  1. I bought this the day I saw it hit the shelves... It's NOT great. My husband, a cheesecake fanatic, couldn't even choke down one little dish. Perhaps we're just picky, but it didn't live up to our standards in the slightest. We threw the whole thing away. I'm hoping someone else will have an opinion on it. Please don't take this post as a slam, just wanted...
  2. I'm not a doctor, nor am I an expert on Celiac Disease. However, I can tell you this... Enterolab doesn't specifically test for celiac. It tests for gluten intolerance (which can be every bit as bad as celiac disease). You may very well have a gluten intolerance rather than celiac. That being said, 2-3 months gluten free could absolutely have affected your...
  3. That must be frustrating. Perhaps you could sit down with the director and have a heart to heart explaining the whole emotional part of the disease. Perhaps they don't understand how hard the diet is or how left out it can make you feel. Hope your little guy makes it through the party okay.
  4. You didn't mention whether or not you had the Celiac bloodwork done. Did that come back positive? If the bloodwork came back positive, then you DO have Celiac. The biopsy is really hit or miss like Karen said. Welcome to the forum!
  5. Vicolo??? INGREDIENTS Corn Meal Crust (unbleached wheat flour, organic corn meal, water, canola oil, soybean oil, olive oil, yeast, salt), Whole Milk Mozzarella (pasteurized milk, cheese culture, salt, enzymes), Tomato Sauce (whole tomatoes, garlic, herbs, spices, sugar, salt, calcium chloride, citric acid), Fontina (pasteurized cultured whole milk, salt...
  6. So sorry you got glutened on your anniversary. Hope it clears up quickly.
  7. She hasn't started any diet for the diverticulitis. The doctors didn't even tell her what it was when she was diagnosed. They just threw out the term and sent her home. We're still looking for more answers because she is VERY ill and not getting any better. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Google "diverticulitis diet" and see what turns up.
  8. Woo-hoo!!! What an encouraging story!
  9. Welcome to the board!!! My mother has diverticulitis and I suspect she also has Celiac, though she has had negative bloodwork twice now. Sorry I can't be of more help.
  10. Nope, Patti, you didnt' miss much. I was so excited... Until I watched it... Ugh...
  11. Glutino stuff, for the most part, is awesome. The only problem I've run into is stale treats. It seems like at my grocery store the gluten free stuff sits too long and I get stale stuff here and there. Now i mostly mail order my treats and I don't have a problem. I totally agree on the Glutino stuff though.
  12. I'm thinking maybe corn starch??? Maybe??? Hopefully someone else will have a more definitive answer for you.
  13. I don't have any concrete analytical information on Enterolab. I can, however, assure you that there are people who HAVE gotten negative results, so it's not like they're just diagnosing everyone with Celiac. There are many people here who swear by Enterolab because it saved their lives after years of negative Celiac tests and doctors discouraging them from...
  14. I really don't have anything useful to add. I just wanted to say that I hope you're feeling better soon. I agree with Artgirl, I'd get rid of the bread. I wouldn't necessarily dismiss the manufacturer though. Perhaps you could call them to find out if their bread is made in a dedicated facility.
  15. I heat them up in the microwave, put the meat and cheese on QUICKLY while still warm, then I put a dab of cream cheese on to seal them OR use a toothpick.
  16. I just wanted to add a few ideas... Lunchmeat and cream cheese rolled up rice crackers and cheese spread (cheddar, cream cheese, and garlic mixed together) Mission corn tortilla wrap sandwiches (my favorite is sweet balogna and cheese)(my husband's favorite is bacon, egg, and cheese) pear dogs (half a pear decorated with raisins to look like a doggie...
  17. I don't have much to add. The others have given you some pretty good advice. I just wanted to pop my head in and say welcome.
  18. I second the recommendation of Incredible Edible Gluten Free Foods For Kids by Sheri L. Sanderson. It's my favorite cookbook. My daughter's really picky, and she'll eat most of the things I've tried from it.
  19. Jerry, perhaps when you get a positive diagnosis it will motivate him to seek help. If not, just make sure he KNOWS exactly how GREAT you feel after going gluten free. You could mention that you're much less tired, have more energy, etc... Focus on his symptoms that you share... Perhaps this will motivate him.
  20. Judy and Patti... You two give me such inspiration. Lovegrov, Tarnalberry, Vydorscope, Ursula... I can always count on one of the four of you having an answer to my questions. There are so many others that I can't even begin to name everyone. At some point, sometime, almost everyone on this forum has given me useful advice, posted a question that I learned...
  21. Bard's is hard to find... WHERE DO YOU LIVE? We live about an hour north of Philly too.
  22. My teeth didn't whiten when I went gluten free, but they DID start responding to the whitening mouthwash that I use. I never was able to whiten my teeth prior to going gluten free because it just wouldn't work, it would make them look dirty. Now, my teeth are much whiter than ever before thanks to the mouthwash. I've also noticed that my teeth feel stronger...
  23. If you're testing through Enterolab, it likely won't matter that you've been gluten-light, though I would do it as soon as possible. However, if you're doing the blood tests through a doctor, there's a good chance that it could show up negative even if you DO have Celiac. Also, the doctor's blood tests only test for Celiac I believe, I don't think they test...
  24. I don't have too much to add, except that I agree that you need to have a little break. Perhaps you could do something nice for yourself? A massage, a makeover, a good haircut, a nice bottle of wine... When you spend all of your energy taking care of someone else, you need to remember that you still have to make time to take care of yourself. I'm sorry...
  25. Welcome!!! I just wanted to add, be sure to check all your body products like toothpaste, shampoo, and lotion as all of these may eventually end up in your mouth and gluten you. Also, you will need a new toaster or toaster bags. The diet really does get easier as time goes on. A good gluten free cookbook may give you a light at the end of the tunnel. I...
