington University with a BS in Human Biology and is a cum laude graduate of Life Chiropractic College West, where she won the school's prestigious Clinical Citation of Excellence Award. She is one of five board certified clinical nutritionists in Washington State. Dr. Elizabeth has become a specialist in a wide variety of holistic techniques, including the teachings of Dietrich Klinghardt, MD PhD. She has been in practice since 2000, combining numerous chiropractic techniques and natural medicine techniques specifically designed for the individual.

So thats why I'm saying if you're not comfortable with her treatment methods you can always see someone else. I personally dont know much about her healing methods (except for what little bit that Amy told me). It could be similar to what I'm used to....or it could be way different...I dont know.

I think if you're going to spend the money you should see someone you want to continue treatment with....or else theres not much point in it.

I dont know if all food intolerances would show up accurately in one session...it depends on what other issues may be more prevelant at the time. ART works in layers so not everything is revealed in one session. Only the more "stressing" issues will show up first...then as those issues are dealt with...the other issues present themselves.

No doubt that when I get the mercury and candida issue calmed down....other infections or parasites will show up....just like the Lyme will show up alot stronger than it has so far. There are things I dont even know about yet that will show up.

I dont know if food intolerances can also hide behind other stressors....but I'm thinking they could. It just depends on how many stressors shes got.

Anyways,,, has anyone had this happen as in randomly having a super long spotty or irregular period, I know its kind of off topic, but PM me or write here if you want.

My friend did. It was from polyps. Seen on ultrasound. Surgically removed. No more problems.

Holy Cow...I need to look for that Dr....and THEN I'll be following Dr.'s orders for sure!!! :P

One donut per day....Dr's orders.

Of course I would have to rachel my treatment! B)

This is a town run by women, do you think logic has any place here??? ;)

Yup yup...a town run by women plagued with brain-fog (and other ailments).....there is NO LOGIC here. :P

But we are smart enough to know that you TOM....cannot vote. :P

So occassionally we are logical in our thinking.

The eye thing seems to be clearing up. Truly bizarre. For a while I thought it was just the light hitting the keyboard but when I got up I realized it was me.

Phew...glad it cleared up. You had me worried with the feeling faint part. Bad bugs.

I'm pretty sure IND is short for Indeterminate.

It's pretty common lab jargon, in my experience.

Yes....this we DO know for sure. Many things are in question re: the IND's....but the fact that they mean Indeterminate is not one of them. :P

Now....if you can tell us exactly WHY the lab tech chooses to go with IND....rather than neg. or pos....we would be most grateful. :D

Hey dingogirl that avatar you have are you crying with that glass of wine

or are you really just very very constipated? :D

Because Magnesium Citrate can clear that right up for you.:)

ROFLMAO!!!

:lol::lol::lol:

and NO susan...you should not try the magnesium citrate for weight loss!!! :P

I still say it's destined to become a myth or fable. Future celiacs will say their cousin's teacher's daughter's friend knew someone (who was a friend of hers from choir) who SWORE she'd cyber-met this woman who could make a gluten-free donut last 3 wks!!:lol::lol:

<"she swore it was true">

:lol::lol:

Agreed!!! Carlas Carla'ing will be Celiac Folklore for many future generations to ponder...much in the same way we're doing now.

. the room must be very cool and dark, with a huge amount of whooshing air and white noise. If someone came into kill me, I would not know, nor would I care.

Tom (and Donna, and really EVERYONE!) needs a BOBO!!!!!!!!!!! :D

My BOBO is my electric blanket. :D

My mom seems to think that just because its warming up outside I should not continue to use my BOBO at night!!

Wha????

I still need my BOBO.

What w/ the 'heavy' in heavy-metal and all.

Yeah...what IS that all about??

Sheeesh am I losing my mind again? I thought u both were in Phrez-gno!

Me?? Phrez-gno??

Nope...I'm in 2 places but neither of them is is Phrez-gno. ;)

So the "gardening" today only consisted of mowing the lawn, some watering, and 10 minutes of weed-pulling, nothing more, friends.

I'll be out there tomorrow...doing the "gardening"....getting all cut up and sweaty. :)

Hopefully I'll be pulling weeds longer than 10 minutes...the weeds are OUT OF CONTROL.

