  1. My first thought is that it's something you are getting on your face, like soap, shampoo, or a skin care product, etc.
  2. My only comment on the alcohol (besides that it's not healthy) is that many contain gluten.
  3. I agree that Celiac seems probable. But, with all the symptoms you listed, I'm also thinking that those nasty opportunistic microbes could be adding to your discomfort. Intestinal yeast overgrowth (AKA candida overgrowth) has been (or is) a problem for many on this board. There are numerous threads about candida, and one test which is supposed to be accurate...

    ARCHIVED Joint Pain

As others have stated, it may just take time, but you could probably quicken the recovery process with some supplements. Many on this board have found certain nutrients do a world of good. In my experience, magnesium and a sublingual methylcobalamin (vitamin B12) have practically worked miracles. Some of the other commonly suggested supplements are B-complex...
  5. I wonder if there's a market for pizza flavored doormats?
  6. AliB: Though I'm interested in continuing the discussion, this thread is really not the place for it. But you could certainly start one dedicated to your theory.
  7. Seems to me, that this would indicate an ongoing infection, no?
  8. Well, AliB, I think there are a number of things going on with various people. However, Celiac is autoimmune. There is no getting around that. The antibodies which destroy the body's own cells aren't produced by bacteria. I suspect though, that just as it is possible for someone to get chicken pox more than once because the immune system "forgets" how...
  9. One thing which I know works is magnesium. The powdered forms usually have no added ingredients. Mix some (follow the label) in fruit juice - citrus fruit juice works best. I'd suggest trying it on a weekend first, so you know how long it takes to work.
  10. Though this thread seems to have been resurrected unintentionally, I'll add my experience for anyone reading. What I did was to avoid all sugars, vinegars, yeasts, and fruits. I still ate complex carbs. I took caprylic acid capsules. It took about two weeks for the cravings to subside, and day by day I was feeling better. In a month it was like having...
  11. Well, I don't know a replacement for corn, but there are plenty of tasty gluten-free grains besides rice. Amaranth, Kasha (roasted buckwheat), millet, and teff are some of the more common ones. There are of course, many types of rice, so there are some things to explore there too. I found it was the GMO corn that bothers me, but the organic, identity preserved...
  12. It sounds like what you're talking about is intestinal yeast and/or bacterial overgrowth. We both know that many on this board have trouble in this area, and it is also true that the typical American diet is loaded with sugar - something which many don't seem to want to give up. I know first hand how an intestinal yeast overgrowth can be truly debilitating...
  13. I think it's called phlegm. Here's a link to some info about how to get rid of it: Open Original Shared Link
  14. I second the B12 recommendation, and would add magnesium. I had that full-body spasm/electric shock type thing, so I know what you mean. It ALL cleared up completely with B12 and magnesium, which I continue to take. Recently, I read that magnesium helps decrease blood-brain barrier permeability. That really puts a finer point on the matter. I hope you...
  15. Thanks ShayFL for starting this thread. Sometimes I feel like I'm harping about B12, but as the posts on this thread show, such a deficiency really mustn't be ignored. I think my symptoms were also masked by folic acid, until intestinal damage was so bad, that all those veggies I eat weren't getting digested much at all. Now, so many areas of health have...
  16. That's a very good point. Since we know gluten can get into the milk, then it stands to reason that the meat could also end up with trace amounts. As the saying goes;'You are what you eat' But, if giving up meat is what turns out to be necessary, you shouldn't feel abnormal about it. Even before going gluten-free, I found that meat made me look and feel...
  17. Well, I'm not a fan of cold cereal, but I once tried some amaranth cereal that I thought was pretty tasty. I've not read about fructose malabsorption though. What does this imply for the cereal? Does the cereal have to be high or low in fructose or something?
  18. Yeah, it sure would. If I understand the difference between frosting and icing correctly, frosting is sorta soft and creamy like, while icing is sorta stiff, almost like a glaze, no? So I'd think it's probably due to it being mostly sugar. That's why I said it was like frosting - to make some distinction. If it had to hold up to a little warmth, I'd probably...
  19. Sure sounds tasty! Too bad I react to watermelon Then again, I haven't tried since going gluten-free, so who knows.
  20. I'm pretty sure coconut oil would make a good starting point. I like mixing it with carob, Stevia, and some salt, which makes a yummy creamy frosting sort of stuff.
  21. You mean they don't let anyone take liquids on an airplane? What on Earth for? Is that like a security thing? Do they count frozen things like ice cubes and Popsicles too? Next thing you know, they'll be requiring everyone to submit to a blood test before they can board the stupid plane. After all, some terrorist might sacrifice himself by replacing half...
  22. I also experienced brain fog symptoms before I figured out the candida issue. Taking care of that was certainly like a fog lifting. As I understand it, the yeast produce toxins which can cause (among other things) all sorts of mental impairment.
  23. I will only point out that not every Celiac is skinny before diagnosis. Many members of this board lost weight after going gluten-free, so I wouldn't be surprised if the same is true for you. I hope you achieve your goal soon!
  24. Great story! Cooking skills aside, you could certainly earn a living as a writer. While I don't exactly throw things together, I seldom measure either, except for baking powder, xanthan, and Stevia. Once in awhile I get out the measuring cup just to see how accurately I'm eyeballing it, and so far so good. But I usually measure the large amounts of flour...
