  1. Where is this place in the city? When I come in, I take NJ transit into Penn Station. I would love to go there. I only live about 40 minutes outside the city and would love to go.
  2. I used Mr Ritts Bakery pancake, waffle and tempura flour mix.. I am not sure if they deliver. They are a gluten free bakery in Philly. The cod came out just like you said you want it. I under cooked the first few pieces as I was new with it. I will be traveling back to Philly in a few weeks. I plan on stocking up. It makes excellent pancakes and waffles...
  3. Congrats on your graduation!! I have a Kitchen Aid too. Its a great machine! I love it. But alas, I dont have any attachements either. LOL Congrats anyway and enjoy it!
  4. ChelsE I know I am sounding like everyone else. I have no profound words of wisdom either. I just find comfort in praying. I am so sorry for your grandpa. I will add him and you to my prayers. As for your not feeling better, I can relate to that too. I am so tired of being tired. The exhaustion is just overwhelming. My depression isnt getting...
  5. I am not sure where to post this, so I will start here. I all of a sudden have this awful scaly rash like skin on my face. It seems to be irritated when i shower. My hair products dont have wheat in them and I use Dove Body Soap. When I get out of the shower I have been using the Tropical Traditions that I got from jenvan. And that without a doubt...
  6. Thank you so much for this link!!!
  7. My son is too young yet to have those little idiosyncrasies. But for a laugh, my family exchanges colored Easter eggs on Easter. We write the persons name on it.. and color it and just give it to them.. I got 2 eggs this year, one was a pink one with my name on it. The other was not colored with Gluten Free written on it. I got quite a chuckle out of...
  8. wow chelse.. you have seen quite a few broadway shows! I love going there, I just saw The Producers a few weeks ago, I loved it! It was so funny. I want to go and see much more, but my dh doesnt like broadway much. He only wants to see Spamalot! The best show I have seen to date is Beauty and the Beast. It was fantastic. I cant wait until she gets...
  9. I actually didnt find this site, my dh did. While I was in the hospital for 8 days, suffering from the effects of celiac he found this board and joined it. He then would come in to visit me in the hospital with this bounty of information. When I got out of the hospital and was home a few days, I was regaining some strenth, I checked on here. I wanted...
  10. The Outback I went to, numerous times, is in Brick, New Jersey. The restaurant I went to in central NJ, is in Wall Township, called Meritage. It can be a bit pricey, but for once in a while, to know that they cared and I would get that kind of service again, it may be well worth it
  11. How long does it take most people to get a reaction from the food they have eaten if they are going to get one? My mom swears that if I dont feel good it could have been something I ate 2 days ago. Is she right?
  12. Judy I am so sorry to hear of your awful experience. At least I now know that like you said a restaurant is only as good as its manager. I hope you have more luck in the future. Tinkerbell
  13. I have to tell this to everyone b/c I am so excited about it. My family goes out to dinner every Easter. It is the only holiday that we go out for. So, obviously I am nervous. The only restaurant I have gone to since my diagnosis is the Outback. Now we are heading for a real restaurant. Well the chef himself came out of the kitchen to speak to me...
  14. I actually now pay all my bills through online banking. So I no longer have envelopes to lick. I just sent out a whole bunch of invitations to my sons first birthday and I used envelope sealer. You can buy that in any Staples or stationary store.
  15. Hope you feel better soon. I also use the Monistat otc. I had a doctor that actually gave me a yeast to take everyday! was not a happy camper after that incident, had to stop taking that myself.
  16. Hi and welcome! I am still kind of new at this myself. I just wanted to let you know from my own experiences that this is a place full of wonderful people with some great advice. Any questions you might have you can ask here and someone somewhere will have somesort of answer. Its amazing! The support you receive here is golden. Again, welcome to our...
  17. I think its good news too. Our "plight" will become more well known. And as for the packing out of products where their tag is, they are constantly working on that. I was a scan coordinator for 8 years for Shop Rite. The only thing you have to do is match the UPC number on the product to the UPC number on the tag and then you will know if its the same...
  18. That is terrific chelsea! Lucky you. I am sure there are a lot of people that would love to have a boss like yours!
  19. I finally got to make these crab cakes... they were absolutely wonderful! I went over my parents house to cook and they both loved them too! Thank you so much for the receipe
  20. I am so happy for you! It is hard not having a concrete diagnosis. I need to find a GI around here that I can go to, just to keep up with me. Anyone here know of someone in central New Jersey?
  21. I am not sure where to post this.. so I will try here. I just got a phone call from my other half, with some great news for us celiacs that live in NJ. If anyone lives near or shops at a ShopRite, they are soon going to be going over to the way that Wegmans does things. They are going to be labeling their own brand products as gluten free or sugar free...
  22. I have only been gluten free for about 6 months.. so I am no expert, but I can tell you that I am afraid to eat gluten. I guess fear is a mighty deterrant. I was so sick I also almost died by the time they diagnosed me. I never did go back to the GI who told me just to eat a low fat diet and I would be fine. Anyway, I would love to have a slice of regular...
  23. hello.. I am like jaimi keeping my son gluten free. He is only 11 months old today, but since there is no test besides the panel to do and he has had so many tests already, I am just keeping him gluten free for the first two years. I dont want to look back and see he has damage when I could have prevented it. It would break my heart. I dont want him finding...
  24. I had seen somewhere also that Aunt Jemima is gluten free too. I read it somewhere and was happy about it b/c it was the one on sale. I have eaten it a few times (almost thru with the bottle) and I havent had any problems. I am going to check the label again.
  25. I am 100% gluten free now and have been since October of 2005. I still get gas from just the different foods I am eating. I also have noticed that it isnt as frequent as before and not such bad pain. If I have beans or cabbage for dinner, you can be pretty sure that I will have gas.
