  1. I think you'd be correct if legalizing marijuana made it as available as alcohol. IMO, alcohol should be illegal, but not marijuana. Why? Because I've never heard any good reasons for drinking alcohol. It too is a "recreational drug". It offers no medicinal uses. It has no benefits whatsoever. People drink for the very purpose of getting intoxicated. Plus...
  2. I recently read something about coconut flour being especially good for cakes. I've not tried it yet, but there are recipes out there.
  3. I've been hungry all the time too, and this has been ongoing for a long time. However, I'm finding certain things that do help. One is a magnesium supplement, as this mineral assists in the absorption of nutrients. Another has been in selecting the right foods, not just quantity. This includes the right kinds of fats. They are not all equal, not by a long...
  4. Many members have commented on how much a B12 supplement helps them even when tests suggest their level to be normal. There is no known toxicity level for B12, so it cannot hurt to try it and see if it helps. Just be sure to get a sublingual methylcobalamin type, as that has been proven to be as effective as shots.
  5. Also, do make certain to use a gluten-free soap on your dishes/utensils.

    ARCHIVED Hey Guys

Yes, according to Wikipedia: I recall having ordinary fruit juice pops as a kid. We'd take an ice cube try, fill it with juice, cover it with plastic wrap, and push popsicle sticks down through. Eventually we actually had a set of plastic ice pop makers, designed especially for making homemade ice pops.
  7. Thing is, it was man who hybridized the heck out of wheat, multiplying the gluten several times over. It is this type of alteration which bugs me. On the other hand, I once heard it would take something like 400 pounds of marijuana to be a lethal dose, assuming one could actually consume it all fast enough. I don't know if that's true, but when I hear of...
  8. Well, I don't want to sound negative, but I don't see how you could resume such a job, given the symptoms you listed. This obviously cannot be an easy situation to deal with. I sympathize with you. If it were me, I might look into a telecommuting type of employment. Hope you get this figured out.
  9. I don't know for certain, but according to the USDA, the amount of glutamic acid doesn't appear out of the ordinary. Whether there is free glutamic acid is another matter.
  10. Well, if it's fiber you want, you might try coconut flour. It appears to have more fiber than flaxseed meal according to the info I've seen. IMHO coconut does go well in breads and such.
  11. Actually, after discussing it with Bob's Red Mill customer service, they are sending new ones. They tell me the shelf life should be at least a few months at room temp. I also got some of a different brand, and they do not have such a strong odor. There is a smell, but not anywhere near what the bad ones smell like. So for those who find the odor to be rather...
  12. I've basically concluded that both flours have spoiled, even though I haven't had them very long at all. I suppose they must have been on the store shelf too long or something. The smell doesn't go away when baked either. The taste is just as gross. There's no way this can be normal. Truly putrid in every sense of the word.
  13. I didn't get the sense that the people themselves are being belittled in any way. Only that the modern-day pressures and our fast-pace lives are robbing us of the very things we actually, ultimately hope to gain. The things which really matter - happiness, joy, peace, love, etc. But take note; the children were all drawn to the music. It didn't matter...
  14. I would also echo the comments made thus far. It truly does get easier, and you won't feel nearly as bad about having to avoid certain foods. Especially with the new found sense of well-being you'll enjoy. There are numerous gluten-free foods to take the place of those made with wheat and related grasses. Breads, pastas, cereals, etc are all still there for...
  15. I checked the kinnikinnick site, and I didn't see pea protein among their products. However, they do list "Pea Hull Fibre". Is that what you have? If it's fiber you want, I believe Coconut Flour has about the most fiber of any flour I've seen. Green Pea Flour does have a lot of protein and fiber though, with Fava Bean Flour as a close second. Soy flour...
  16. Right. The problem is when the glutamate enters the body in the free, unbound form. Because instead of a slow release as the food is digested, there's a whole bunch of the stuff surging into the brain. It's like a river; it can take a certain amount of water in a given period of time, but when there's a lot going in all at once, the river tends to rise above...
  17. You've got every right to be blistering mad. I think we all do in a way, even if we've never purchased anything from them. Trading one set of health problems for another isn't what any of us want or need. It is not in the interest of the consumer for the company to do what they are obviously doing. Worse part is: They know it. They do it purposely. They intensionally...
  18. Besides the fine suggestion which Momma Goose has given, what comes to mind for me is to put up an announcement in the local health food store(s). Surely that would be the kind of place a Celiac is more likely to be found. Whether they have a bulletin board or not, perhaps they'll allow a "poster" of sorts on the front face of the checkout counter/cash register...
  19. One way to find out would be to avoid all dairy for a few weeks, then try some and see how it goes. I wouldn't think it should take very much dairy to cause a noticeable reaction if it's the cause of the symptoms you describe. So hopefully you won't need to have very much, and any symptoms might then be manageable, yet definitive.
  20. As dally099 said, not everyone will have an immediate and profound change. That's true for when going gluten-free, and when challenging it later. It took six months gluten-free before I saw any really noticeable change. One item on your list which stands out to me is the canola oil. Many have posted about having issues with that. I'm sure you'll get plenty...
  21. Right. But the experiment wasn't to see if people would stop to listen if they had plenty of time. Rather, just what would people do when they aren't just enjoying the scenery. Would they depart from their routine, toss aside obligations, etc to take in what was obviously a great performance. It's about priorities. Now if one were to go into that same...
  22. So am I. But what's not a surprise is that they've changed how they list the ingredients, at least on the site (I don't buy their stuff).
  23. While I can't add much to what's been said, I wonder just how many people actually take the time to read that article. After all, it is a sound-bite and one-liner driven society.
  24. LOL ...And I like the new phrase too. It does sound more like something those "gluten-mongers" can grasp.
  25. Well, there are many different kinds of bread, but perhaps one of these will suit your preference: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link There are other variations out there. Here's the Google search I used to find them: Open Original Shared Link
