  1. Yep, I wondered about this myself...

    ARCHIVED Gi Doctor

IMO I wouldn't think it would be necessary to see the GI unless you'd like to do follow-up appointments/exams down the road.
  3. Sorry to continue the off-topic thing but I just had to agree with what Kimberly said. Her description is right on. They are wonderful, wonderful dogs, very intelligent, but definitely have a mind of their own, lol. I've owned two and both flunked two obedience courses (okay, I flunked, lol). I will someday get another for sure!
  4. I have one of her cookbooks, but not that one I don't think. I'll check to see if it's in the one I have and if not, maybe an excuse to buy another cookbook!
  5. I've been on two cruises so far, the last being in August of 2005...I didn't know I was Celiac at the time and in fact that cruise is what lead me to the discovery of Celiac...just love cruising and knowing I can eat well makes it so much better, lol.
  6. Thanks Tania, I'll see if I can find them!
  7. How wonderful!!!! I love cruising. Did you call ahead of time to arrange some of the pastas and things, or do they just have them on board?
  8. I really love the Tinkyada pastas I've tried but I've only seen lasagne, penne, spaghetti, fettucine, curls and elbow...I've not seen an egg-noodle type pasta from them. Do they make one, is there another brand that tastes good?
  9. Some of the things I buy regularly (these are all gluten/casein free): Tinkyada pastas Pacific Hazelnut milk Nut butters: they have a variety of different types of nut butters like hazelnut butter, cashew butter, etc.--some are pricey but I need to rotate my stuff, so it's worth it for me) Tropical Source candy bars Bumble Bars Bora Bora Bars Lara...

    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

Rachel, thanks for posting that link. I live in your area and am wanting to find someone who will work with me to try to find out WHY I feel badly, not just prescribe medications. I'm recovering from surgery right now, but I'm due for an annual exam in the next month or too, so may go to them instead of my regular MD. Thanks!
  11. Very timely thread! I've been having pains in the upper abdominal area for a few weeks now...thanks for all the information!
  12. Yes, a lady I work with has had it for years. About 4 months ago when I started researching celiac she told me two other people we work with have it as well.
  13. I don't have an official diagnosis, but I've put the pieces together from the Enterolab testing I had done in November and the positive response to diet. Looking back, the past few years (including this one) I did get sick around this time. Last year I was VERY sick from November to February or March. Interestingly, I had been eating a low carb diet for...
  14. Yes, I agree!!! I thought of another one while posting to the poll thread about personality...I am finding that I am in a lighter mood much more often than I was a few weeks ago. Now, that's something my friends can get behind, lol.
  15. I am so thrilled to see people experiencing some improvements, even if not major. I found another one yesterday...color in my cheeks! I haven't had color to my face in ages and yesterday (granted I had just cleaned the stove a bit before that, but still NOTHING has given me rosy cheeks--not even working out, lol) I noticed a little color in my cheeks...
  16. Good luck, sounds like you've got a great start. I know what you mean about habit...nearly did the same thing at work the other day. I'm used to walking by everyone's desk and taking a piece of this or that...nearly absentmindedly did that the other day with a pea sized piece of krispy creme donut.
  17. One more thing I noticed today: Itching - I am having much less itching on my legs and bottom of my foot! Nini - it's funny because I'd be out in public with a friend, and my eyes would start burning and my nose would feel funny...and then my friend would turn around and say "someone is wearing perfume"...I couldn't smell it, but I'd react nonetheless...

    ARCHIVED Spamers

Nope, no pop ups either at home or at work....I think we have blockers at work and I have one at home.
  19. This is just a guess (I don't know for sure), but one of the problems with oats processed in the US is cross-contamination...I'm guessing that that might also be a problem with corn meal (or possibly any other products) produced by those companies. [ETA: I am assuming, maybe incorrectly, that Quakers is the same company that does the oats.)
  20. Let's see, I have Polish, Italian, Black Dutch and hispanic. There might be some other stuff in there, but no one really ever discussed it much...those are the ones I know for sure though.
  21. I've been noticing a few improvements since going gluten-free and I thought it might be helpful to list them...it's easy for me to get caught up in looking for the major improvements and miss the smaller ones. So while I'm waiting for some of the major issues to resolve, I wanted to note the other changes. Now some of these may have nothing to do with gluten...
  22. I don't have an answer for you, but just wanted to welcome you to the site! Welcome!
  23. I'm still new at this myself so not sure how much advice I can give, but one thing that help me is to concentrate on the things that I CAN have. I'm thinking I'll make a list of all the yummy things that are gluten-free that I LOVE. When I'm feeling sorry for myself I'll read the list and if I want, I'll have something. The other thing I do is to try to...
  24. How about this one: Open Original Shared Link I've seen this mentioned on another forum, and I think it's sold at chain stores like Petsmart. The ingredients looked safe (scroll down on the page).
  25. Congratulations on finding a doctor who can finally help your wife! I don't know if I will ever visit Qatar, but it is nice to know there are doctors around the world who know about Celiac!
