  1. You can also try having him "assume tuttle position". Start on hands and knees, leave bottom in the air, hug himself with his arms and drop shoulders to the ground, with head to the side. I don't know how else to explain it, but it gets gas up and out.
  2. Yes! You might as well test all of them. I had all 4 of mine tested, even my adopted son (stranger things have happened). They all tested negative, but the pediatrician agreed that I should try my 11 year old son on the gluten-free diet. His teacher now says he is "a completely different child". "At least I'll be able to find out more info and...
  3. I don't care for Bob's regular flax meal personally - it was bitter when I bought it. I have bought the golden flax meal and haven't seemed to have CC problems. I like Arrowhead Mills finely ground flax meal (in the refrigerated section). Sorry I don't know anything about Nature's Path.
  4. What is he actually eating now? Are you totally avoiding all those foods that he tested positive for?
  5. Definitely a matter for prayer. Am praying and hoping that this is the answer for you!
  6. I use: 3 C Brown Rice Flour (Lundberg is my favorite brand - not gritty at all) 1 C Potato Starch 1/2 C Tapioca Starch 3 tsp. xanthan gum Sometimes I will also add about 3/4 C Sorghum flour or Bob's Red Mill gluten-free flour mix - although I'm a little leery now after reading about Bob's and CC. I use this for everything - cake, pancakes, muffins...
  7. Gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free maple bars. I even had a dream about them last night.
  8. Wow, I didn't realize how lucky I am here on the West Coast!
  9. I like them too! I make quesadillas on a dry pancake griddle - no oil necessary. All my kids like them fine made that way - even the kids that can eat gluten. I also make turkey sandwiches, almond butter and honey sandwiches and burritos with them.
  10. I wouldn't like that either. The two stores where I buy it have special gluten-free sections.
  11. LIfe just isn't fair. I'd love to be in some kind of weight co-op where I could donate my easily gained pounds to you. The only time in my life I was even close to "skinny" was right after I discovered all my food allergies, was afraid to eat anything, and dropped to 135 pounds on my 5'7" frame. Doesn't sound too skinny, but for someone who's always been...
  12. I buy the brown rice flour (and other things) through a buying club called Azure Standard that's located in Oregon. I think I paid 55 cents a pound last time. They deliver to the Western US. Our local health food store sells the unopened sacks at 10% off, but it's more expensive than Azure, although way cheaper than the little packages you can buy in most...
  13. What other foods do you avoid? Do you notice a difference when you stay away from everything you know you are sensitive to?
  14. YIKES! I guess I'm lucky that my flour mix works great for me. I mix it myself, buying brown rice flour in 25 lb. sacks and potato and tapioca in bulk and then sometimes throw in some sorghum flour or Bob's Red Mill gluten-free flour mix and it costs just over $1 a pound.

    ARCHIVED Headache

I tried pop sweetened with Splenda once, and once only. I had a bad headache and I was sure it was from the pop. I also got bad headaches when I tried pop sweetened with Nutrasweet when it first came out. So now I drink water.
  16. LOL Well, you could try a white cake, put in 2 little drops of milk and see if you have the same reaction. It would be a good test.
  17. You'll all probably think I'm crazy, but I'll tell you what I did with my daughter when she was 5 months old. She had a horrible time with projectile vomiting from about 1 month. I only breastfed. Believe me it's frustrating to feed a baby and then have all the milk barfed onto the floor, down my shirt, on the couch, ec. and then have her cry from hunger...
  18. My BIL is a pharmaceutical buyer for a large HMO, so he KNOWS that drugs are the best way to treat anything. He has argued with me and says that it's ridiculous to have to be that careful with any food. Last time we ate at his house (he does most of the cooking) he swore up and down that the meat patties he was making just had "ground turkey, onions, garlic...
  19. Could it be the chocolate? My mom reacts violently to it. I make her carob brownies and cake.
  20. I can't add anything to help understand the numbers, but I have a kidney disease (nephrotic syndrome/Minimal Change Disease) that I believe is linked with gluten intolerance. I've never been diagnosed Celiac, so I can't say there's a link there for sure. The kidney specialist told me that it's autoimmune and that diet wouldn't help at all, except for reducing...
  21. Wow - you sound like me about 20 years ago. But I never found out why I couldn't lose weight or why I got serious "brain fog", sometimes even during games, until years later. My coach would send a "spy" to watch what I ate in the cafeteria. My friends on the team finally started telling me that the coach thought I was lying about how much I ate. They...
  22. I coach my daughter's Middle School girls' basketball team and we are having our end of the season party tonight at a pizza parlor. Luckily they have a good salad bar that is safe to eat. At team parties I ALWAYS have people say things like, "Oh, too bad you can't have pizza, that must be so hard" or "What a bummer, how can you have that much willpower...
  23. Definitely yes! I feel pretty good most of the time. The only time I don't is when I cheat on one of the other things I'm sensitive too or eat too much sugar. I don't EVER cheat on the gluten. Considering that I was almost completely crippled with arthritis and had horrible stomach aches and cramping constantly, as well as other symptoms, I think I'm...
  24. Okay, you've probably already made your cake, but just in case you're still looking, rice milk works great in any cake. You can't taste it. Water will work okay. Here's the link to the white cake recipe in the recipes section - I used water. Use your regular egg substitute or Ener-G Egg Replacer. Cupcakes also work better than larger cakes. You can...
  25. YES! I didn't know that anyone else had this. I always thought it was psoriasis in there, since I have been fanatically gluten-free and it's still happening. I have been cheating a bit with eggs though, so maybe that's it. I have noticed that sometimes my ears start to itch with the first bite of something - somtimes even with a glass of water. I've...
