  1. I forgot to add, if your daughter is resistant to the diet, you will want to make the party hostess aware of the situation so that she (if willing) can supervise snacks. After you find out what their menu will be, I'm sure we can all give you recommendations on brands of gluten free goodies to use as substitutes.
  2. For the birthday party, I would suggest baking her some gluten free cupcakes to take along. They can be every bit as good as the glutenous ones if you find a good recipe or mix. For the Oreos dilemna, I would suggest getting some K-toos from Kinnikinnick.com. They are delicious and almost like the real thing.
  3. I suffer from insomnia, even when not glutened. I found a secret remedy though. Well, it works for me anyway. I have a little handheld PC (like Palm) and it has a solitaire game on it. Looking at that little screen makes my eyes so tired that I fall asleep. Sometimes I have to play for an hour to get tired, but eventually it always puts me to sleep. I don...
  4. Please keep in mind that gluten can hids in many, many different forms. Here are just a few things that you may want to think about: Do you come in contact with any glues (in products, on products, etc)? Are your lotions/body products garuanteed by the manufacturer to be gluten free? Are there gluten eaters in your household that could be contaminating...
  5. Yup, Unilever is one of the companies that will clearly label gluten. I use Suave daily with no problems.
  6. Totally ditto on what Karen said. You absolutely could have Celiac or gluten intolerance, even with negative blood tests and endo biopsies. The best test would be to go gluten free for a few months and see if your symptoms are alleviated. If you need proof before going gluten free, I would recommend using Open Original Shared Link. Many people on the board...
  7. That's so awesome! Glad you got a chance to spread the word. Please remind us closer to the time so we can all see it.
  8. Wow! That's so awesome that they had a gluten free cake made for you. What sweet people. Glad the D stopped... It sounds to me like it could have easily been your moisturizer. Was there any obvious gluten in it? Was there vitamin E (this can be wheat derived), avena sativa (oats), or HVP (can be wheat derived), in it? I guess it could have been the vitamins...
  9. After cooling, they hold their shape very well. They are firm enough to go without liner after cooling. They are also delicious. I thought this was a really nice alternative to pumpkin pie. Also, the cupcakes look really cute decorated with whipped cream. I tend to get kind of artsy when I'm serving food. I imagine they would make a beautiful presentation...
  10. Those test results indicate that she should definitely be 100% gluten free for life. It's good that you discovered this so early. Have you and her father both been tested for Celiac? It sounds like either or both of you could also have Celiac.
  11. Oops... I don't know why I put pie crust... This recipe doesn't use a pie crust. My mom's recipe originally used a pie crust and I modified it to be slightly more firm so it didn't need a crust. Sorry about that.
  12. Here's an article on how to make bacon. I don't know what's required for it to be kosher, but perhaps, if you had some patience, you could make your own.
  13. For those of you that don't want to go through the hassle of making a pie crust, this recipe is very simple to make and tastes great. INGREDIENTS * 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin * 1 (14 ounce) can Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT evaporated milk) * 2 eggs * 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon * 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger * 1/2 teaspoon...
  14. JENNIE-O® Extra Lean Turkey Bacon is gluten free. Americanspice.com has gluten free smoked paprika. Colgin natural liquid smoke is gluten free. I hope that helps. *edit* This is B&G's gluten free list. Wright's is a B&G company. The following are gluten free. Wright's®: Hickory Liquid Smoke Mesquite Liquid Smoke

  16. Perhaps the school would be willing to keep one cupcake in the freezer in the teachers lounge for special occasions.
  17. There are many companies who make naturally gluten free things. They are not necessarily marketed as such, but they will list any gluten-containing ingredients. Unilever (Suave) and Dove come to mind for personal care stuff. As far as new silverware and cutting boards, I would say give the silverware that you have a really good wash, but I would replace the...
  18. The logs say his last activity was Yesterday, 09:52 PM... Hope this puts you at ease a little.

IF you're eating gluten free, the blood test may easily come back negative, even if you have Celiac...
  20. If you feel as though gluten intolerance or celiac may be a problem, try going gluten free and see if that helps. It may take a few months to notice an improvement, but having an answer would be well worth that wait, wouldn't it? Blood tests don't always come back positive even if you have it and it sounds like you're pretty desperate to find some answers...
  21. Wow... Snow... It's warm here today. Well, it hit 70 degrees anyway. I was roasting in my lightweight longsleeve top.
  22. I believe Hershey's will clearly list any gluten on the label. Perhaps someone else will verify this.
  23. I would think it would be fine. I've never had a problem with freezing cooked meat. You'll just need to be sure that you don't reheat it in the microwave on high. It may take a few tries to figure out the best way to reheat it. Some meats I throw in the oven to reheat. Some I do in the microwave. Hope that helps.
  24. 1. How long have you known you’ve had Coeliac Disease and what is your age (age-optional)? I found out that I had Celiac Disease just over two years ago. I am now 28. I have been sickly all my life though, so I'm assuming that I was suffering since birth. 2. Is it hard to cope with this condition? No - sometimes 3. Do you understand what is wrong a...
  25. Okay guys, I desperately need a new ringtone for my cell phone. This time I want to do a funny one. I was hoping that maybe somebody would know the name of one of the songs commonly used in "adult films". You know the kind I mean... Bow chicka bow bow... Anyway, if anyone has suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. If it helps, I have T-mobile, maybe...