Stupid weeds.

I wish I had some weed eating pigs....but yeah...they probably wouldnt go for this type of weed.

Grump.....HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!! :D

Lisa Marie....

I gotta find out exactly what I pay for my ART....then I'll PM you the info. I left my receipt at my moms house.

I pay a little extra because the Dr. is coming from Washington to see us. We (the patients) pay for her airfare and accomodations for the 3 days shes here. Its not much because its divided amongst all the patients....but then I also got 2 new supplements. The OxyPowder is expensive. Everything was on one bill.

I dont recall how much the appt. by itself was. I'll let you know on Monday though. :)

I found out Amy's new patient waiting list has gotten really long. :(

She cant see any new patients unless she extends her visits....and even then...she still wont be able to fit everyone in....and the list continues to grow. :(

Andrea....does she have many openings over there in WA...or is she pretty much booked up there as well??

First and foremost--HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURA!!!!!!!!! :D

Does anyone go through times when they are hungrier than normal?

Yes--like most of the time!

When I tumbled outta bed this morning the very first thing I did was take a ride in the Spiceship!! :D

WOO-HOO....I would love to start every day like that!!

Sounds like a great way to start the day :)

I actually had a DAY today-

So good to hear! Susie checked in yesterday--post Percoset. She's doing fine ;)

today was the first part of my birthday celebration...parents came over, we went to dinner (Bev-at AG), came back here, had gluten-free cake and ice cream (cake made by mom, of course), and opened presents. it was absolutely wonderful ....

night and love to all!

I'm glad it was so nice--your mom is the bestest! :D

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL OUR DADS!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURA!!!!!

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!!!

That is exactly what that was! Carla did not rachel that doughnut! One doughnut is actually doctor's orders for Rachel!

Carla is way too good at Carla-ing. I could never do that!

Yes, apparently Carla is the expert on carla-ing. :P

I don't think he's saying protein is bad for lyme......just high protein diet.

Haven't read the article yet...maybe later...did he say now much is "high"? :P

Nothing will ever make ME more sick than celiac. Choosing betw that experience and (edit: hypothetically) being a burn victim that requires 6mo hosp stay incl grafts, pain of peeling off skin to replace etc and in the blink of an eye I say Burn Baby Burn.

Requiring a one year stay might get iffy.

:o So, how strongly DO you believe that nothing will make you more sick that celiac?

I can't feel your pain.

Even this is funny to me. :P:lol:

Mercury is in alot of stuff....a HUGE list of stuff....normal household items. Its also in the air we breathe....so yeah....no way around the exposure and if detoxification becomes a problem...so do the heavy metals. :(

Hehe.....not today.

I think some hair dyes haev it too. :( Don't know for sure, but think I read that on a thread at LN.

Oh yeah....my mom thinks I'm stupid too.

OMGosh, the suspense is killing. It didn't involve a yam and the most amusing aftermath did it?! Nope, sounds like whatever is being planned for next weekend...must involve something else. :P

I found out Amy's new patient waiting list has gotten really long.

She cant see any new patients unless she extends her visits....and even then...she still wont be able to fit everyone in....and the list continues to grow.

Andrea....does she have many openings over there in WA...or is she pretty much booked up there as well??

:( I wonder if I got on the list... I never heard a confirmation from Amy (receptionist) so I don't know for sure if I'm even on it. Not the end of the world though, so far I'm happy with Scott but it would be interesting to have at least one session with Dr. Amy too.

Good morning, everyone! I just wanted to drop in to say hi, and also Happy Birthday, Laura!

My younger brother is staying with me for the week (he's 13 (15 year age gap between us), so I'm trying to come up with interesting things for us to do), so I won't be on as much, but I'll make sure to keep checking in.

I'm still having some issues--the nausea and diarrhea came back on Thursday, but I was okay yesterday. I got set off after eating peanut butter, which I've never reacted to before. Who knows? Maybe it's a legume thing?...Isn't it frustrating when a "safe" food sets you off?!?!?

I hope you all have great days and are feeling as well as possible!

Now....if you can tell us exactly WHY the lab tech chooses to go with IND....rather than neg. or pos....we would be most grateful. :D

Cuz the test provided no suitable amount of reliable information?

