I got the greatest surprise today. A woman that I have become quite friendly with is on vacation in Virginia Beach. When we went to retrieve the mail today there was a box inside. When I got it back to my house I opened it and to my surprise there was a box of goodies in there, all gluten free of course. They are fantastic!! I cant rave about them enough... -
ARCHIVED Health Insurance Denial
TinkerbellSwt replied to bigapplekathleen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My mother works for an insurance company here. When you have trouble with any insurance company she always tells me to call the Dept of Insurance. The insurance companies really dont like that. But it may help you solve your problem, at least to get some clarity to it. -
ARCHIVED Dr.s Are Frustrating Me...
TinkerbellSwt replied to num1habsfan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sorry to hear you were in so much pain. Lousy docs are everywhere. In my case, it was the ER doc that knew something was really wrong with me, as my GI kept discharging me out of the hospital. Finally one time I went in again, the ER doc said, this has to be celiacs and ran blood tests for it. Sure enough... voila.. I hope you find relief soon.. they... -

ARCHIVED Heart Burn ... Bad!
TinkerbellSwt replied to Kiki's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you can stand dairy.. milk helps. It coats. And dont lay down. I take Tums and a glass or two of milk and sit up for a bit. Even in my worst heartburn, I get thru it. Hope you feel better soon! -

I dont have experience with a vegetable lasagna, but I always make my regular lasagna with Tinkyada lasagna noodles and I never cook them before I make it. The receipe always turns out great. I hope that helps. -

ARCHIVED Glutening - How Long Does It Take?
TinkerbellSwt replied to Lane R's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My reactions usually begin right away. I would say within 20 minutes. I think the amount of gluten I eat affects how severe my symptoms are. Well that is the way it seems. I usually can tell just by the bloating and gassy feeling, I may or may not get D. I guess it depends. -

ARCHIVED 3 Random Gluten Questions
TinkerbellSwt replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If i remember correctly.. from working at Wegmans... all of their "blended" yogurts are gluten free. If you go to the webpage for Wegmans they have a gluten free list of all their products in the store. But even if you dont have time for that.. the little G will be on the left hand of the product if its Wegmans and gluten free... they also put a L for... -

ARCHIVED Life Is Finally Starting To Brighten
TinkerbellSwt replied to Lister's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am also glad to hear that you are feeling better. I was also in somewhat that position some years back and I know how tough it can be. I used the help my township gave me for people who had nothing or very little to live. They kept me full with peanut butter and some canned veggies and such. I hope you can find a way to get some help and stay feeling... -

ARCHIVED Do You Know About These Foods?
TinkerbellSwt replied to chrissy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The Lipton Onion Soup Mix is made gluten free. I have heard many other people have reactions to it. I think that it might just be the other ingredients in it that cause them though. I have used it and been fine and sometimes I get a belly ache. -
ARCHIVED Kahlua & Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
TinkerbellSwt replied to debbief's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
When I wrote to Godiva in the beginning of my diagnosis I was told to consider all their stuff to have gluten in it. They wouldnt guarantee any of their candies gluten free. Are they? Does someone know anything different? I miss some of my truffles.....
