  1. Yes I have, but it usually goes away after awhile. I also get canker sores in my mouth, and cold sores on the side of my lip pop up really easily.
  2. This. Its better to be safe than sorry. Once I'm done with this awful gluten challenge and done with all testing, I am going back to gluten free no matter what the results. I felt so much better.
  3. Lea, I find homemade peanut butter to be better than any store bought.
  4. My apologies, I see I already replied to this posting and for some reason I can't edit it. In any event, mlec I'm so glad I could help.
  5. Deleted-double reply.
  6. How about trying some peanut butter ground by you? You can usually find the peanuts and grinders in bulk areas at Safeway and Whole Foods, and I'm sure other stores, or you can make peanut butter in your own food processor (I do this). If you make your own and it doesn't bother you, you'll know it was one of the other ingredients. However if just plain...
  7. Oh man, 3 weeks into the gluten challenge-my body is sore all over, my head is foggy, and the bathroom and I have become good friends. This may be TMI, but it's fair warning to those who need to be tested for celiac to not go gluten free just to try it out.

  8. If wheat is used in a product, it has to say so on the label. Open Original Shared Linkis an article on this.
  9. Jessica, Get yourself another doctor, one who celiac savvy, and have your medical records sent over there. Listen to @cyclinglady, too.
  10. Lisa, hang in there. You can do this!
  11. Joe, Welcome! Have you been diagnosed with celiac? If so, Karen is right--you must stop eating gluten. Celiac is black and white: if you eat gluten damage to your intestines happen, but if you stop your intestines have a chance to heal. If you have not been diagnosed with celiac: what is your reason for going on a gluten/dairy free diet? If...
  12. Great informational article. It will be interesting to see what happens.
  13. So well said.
  14. When you noticed the migraines, did you let your doctor know? Rather than just cutting out gluten to see if it solves your migraines, I suggest talking to your doctor about getting tested for celiac since you said you were diagnosed as "borderline". However, to have an accurate result for testing, you need to continue eating gluten.
  15. Lisa, Thanks for sharing all that. It seems to be there is a whole lot of disbelief in from your PCP and some of your family regarding your celiac diagnosis, and a whole lot of you trying to convince them it is accurate. The bottom line is you have celiac and you do not need to justify it to anyone. It is what it is. Your health comes first. I...
  16. Hi Lisa, Didn't you have your medical records sent to your new PCP? If you received a celiac diagnosis from another doctor, she would be able to see that. I suggest sending your medical records to the new doctor if you have not already done so. That said, can you look for another PCP? I would personally be uncomfortable with one who questioned...
  17. Prior to a blood test it's advisable to eat gluten every day for at least 8-12 weeks, otherwise you can get a false negative.
  18. Open Original Shared Link is some information on the enteroscopy. Endoscope is part of the procedure, but it's more intensive testing.
  19. Have you logged out and then logged back in? I did an internet research and other forums say 2F173/H is a login error.
  20. Welcome! Yes, I think your symptoms sounds like celiac disease. The University of Chicago recommends a Open Original Shared Link
  21. Great information. I just had blood tests for a list of about 20 food allergies. Even though I am intolerant to both soy and lactose, I have no allergy to them at all. In fact, I am not allergic to had of the 20 foods on the list. Food allergies often cause quick symptoms. For example, my mother loved strawberries but didn't eat them because they...
  22. This. DH is a diagnosis of celiac disease, no blood test or endoscope necessary.
  23. Digestive problems continue with the gluten challenge, and they are getting worse. Doctor said 4 weeks of gluten for the blood tests, and other information says 8 weeks minimum, but I don't know if I can go much longer.  At least allergies to the 20 most common foods  are now ruled out. For me, that's a step forward.

  24. Do you use the gluten free all purpose flour (pre-mixed), or do you have to add xanthan gum?
  25. Welcome! I'm sure your friends mean well, but the only way to know the extent of intestinal damage is to have an endoscope. I would talk to your doctor about any concerns you have.
