Unfortunately, it probably could be. Science tells us that it only takes a crumb to do intestinal damage in a celiac. It's the same principle behind the never-pick-the-croutons-out-of-a-salad-and-proceed-to-eat-it. Cross-contamination can seem to happen when things just make contact with one another. Welcome, Britni! I was also a silent celiac--no noticeable symptoms before diagnosis with the exception of low iron--but since being gluten-free for almost a year, my lower intestine has obviously been healing because, like many here, I DO get symptoms of being glutened now. Bloating, cramps...on the bright side, at least now I know when I've eaten hidden... -

I was entranced by all of the books by Madeleine L'Engle as a child (I still am), and my nine-year old son is devouring his third in the first series. A Wrinkle in Time is the first book in her first series...it is timeless, mysterious, had me laughing and crying. Great for boys or girls, nine years old or ninety! -

There was LOTS of bad fashion stuff happening in the eighties, but I would have to vote the mullet as perhaps the worst legacy that we are still left with in certain pockets of the continent--Kentucky, Alberta...hey, gfp, what areas of your continent across the pond still boast mullet sightings?

Isn't it fabulous? My nine-year old son sat wide-eyed, reading through the warnings. His reaction when I told him it was only speaking about water was classic...silence, then a slow smile. Very clever, and worth a second read when taken in the context of what we can get sucked into in this age of information bombardment...even as a forty-year old! -
We were discussing in another thread how careful one must be when gathering information off the internet, particularly medical info where incorrect facts can be dangerous. This site says it all, and is a very clever exercise that teaches this lesson brilliantly: www.dhmo.org
