  1. Yes, there are often lingering neurological effects such as brain fog. Depending on how long you've been gluten-free, it may not be anything to worry about. However, many find that they benefit from B vitamins. In particular, B12 generally helps with brain fog and fatigue, energy, sleep cycles, mood, and much more. You may find a B-complex, along with a separate...
  2. One of the advertisers on this site happens to be a gluten-free cosmetics company founded by a Celiac. It's called Open Original Shared Link.
  3. I've never used a bread machine, but if I was having this happen, the first thing I'd try is to mix the sugar into the warm milk, then add the yeast to it. Set aside while you go about the rest. I'm thinking it might give the yeast a head start. At least ten minutes should help. It should bubble up plenty, but if it doesn't, the yeast is dead. Other things...
  4. I'm guessing it is the difference between "regular" oats, and the quick cooking oats.
  5. If you like the smell of coconut, try coconut oil. Not only is it great for the skin, but it smells great, and of course it's delicious!
  6. According to the article, the forms which are absorbed less effectively can loosen stool most. I always thought it was the other way around, since the products which make the most claims about relieving C are usually the citrate ones. And it is the citrate form which is said to be more effectively absorbed. Anyway, the author recommends magnesium oil if the...
  7. Yes, the skin does absorb stuff. It's the basic idea behind those nicotine patches, just to name one example. There's a company that advertises here on the board. They apparently make gluten-free cosmetics. The address is www.afterglowcosmetics.com
  8. Just use the link I posted, which will take you to Open Original Shared Link Firefox is a web browser similar (but better) to the one you're using, except without the security holes. The site explains it in plenty of detail. If you have any questions, just ask. Feel free to PM me if you want. They also make the Thunderbird email client, also with many...
  9. I found an article which everyone should read. Below is an excerpt.
  10. A B-complex may not have enough B12, and usually it's cyanocobalamin, which, strange as it sounds, has cyanide in it (hence the "cyano" part). The form I suggested doesn't require conversion by the liver, so it can be utilized right away. Since there is no known level of overdose for B12, you can safely take more. Though from what I've read, the body doesn...
  11. OK. That can explain a lot. If enough people mistakenly type in the wrong address, the site gets enough hits, and that's all they care about. There are domain names which are purposely misspelled to take advantage of typos too.
  12. Melatonin is also important for proper neurological function, and its production depends on B12 too.
  13. Well, since you didn't mention going gluten-free, I'd HIGHLY recommend that you do so immediately. Also, avoid dairy at the same time, as it has proven very helpful for many on this board. As for B12, yes, it can certainly be involved in how you feel. However, you do not need to wait until a doctor suggests taking supplements in order to try them! So I...
  14. Well, coconut oil is a popular ingredient in skin/hair care products, and the one you're referring to has it as a main ingredient. Coconut oil is marvelous for the skin and scalp. You can also buy coconut oil or olive and aloe soaps, which if used for bathing, can help reduce or eliminate the need for additional moisturizers. That would be my recommendation...
  15. I and others can tell you that a few key supplements can do wonders for nerves/anxiety/stress, etc. I'd highly recommend a sublingual methylcobalamin (vitamin B12) supplement and a magnesium supplement. Some others can help too, like a good B-complex, but from all my research, these two seem to be the top recommendations. There are numerous reasons why...
  16. It's pretty simple to tell such a site. For one, just look at where all the links refer to: searchportal.information.com Then, each link has an absolutely huge query in it, so it's basically going to another site to searching for stuff. So it in itself doesn't have any verifiable info. Only predefined search links, probably based on the domain name or...
  17. There was at least one long thread discussing this at length, with many experiments which showed that extra yeast rose the dough faster, but nobody reported it messing up the structure that way. In fact, gluten-free breads generally don't get large holes. That's one of the more notable differences between wheat bread and gluten-free bread. Smaller holes leads...
  18. I'm guessing there are too many format tags (colors/fonts/etc). Those will be counted as part of the length. If you use one color tag for multiple lines, that will help. If you want, post what you're trying to put in it, only wrap it in code tags, and I or someone else might be able to shed some light on why it's being rejected. In code tags, it shows...
  19. That's a sort of "portal" site, most likely because someone acquired the domain name, but didn't pay their bill. If a site like that gets enough hits, the registrar keeps it active with more-or-less generic stuff, just to take advantage of the traffic. I'd have to guess the content is generated automatically. It really isn't maintained by anyone. Nobody checks...
  20. I find it almost astonishing that any company would put top allergens in a product aimed at relieving allergies But when you see all the junk they put in meds, it gets sorta expected after awhile. Then they tell people not to trust herbal remedies! A Google search for Open Original Shared Link turns up tons of stuff.
  21. According to what I could find, the label only indicates soy as an allergen, but check your label to be sure, as ingredients can be changed. The only ingredient which seems like it could be suspect is the smoke flavor. However, if your package doesn't list wheat, barley, rye, or oats as an allergen, then it should be gluten-free. I'm sure someone here...
  22. I think it looks yummy. Just ignore that it looks like a monster zit.
  23. It does sound possibly related to hair care products, though it is also possibly caused by things like dairy, soy, corn, nuts, etc. Other food allergies, or even a yeast infection might do it too I suppose.
  24. As was stated, anxiety can and does happen with Celiac. Two things which can help quite a lot are a sublingual methylcobalamin (vitamin B12) supplement, and magnesium. Both are tremendously important for brain and nerve function, as well as untold other things. Obviously, the most important thing is to not ingest any gluten.
  25. It can be lactose, casein, or dairy in general. However, the best thing you can do for yourself is to give your digestive system a break, by not eating any dairy for awhile. A number of people find that over time, they regain the ability to handle dairy to some degree. However, have you checked that the ice cream, chocolate, etc you've been eating is gluten...