Going back to the 'marble in a box' & not knowing what color it is. Narrowing it down to "it can only be black or white" still doesn't make a correct guess any more likely than flipping a coin.

I know nothing of the actual test we're talking about, but I do know science's methodology, experimental theory and have spent a lot of time in labs.

There always are things about any test or experiment that aren't as good as you'd like.

Gotta use the results that u can prove are accurate & reliable and accept that it's too risky to try to glean more.

Yes - I'll add my

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURA!!!!!

too!!

Laura,

I don't think u were visiting Rachelville much when I 1st crossed town limits a couple weeks ago. I hope it wasn't from feeling too poorly to sit at the comp.

Bet the gluten-free cake was good!!!

I think if you're going to spend the money you should see someone you want to continue treatment with....or else theres not much point in it.

I figure if we aren't comfortable with the treatment she outlines then we can see Dr. Amy or just tell her we agree with such and such but not such and such and work from there. Anything with the physical body we are pretty open to so I'm thinking that should cover most if not all of what we need to deal with.

I have ART budgeted every three months for quiet a while. If we need chelation then I'll have an answer to whether we would go through our doctor with DMPS/DMSA or whether something else that is gentler would work.

I don't know whether intolerances would hide behind anything else. I suppose it's possible. Afterall, it seems other food intolerances hide behind gluten.

Andrea....does she have many openings over there in WA...or is she pretty much booked up there as well??

I didn't find out when her first opening was. Dr. Elizabeth was only two weeks out. I don't know whether Dr. Amy goes to the Spokane clinic at all or whether she visits other states that would take more time.

Maybe I'll call on Monday and find out. I can ask Dr. Elizabeth what therapies they both use. I assume any training from Klinghardt would be the same. He's where a lot of the psyche therapies came from as well. I believe the chiropractic part came from elsewhere.

Haven't read the article yet...maybe later...did he say now much is "high"? :P

Nope. That's what I'm curious about. I've always heard high protein was hard on the kidneys.

Dr. Elizabeth and maybe Dr. Amy use a program to create a diet for you based on your intolerances and whatnot. I am pretty interested in that.

 !!!! Or outgoing fart as it were. :P

You and Bev..... :lol::lol::lol:

I've got to add that I'm excited about seeing Dr. Elizabeth. You know she and Amy are both good just for the fact that they've trained so much with Klinghardt.

I've got to believe that they will work with us in what we are comfortable with, otherwise there would be no treatment. We do believe there is a lot of benefit from the alternative treatments, just not all of them.

Now we are wondering about the fluorescent light in T's room and whether we should be concerned about that. I know mercury is in them, but don't know whether it's a problem unless they are broken.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: THAT is funny!

Just popping in to say hello. I actually had a DAY today- we went to a local farmer's market and then played skee ball where I CRUSHED my huby with the all-time top score of 310! MOOO HOO AH HA HA. We have a huge skee ball/Go Kart rivalry. I won!

Of course, all this was folowed by a two hour nap

YAY! I've been having real days lately, too ... which is why I haven't had time to be on here. :)

Rachel- I'm glad the Spiceship is working out for you. I wish I could tolerate heat...maybe in the fall when it cools down here.

I can't take heat, but the sauna is okay. I am laying down and drink lots of water in the sauna. It doesn't bother me like outside. The first few times did, so when I started out, I would get in bed and rest afterward. It's really a great thing to do right before bedtime.

I have a gazillion supplements I have to take- taking them is practically a full-time job at this point! Milk thistle, CoQ10, multivitamin, Vitamin C (I cut out the salt for now), an Immune Booster and Super Cleanse and Omega 3 blah blah blah.......

Me, too. Full time job ... have to plan my day around it. It's quite a challenge when I have to leave the house!

Rinne- I start plaquenil on Wednesday. Should I be scared? What happened?

If I'm going after all three forms of borrelia at once, I feel worse. Before when I was starting amoxy, it was killing me. This time I started the Plaquenil last and it's killing me. I'm taking half doses of it right now.

I don't like when things sneak up on the family either. Micah had some chocolate chips last night and tummy troubles later. He seems to do ok with things with cocoa powder though. I guess we know chocolate is definately out for him.
