I think it depends on what kind of acne you have, and what has been causing your acne. I have cystic acne (it seems to be largely genetic in my case). It has not gone away (I've been gluten-free for about 4 years now). Soy does make my acne much worse though.

ARCHIVED First Time Traveling
Mango04 replied to Hollylou42's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Hi - Most condiments are safe, BUT, always make sure to read the label. Ingredients vary from brand to brand. There definitely are safe mayos...just don't assume anything. If you have time, it might help to order some Triumph dining cards. People have great luck with them at restaurants, and they will save you from having to remember which... -
Maybe I am a weather snob I just remember it being sooooo much better than it is now (full-on beach weather by early March, which lasted until November LOL). Oh well....

What's in them? Any chance they are diary and soy-free? (Wishful thinking, I know ) -
Yep, it cleared up . I take back my earlier post I do think it's funny (yet sad) that we can now often complain about the weather in sd. It's something different and new I guess LOL

It is cold and cloudy in San Diego

I know it's annoying, and I've vented about similair situations, but here are my two cents (for whatever they're worth ): When you say you can't get them to understand, do you mean you can't get the bride to understand, or you can't get the wedding caterer to understand? I've been in multiple weddings, and it's really best to not ever ever ever...

ARCHIVED Organic Oatmenl
Mango04 replied to maw3687's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There are a couple different brands of pure, uncontaminated, gluten-free oats. They can sometimes be found at health food stores. The brand I get is called Gifts of Nature. The other brand can be found at www.glutenfreeoats.com Some celiacs cannot eat any oats, due to the fact that the oat protein very similair to the gluten protein. I wouldn't... -
ARCHIVED Soy Free Stir Fry?
Mango04 replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Did you make your stir-fry SunnyDy? Did it work? I found the recipe for soy-free soy sauce: 2 cups beef broth 2 tsp. cider vinegar 1 tsp. molassas 1/8 tsp. ground ginger dash of pepper, onion powder and garlic powder Combine all in saucepan, boil uncovered until reduced to 1/2 cup. -
ARCHIVED Trader Joe's
Mango04 replied to gfmolly's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It seems like TJs labels every product with that statement. I eat their stuff with that label, but definitely avoid it if it makes you uncomfortable. What kind of soup is it? -
I had always assumed soy flour must somehow have a higher concentration of soy protein, but I am just guessing.

ARCHIVED Sick- Dairy? Peanuts? Sugar?
Mango04 replied to diapason05's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah, probably. I'd try to switch to a more natural way of eating for a while before worrying about additional intolerances/other health conditions etc. If it becomes pretty apparant that dairy is causing you problems, it wouldn't hurt to cut that out too. With lots of sugary, processed food though, it can be hard to tell what's actually going on. ... -

ARCHIVED Trader Joe's

The have a sweet rice flour that makes a really great breading for chicken. Sharon's coconut sorbet is really good. I also like their dolmas, tomato basil hummus..oh, and banana waffles LOL. They have a carribean soup in a jar that's pretty good too. In the winter they have the world's best dairy-free chocolate truffles. Don't know if they'd be there... -
I just happened to come across a recipe for this: Coconut Milk Rice Pudding Ingredients: 1 16 oz can of Coconut milk 2 cups of cooked rice (brown or white) sweetener, your choice, enough to sweeten the milk 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract optional: vanilla soy milk, to pour on top the bowls of pudding 1/2 cup of coconut...

Plain beef is not a problem (when the only ingredient is beef). Seasonings and sauces can be a problem, but they would need to be labeled in the grocery store. If you are eating out, make sure you find out if the marinades, sauces, seasonings etc. are safe before eating meat. Breadcrumbs can be added to ground beef as well. If you are buying meat in the...

ARCHIVED Soy Free Stir Fry?
Mango04 replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You can experiment with: sesame oil, rice vinegar, plum vinegar, ginger, chile pepper, garlic, onion... Somtimes I use Spice Hunter Ginger Stir Fry mix which contains: garlic, sesame seed, ginger, onion, red bell pepper, celery, green chile pepper, coriander, lemon oil, orange oil, chives, Szechwan pepper, star anise, cloves, cinnamon, fennel, pepper... -
Hi - You can still have chocolate. I don't know why cocoa powder or bakers chocolate would be a problem, unless there were additives involved. The label should let you know. If you do a search for "shampoo" in the "products" forum you'll find countless discussions about shampoos, soaps etc.

I don't know, but I recenlty read an article about it, and the side effects sound similiar to a glutening (if gluten gives you digestive problems): Open Original Shared Link

ARCHIVED Put Me Out Of My Misery...
Mango04 replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Seasame oil and plum vinegar is really good on rice. Or...when cooking white jasmine rice, replace half of the water with coconut milk. Cook the rice like you normally would, then add chopped cilantro at the end. Yum. Or....add some lentils to your rice (do half lentils, half rice) and add olive oil, balsamic vinegar and sea salt after it's cooked... -
ARCHIVED Rice Dream
Mango04 replied to majicbunnies's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If it understand it correctly, I think they are phasing out the "contains gluten" statement due to the fact that products with a gluten content of less than 20ppm will soon be labeled gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Put Me Out Of My Misery...
Mango04 replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Do you think the soy could be what's bothering you then? When I eat that much soy I have all the symptoms you described in your first post of this thread. I know cutting out soy is a bummer. I actually miss soy more than I miss gluten and dairy -
ARCHIVED Put Me Out Of My Misery...
Mango04 replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Maybe you can start by cutting out the soy, coffee, sugar and dried fruit and just see if that helps. All of those things bother me (but I can handle small amounts of dried fruit). I have heard that one brand of AquaFresh contains gluten. I don't know if it's true though and I can't find my source...
